What was especially great was that the boat slips were covered. The only problem was that sone of the slips closer to the shore were extremely shallow but we parked our boat in a shallow spot (3ft) and we were fine but this is probably not going to be a problem for you because the lake was lowered by 2ft because there was a hurricane going up the coast and the mild thunderstorms that would reach the lake would probably flood it. Other than that the campsite was wonderful and I enjoyed my stay.

Our dogs loved exploring the fields and beautiful trails with us. The creek sounds lulled us to sleep and what I really loved was the trees shading us from morning sunlight so my early riser child didn't feel the need to wake me up at 5:30 in the morning to go on another adventure. The sites are spacious with a fire pit and picnic table. Overall, it was a great night!

Fairystone, VA State Park is my 32nd VA State Park. This is…read moreone of my favorites! I booked a really nice Yurt for two nights. Has outside electrical and outside water pump. Restroom is a short walk away. The whole backside was open land. The whole left side was wooded. There was a picnic table, fire ring and another water source there as well as a small 4 seat wooden table on my wrap around porch! It was perfect. The trails were quite strenuous at times. Its rocky and steep! I took a 9 mile trail, linking trails together to tackle the Little Mountain Falls Trail. Beautiful views. Sunday morning I was on top of the mountain by 10am! Wooo. My pictures won't show the beauty that it was...but I was in love. Sitting on the porch with my binoculars.. I spotted a big, red headed wood pecker just having a blast out there pecking around. So many birds out there. It was very relaxing. - I brought my iron skillet and cooked up some salmon, zucchini and the $0.97 small cup of mac and cheese from Walmart! Fabulous dinner the first night. - I didn't, however go the "beach" or kayak. The roped off beach section, isn't the same w/o kids but I should have gone kayaking. So much to do. This VA State Park is one of my top 4, so far.

Like most VA state parks, they do a cash self-pay entrance, so you would either want to have an annual pass or some small bills. Cell reception was quite limited for me in this remote area, which may be what you want out of coming to a park.

The manager of the campground was very friendly and helpful. He showed us to our site, saying to be sure to let him know if we needed anything or had questions. The next morning, our truck would not start, and he and his wife were so kind and helpful. He even came to our site, crawled under the truck to see if he could figure something out. His wife checked to see if any local mechanics were open on a weekend and made sure we were able to stay in our site as long as was needed till we could get to a dealership that would have the parts and mechanics on hand to diagnose and fix our truck. The manager even drove my husband in to town to pick up a few needed items at a local store! We really appreciated the way they extended such hospitality, going above and beyond to help us out. We will come back here again, for sure, the next time we are back in this area!

Drive all the way to the end of the road to reach the playground and beach area with shallow water that is perfect for kids. Bathrooms are clean and include lots of changing stalls. We saw many hiking trails and will be back to explore those. Nature was pristine -- so well maintained, no trash, absolutely gorgeous. We felt like we were in a magical place on a vacation, not right within Durham. We will be back regularly!

Well kept and part of the AT so you'll see a variety of people. Amenity wise, there are port a potties at the main lotbut no trash bins. The main lot is pretty small but there's a shuttle that will carry you for a different parking lot since the main lot only has about 20 spots and can fill up pretty quick. I came on a Saturday in mid July at 8AM and it only had about 5 spots left. As I was leaving, a group was celebrating someone finishing their leg of the AT, so seems also like a good meet point. Trail was great but a little strenuous because length, but the incline actually wasn't horrible. The heat is real in July, so pack your water and some snacks for energy so you can make it back to the parking lot.

Deep River Campground is located in a rural area of Asheboro North Carolina. It sits with…read morepeacefully between a small lake and Deep River (which leads to the Cape Fear river basin). It is very pet friendly (many campers have dogs) with trails along the lake and to the river. It's a popular fishing spot, although we didn't go since it's winter as of this writing. Bobby, who maintains the grounds is super helpful & attentive to any challenges that arise with the site and our needs. Scott, the owner, was very accommodating. And Linda in the office was just as sweet as can be. We would definitely recommend this campground and have had an amazing experience here. Thanks to the staff for all you do if they read this!!

I REALLY REALLY WISH they had a dog park would really make the icing on the cake!! But has a pools, laundry room, showers, playground, fishing and game room!! All around very enjoyably!! Only bad note I have is and it's not their fault there is a gun range somewhere in the area and at times they shoot pretty late but it's not all the time thankfully!!! Other then that it really is must see campgrounds!!!
