I'm giving this good will a 1 rating due to how dirty it is. This is a big store that seems to be a bit unorganized. Items in the home goods section seem to be thrown on shelves and you have to dig through the items to look at it. Clothes are supposed to be separated by size but it doesn't seem like that's always true. Major issues: 1. Bathroom was beyond dirty and a possible health hazard in my opinion as a medical worker. How is there poop splattered down the seat and what appears to be on the wall- DRIED UP- what looks like for weeks! The bathroom is just SO DIRTY you can zoom in on the pics I've attached. I even attempted to go into the men's bathroom with was just as gross!!! No toilet paper in the woman's so I stole a roll from the men's. Unfortunate for me, I had to go bad enough to hover over top the toilet and use it. I was wondering if people only come in to use the restroom because it appears people would come in, use it, and leave. 2. This location has a lot of weird people shopping here. I've shopped at Goodwills in some sketchy neighborhoods but this one, wow. The people are beyond stalker-ish and predatory. I was looking at women's clothes, work out pants and then dresses. There was one older man in particular that kept going up and down the women's aisle looking at the clothes but in a weird way. Like if myself or a female was looking, he would walk down and look at clothes close to where I was (or another female). Then when I moved on because I felt weird he would also move on and eventually back where I was. My son who is an older teen told me in the car that a few older men were following him around the store and being weird around him. That's when I told him my story. We also felt these men were hovering around small children whose parents weren't looking after them. It was so off putting and weird that I felt like I had to keep an eye on the kids in case these men were going to do something. Overall, a bad experience at this store and thankfully we don't live locally so we won't be returning. read more

"You have GOT to check out the Goodwill & Outlet in Avondale, it's great!". I've heard that quite a bit over the past year, so one lovely day I decided to meet up with some friends and make the trek (it's almost an hour away) out to this mecca of thrift. It's good. Did not blow my socks off. Just good. This is a paired store with a Goodwill store and an Outlet - AKA "The Bins" side-by-side, sharing a main entrance. Turn left for the 'regular' thrift store and turn right to the bins. For those unfamiliar with The Bins or The Outlet, this is the 'last stop; for donations that either don't meet Goodwill's criteria for thrift store inclusion or they did not sell at the thrift store in an expected time frame. It's a hodgepodge, with. large blue shallow bins loaded up with everything from electronics to clothes to toys and housewares. Merchandise from the Outlet is sold by weight, rather than by item. It's definitely a 'dig' and can be quite fun if that's your thing. It is for me. Periodically new bins are rolled out, generally early in the day. What doesn't sell in the Outlets ends up in a dumpster. It's staggering honestly the quantity and range of items in those bins. Yes, I have found some great bargains, and also not-bargains. You go in with an open mind and a willingness to dig and you'll likely be happy. There are two locations in my area, one is about 35 minutes away and this one. Comparing, this one has a smaller bin area, fewer bins which means less variety. The 'thrift' store at Goodwill is very typical of their offerings, well organized, bright, clean, decent prices though you have the range of OMG SO CHEAP and ARE THEY CRAZY reactions. I don't regret going, I found a few things between the Bins and Store that I wanted. I would not make a special trip to go there again, perhaps when I'm in the area for other reasons. read more

My family decided to go thrifting and visited the store yesterday afternoon. Someone (person, not animal) took a loose poop on the floor of the store. No one cleaned it up. By the time my family left, several carts passed through it, leaving "skid marks" on the floor. It was pretty unsanitary and smelled quite bad. Do better Goodwill! read more

Awesome goodwill outlet!!! Like omg! Obviously it's always hit or miss with goodwills but this one doesn't disappoint! The outlet portion of the store is smaller than the one in up in Reading, but is so much calmer. People here actually respect other people's space! And it's so much calmer and less animalistic. They have a lot of clothes! So much so that unfortunately at some points it's hard to dig through everything haha! But I'd say just set aside a few hours (like usual) to dig through everything. Also wear gloves for sanitary reasons please! It's a bunch of used clothes, underwear, etc, sitting in bins. (But I suppose that's obvious lol) To find the best stuff, I recommend going to the bins in the evening, and if you go to the normal goodwill section go very early in the morning! The 'normal' section can sometimes be a bit more pricey imo, like 4 almost 5 dollars for a shirt. But that just depends on your price range! Anywho this is a great good will! My favorite Goodwill in the area. Definitely want to come when they open on the weekends. It gets pretty packed! This is an Outlet Center too (the large blue bins) which is also why it's good to go when they open. You'll find soon enough the regulars know when the bins are getting switched too. This review is just about the bins, because I don't shop in the regular store part (lots of stuff for $5-$7, which seems like a lot?) but the BINS! Go to the bins! It was kind of a madhouse in there when my sister and I went around 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon. A worker rolled out a new bin full of stuff and was SWARMED by shoppers. We steered clear of that situation, but found some really cool stuff elsewhere. Roughly 40% of the clothes in the bins is huge older man clothes, another 30% is huge older woman clothes, and about 20% is kids stuff (REALLY cute stuff in there for kids and toddlers). The remaining 10% is a little bit of everything else -- dresses, sweatshirts, smaller sizes, a pair of snowpants, a huge yellow fisherman-looking snap-up outfit, underwear? I like the books section (paperbacks 25¢ and hardcovers 50¢, but some books have $1.99 or $2.99 stickers on them) and I found some cool and interesting stuff. Paid $3.00 for two pairs of workout shorts, a rain jacket, and two books. My sister spent about $8.00 on two pairs of pants, a dress, a sweatshirt, and some other stuff. The random stuff bins (the section with puzzles, games, baskets, toys, etc) was kind of a mess. It seemed to have a lot of broken stuff and garbage in there, so I'd steer clear of that section, but the clothes and books bins are great if you have the time to dig a little. read more

Can't vouch for the retail store as time didn't allow, but the outlet is the best of any Goodwill outlets I've been to. Although on the smaller side it's packed with good stuff. Same bins and pay by pound policies as the others but the merchandise was much better. Glassware and housewares has a lower per pound price than clothes but also weighs more. I don't think the dealers discovered the goodies here yet because no one was buying mounds and mounds of clothes for resale. The other customers were respectful and unlike other locations respected your space, if you were in a bin they went to another. Forget what you think you know about Goodwill cast off furniture as the stock here was all in good shape and extremely cheap. Immediately upon walking in we eyed a set of wicker bar stools that would have been perfect for the space my friend was renovating. The entire set of 5 were only $15 and were in great condition. We immediately asked the cashier to mark them sold, however they already were because the "ticket" was gone. So if you see a great furniture piece GRAB THE TICKET! Otherwise even if it's on the floor it's considered sold if that magical ticket is missing. Womp, womp! While my friend and I were disappointed that we came a few minutes too late to grab those great stools we still found other amazing deals. Her a few clothing pieces and myself a mixed batch - including a set of 12 crystal glasses still in the box for $6, a like new Coldwater Creek jacket, a licensed, never used Nightmare before Christmas backpack for my granddaughter, a Children's Place spring jacket for my grandson, a white picture frame, and a few leisure pieces for dressing down. Total for all including the glasses - a whooping $11!!! While sometimes finding a cart can be problematic at the outlets it wasn't here. The staff was also very friendly and they supplied bags (other locations you must bring your own). As always come prepared to hunt (that's part of the fun!), if you love it grab it, bring gloves if you're a germaphobic and hand sanitizer, and remember you can't try anything on....but what do you have to lose? With the pay by pound price policy clothes are literally pennies. And if you can't find it in the outlet head next door to the retail store. Can't wait to go back! read more

I am incredibly upset due to the removal of the bins at the Avondale goodwill. The store section of this goodwill is extreme overpiced and the bins were an extremely good aspect of this goodwill. I am also concerned about what is being done with all of the clothes that were used in this section. There were so many clothes in the bins and there is no way they could be properly disposed of. i will no Long be visiting this goodwill nearly as much as before. I wish I had a better update to the Goodwill in Avondale PA but they continue to mystify me with their choices. They went from packed towers of homegoods to almost bare shelves. Evidently they now send a lot of donations to other Goodwills in PA. That may be fine for them, but loyal customers who have shopped there for decades are used to higher quality and quantity of decorative items, dishes, silver and just plain interesting stuff. Even though they have tried a few new layouts, the newest one is again made by someone who never drove a cart down one of their aisle. At the new checkout counter you run the risk of being bumped by a cart as customers try to navigate a corner. Or they just give up and back down the long aisle. Please distribute the quality merchandise to local customers! read more

Recently visited the Outlet and have to thank Ben for discretely and effectively addressing situations where customers were not following state COVID guidelines. Goodwill has been doing a great job during this pandemic and I feel very comfortable shopping there. read more

I used to get good deals here. I still stop in periodically, but a couple more stops like the last few and I won't come back. Items have been extremely OVER PRICED lately. Someone needs to tell the price setter that these items are given to Goodwill for free and shouldn't, in many instances, be priced higher than new. Many dollar store items set at $2.97 or more. Way too many items for $4.97-$9.97. I'm not paying that for anything at Goodwill. Also, the outlet center, which was good up to a few months ago, is now nothing but broken junk thrown in disgusting, disorganized bins. Truly awful as of late. read more

The outlet is not like any other Goodwill outlet that I've been to. Shoppers were very reserved and the bins to go through were small in quantity. Lots of books, lots of shoes, and lots of clothes. Very few housewares and things of that nature. On the store side it is very well organized, the staff is very friendly, and apparently there is some sort of club that you can join to receive extra discount. They also do returns at this location! I have never seen that before in a thrift store. I found the items to be a bit pricey, though. And the selection of clothing seem to be more on the middle-aged side as opposed to younger selections. There were, however, lots of children's clothes. Perhaps I'm just used to the Goodwills that are closer to my home, but I did not buy anything, nor do I think I will be returning. read more

The Goodwill Store items are overpriced. Many times they received Target clearance items and mark them up, even some damaged. For example there was a tumbler cup from Target for $3.99, which this Goodwill was selling for $7.50. I saw Dollar Tree items for $3-4. Shoes are overpriced as well. read more

Disappointing. Every time I go in to the outlet, they change their pricing policies. Twice they have increased their price per pound without changing the signs on the wall. No one knows until checkout. The latest is that they don't combine the per pound pricing if you are buying housewares and clothing even though the sign states that the two are combined for pricing purposes. People shopped for a long time making careful purchases only to get to the register to find that none of it is as advertised. Many times, it is cheaper to not buy on the outlet side. They are planning to increase prices again. Doesn't require an MBA to figure out that prices are too high and that's why product isn't moving in the first place. They are trying to act like a retail store on the outlet side. Also learned from the staff that they do not treat their staff well at all, even the disabled staff that they promote as who they help in connection with their mission. Needs a management change at the highest level. Witnessed repeated attempts to discuss issues with management and even wasted my time trying to talk to them. Skip this store. Go to the Goodwill Outlet in Delaware or Lancaster, and please donate your goods to the Habitat For Humanity ReStore in Kennett Square, PA instead. They give a 25% coupon for the store anytime you donate. They are professional, treat their staff professionally, and they help the local community we live in.
