I took some clothing in to sell on consignment, and one of the items was a beautiful (and expensive) red silk Chinese style dress. I paid almost $300 for this dress, and mentioned that to her when I dropped it off. I was asked if I wanted to pick up any unsold items after a month, or if I wanted to donate them to a worthy cause. I agreed to donate them. After all, I had gone from a size 3 to a 5 and they didn't fit me anymore. However, the oddest thing occurred... While in there the next day, I noticed several of the items I had brought in on the racks, but not that dress. My friend and I joked that it probably never made it to the rack, because either Charlotte or one of the employees might have bought it immediately, since we are all about the same size. If that was not the case, then it must have sold the same day. Either way, it was fine with me, and I expected to have a check waiting the next week for at least the dress. However... When I went back a week later to see what had sold, I was handed a check for $4. She said the only thing that had sold was a pair of my son's jeans. I looked around the store for the dress, and it was nowhere to be found. I checked back each week for a month, and never saw the dress...nor did I ever see a red cent for it. At the end of that month, I was told that the dress had not sold and was "donated". Since it never even made it to the rack, I am pretty sure that I know who it was "donated" to... Obviously, I stopped bringing clothing there, and stopped shopping there as well.
