I went to 4 different doctors trying to get my hip fixed after a workplace injury. Doctor Gordon Lundy was a breath of fresh air in a frustrating process. He was the most professional and the most polite. My second visit with Dr. Lundy was Thursday 8/31 at 2:15pm. Objective of the visit was to review MRI results. One hour and 15 minutes had gone by. One hour and 15 minutes! Dr. Lundy still had not come in. By then, I opened my exam room, for it was rather warm. I saw and heard Dr. Lundy open and close various exam rooms. I went up to the Receptionist and informed her that I was leaving. Waiting one hour and 15 minutes is unacceptable. On my way out, I noticed that the waiting area had four additional patients waiting. How long have these poor patients been waiting? If Dr. Lundy has difficutly handling time management, he should book fewer appointments in the day. A patient's time is just as important as a doctor's time. With drive time in and out of the city, my total time spent was 2 hours and 45 minutes. In a nutshell, this particular experience was unacceptable unempathetic care. read more

I LOVE Dr. Lundy! He's very professional, knowledgeable, kind, great bed side manner, attentive, caring, personable, patient, and very funny! If I had a question of concern, anything that came up, I could call him on his cell phone or the office and would immediately be directed to him. I was very impressed how quickly I can get in touch with him and surprised to have his personal number to make that call at anytime. On 9/24/12, I had dislocated my right ankle, fractured heel, broken fibula, and tore ligaments playing softball from someone stepping on me when sliding to second base. I was referred to see Dr. Lundy on 9/26/12 and then he reviewed my xrays and said that I needed ankle ORIF surgery! I was then given clear explanation on what my options were and to be sure I will be comfortable with my decision to go in for surgery as it was the obvious choice due to how my bone was broken. He gave me more detailed information on what to expect and the entire process of the surgery and after. He also educated me on the procedure and explained both the pros and cons of healing. I felt really relaxed around him but of course naturally very nervous about the surgery. His front desk staff were very nice and always greeted me and knew my name. Lana was the one that assisted me most, and one time gave me some food because I mentioned I was hungry and waiting to eat lunch! Everyone there is so kind. I left the office with an appointment to go into surgery on that Friday, 9/28/12. Surgery day came and everything went so well! Dr. Lundy made sure to check in on me before he left and also the next day he showed up in person to check in on me before I checked out of the hospital! I have never felt so cared for from a doctor! We had our next appointment set up to see him for a followup to remove my dressing and get a new cast. I went home with a plate and 9 screws in my right ankle! Within those few weeks, my scar healed up really nicely. Everyone at Physical Therapy and even friends of mine who worked at that same hospital said that I had a really nice scar and agreed Dr. Lundy is a great surgeon. My friends, a nurse and radiologist also worked with Dr. Lundy and gave great compliments about him. He's wonderful to work with and a great doctor they say! Said that I'm in great hands! I just graduated from Physical Therapy on Tue. 5/7/13! I can say that I now feel close to 100%! After about 7 months, I can now run! I am still in a healing process and progressing in my running progression program. I thank Dr. Lundy for the great job he did and his fun positive personality really topped it off to make my healing process even better. I am so happy to be back on my feet! This entire experience was not one bit uncomfortable for me. I go into every follow up with comfort and leave feeling even better. He is definitely the best doctor visits I've had! read more

A surprising complication from an earlier knee surgery found me in Dr. Lundy's office late on a Friday afternoon. He spent nearly an hour with me, and then called me throughout the weekend. A Sunday morning surgery didn't phase him. His bedside manner, patience with my questions and knowledge/sharpness is fantastic. If I could give Dr. Lundy 10 stars, I would. I saw Dr Lundy three years ago and he was fantastic. He is caring and correctly diagnosed my problem. He performed surgery on a fellow colleague with wonderful results six years later. I too had issues with his billing dept and I had two PPO insurances, however it is unfair to rate a physcian based on his billing dept. His bedside manner and surgical skill are independent of the billing dept. I would gladly deal with the billing dept and know that I have a competent surgeon versus having no issues with billing and an incompetent surgeon. Just deal c the billing and leave the physcian out of it. They spend half their life in training on the human body not in medical billing. read more

As I hit my 6 month replacement milestone today, I wanted to thank Gordon Lundy and his staff, especially Tiffany so much for a very successful knee surgery!   I am getting near the end of a 3 month, real estate upgrade It has been very physically demanding, and I'm happy to say, "I rarely even thought of my knee!"   I frequently ask myself, where did I leave that goddam tape measure/ screwdriver/phone/glassses, which required that I go up and down the stairs hundreds of times. I can happily say that it hasn't felt this good in 20 years! I really appreciate the professionalism, the communication, cooperation and the guidance that this complex process requires for a good outcome. Tiffany was very responsive to any dumb question I had, and Dr Lundy would always make you feel like he had all the time in the world to address my concerns. I went to see Dr. Lundy after having a full Achilles rupture. He came as a recommendation from the ER room at CPMC, and I'm glad I went with their recommendation. He is an intelligent doctor that can break things down so that you easily understand them; he also adds a bit of humor. I never felt uncomfortable about my surgery or the post-op process. The surgery went off without a hitch, and he did a great job minimizing the incision. For Achilles surgeries, he goes with the approach of putting you in a boot immediately after surgery which helps the healing process. I couldn't disagree more with a recent review about his receptionist; they have been great to me since day 1! Elana, his dedicated receptionist, and the rest of the staff, have been wonderful and they frequently go out of their way to help. I was injured on a Sunday and called on a Monday to get an appointment that same day and surgery that Thursday. Every situation is unique, but you have to understand they have a very busy office because he is such a great doctor! I'd recommend Dr. Lundy for orthopedic surgery, especially for Achilles ruptures! read more

I had been suffering from leg, groin, and back pain for the past few years. As an avid tennis player, cyclist, and walker, this was starting to get in the way of my activity. After trying every type of body work, and spending thousands on physical therapy, Rolfing, massage, chiropractic services, and stretching routines, I was still in pain, especially after walking and playing sports. Finally I got an MRI. The first doctor I visited said "you've got severe osteoarthritis in your right hip, but your good for another ten years before you need surgery". That was not going to work for this active guy. I did not like the idea of being in this kind of pain for another ten years. I certainly didn't want to stop my sporting activities and walking. I paid a visit to my primary care doctor,who recommended Dr. Lundy, along with three other orthopedic surgeons, because several of his patients had good results. I met with Dr. Lundy, who spent 3 hours going over my MRI results, options for surgery, discussing my lifestyle and sporting activities, and giving me a complete list of what to expect with a hip replacement surgery. He was thorough, friendly, and always returned my calls when I had questions. My surgery went perfectly. I was up and walking the same day, and within a couple weeks, was back on the stationary bike, walking a mile, then two miles, then 5 miles by week four. I'm 5 weeks in and feel great (not playing tennis yet but that will come). His staff (Tiffany Clifford) were extremely friendly and helpful through the whole process. Tiffany helped me with my disability insurance and even took some of it home on the weekend to get it in on time. I highly recommend Dr. Lundy for a hip replacement surgery. I feel so fortunate that after my recent accident I was referred to Dr Lundy. I am a runner and I broke my patella (knee) while running across Van Ness and hit a construction sign and fell. Dr Lundy clearly cares about all his patients with the goal to get them back to normal. Everyone in my family, except for me, is a physician. Surgeons, and orthopedic surgeons in particular, have a reputation for being curt and not very personable. I went to see Dr. Lundy on a referral from my primary care physician, and it turned out I needed a new hip (I was 48 at the time, but was a professional dancer when I was younger). I can't emphasize strongly enough how good my experience was being treated by Dr. Lundy. He's an extremely competent -- perhaps even gifted -- surgeon (I had my dad check him out, and also speak with him -- he's a tough grader, and he gave his unqualified endorsement). But, just as importantly, he's kind; He understands that even well-informed patients have some anxiety, and therefore lots of questions, before undergoing major surgery. He patiently answered all my questions, and was sympathetic when I had to put off surgery while I started a business. I was in the hospital for almost a week after the operation. I was discharged on a Friday before a 3-day weekend. He wanted to send me home (and I wanted to go home) but was uneasy about the long weekend. I was surprised when he just gave me his cell phone number and said to call him if anything seemed out of the ordinary. It's an understatement to say that it's unusual for a physician to give his private phone number to a patient, but it's a good example of how personable and supportive Dr. Lundy is. Today is my 1-year check-up following the hip resurfacing. I'm pleased with the results, and have no hesitation in giving Dr. Lundy the highest recommendation. read more

Dr Lundy has been seeing me for a badly broken humerus for 4 months. He came highly recommended by 2 colleagues who had knee surgery with him. The office staff were able to squeeze me in for an appointment 3 days after I broke my arm, and this was crucial to a successful recovery; it was still early enough for Dr Lundy to send me for the arm to be placed in a special brace and subsequently heal without surgery. The splint the ER had put me in had not held the bone in the right place, and the brace did the trick. I have found Dr. Lundy to be fun, friendly, and take time as much time to answer questions as needed. Compared to another doctor I consulted with later about my injury, Dr Lundy has been far more punctual, and given me far more opportunity to ask questions and get advice on healing and recovery. I hope I never need an orthopedic surgeon again, but if I do, I'll be giving Dr. Lundy a call straight away. read more

I initially went to Dr. Lundy as a referral from my primary doctor to treat a torn Achillies tendon. Upon his diagnosis he recommend surgery and four days later I was under the knife. I just want to echo all of the accolades for Dr. Lundy. In addition to being kind, knowledgeable and a gifted surgeon, he's also very funny. I had been suffering for the better part of 5 years with a failing hip. He made sure I knew what my options were and encouraged me to explore nonsurgical methods until it was clear surgery was my only option for getting back to a normal life. He and his staff walked me through what needed to be done leading up to surgery including making sure I knew the best place to park the day of. The surgery went off without a hitch and the hospital staff had me up and walking the same day. What he did through the short incision he made and how he stitched it back up is a work of art. The scar is already smooth and, less than 5 months later, I am almost back to 100%. Can't recommend him highly enough. read more

WOW! I feel lucky to be Dr. Lundy's patient! I had a total knee replacement 4 weeks ago today. Psoriatic arthritis pretty much destroyed it over a ten-year period. Chronic pain and mobility issues persisted for about 18 months prior to the surgery. I had put it off because the recovery scared me... Boy was I wrong! I have about 90% range of motion and I'm nearly pain-free. Recovery has been far easier than I anticipated. The hospital, home PT therapist and outpatient PT therapist have all made comments like "boy did you have an awesome surgeon." I couldn't agree more! In addition to fantastic technical acumen, Dr. Lundy's bedside manner is spectacular. He did a very thorough job explaining every aspect of the surgery, recovery, what to expect, etc. He returned all calls and email inquiries promptly and even phoned me one evening just to check on me. I couldn't have asked for better care. I would be remiss if I didn't mention Lana and Tiffany in the office. They mirror the superstar status bestowed on Dr. Lundy. I am 6 months post ACL replacement surgery and I just celebrated New Year's by solo snow shoeing up a mountain in Yosemite. I am riding my horse a few times a week and aside from some mild stiffness, I feel great! Dr. Lundy and his team are terrific. Three weeks ago Gordon Lundy replaced my right hip. He previously repaired my left clavicle after a gym accident and replaced both of my husband's hips... so I feel qualifed to post this review. He is a wonderful doctor and I can't rave about him enough. He's very skilled and talented (he kids that he's more of a carpenter than a doctor, having to saw off the top of the femur, etc.), keeps up with all the latest techniques, is very accessible, has a sense of humor, and answered all of our questions. Before my surgery I heard so much about the "anterior method" and was concerned that I was going to get the "old fashioned posterior method" for total hip replacement. We talked about this and he told me how much the posterior method has improved and that the outcome will be the same. So here I am after three weeks with a 9 mm (less than 3-inch scar), already walking unaided (although I take my hiking poles outside when I walk hills and steps, as a reminder to me that I'm still healing and to others to keep their kids and pets away.). I was discharged from the hospital after two days and on the day of discharge walked by myself up 44 steps with the aid of one crutch. Since them I've had magnificent home health care from a team at Carelink Home Health Services (I'll post separately about them). From the beginning I was in highly capable hands. Lana and the others in the office are so easy to work with, the nurses and other professionals at CPMC were wonderful. Kudos to Dr. Lundy for doing the excellent job he did. Dr Lundy performed a total knee replacement surgery on me in Feb 2009. This is a long, complicated & painful surgery. I had great confidence in him. He & his staff were wonderful. He answered all of my preop questions, saw me at least once a day in hospital & was very attentive in the post op. The after care is very important and he made sure I had what I needed for my knee to recover properly. He always explained what he was going to do and why. I would say that one needs to wait a bit for office visits, but I think that is just the way it is. I have found the front desk staff to be very accomodating and helpful, they are also great. I hope not to need anymore orthopedic surgeries, but if I did, Dr. Lundy would be the one. I highly recommend him to help one through a difficult surgery..He is highly skilled, answers question with patience and has a great sense of humor and he cares. Dr. Lundy YOU ROCK. read more

She was unfriendly and not empathetic about my urgency as a new patient whatsoever. I was willing to go pay to see the doctor until I found out the cause of my pain and calling the office was just a horrible nightmare. I have seen Dr. Lundy on March , 2013 that was three months prior to my surgery . During the visits, he explained to me what was the risks of my total hip replacement surgery and how I getting recovery in details. Finally, my surgery was done on June18, 2013, and he was doing an excellent job on my total hip replacement since I getting much better than before the surgery. Right now, I am still come back to his office as follow up, and going to physical therapy. He is very professional, kind, patient, knowledge and caring to his patients. Her office staffs are very nice and helpful. In closing, I thought I was very lucky to choose him as my surgeon since they are so many in the industrial.
