They provide many ways of assuring that the move will go as planned and that any unexpected challenges would be taken care of if they arose. I had a last minute move and called several moving companies for estimates. Totally shocked at how much I was quoted for moving 6 pieces of furniture. Granted, the largest item was a 3 seater pull out sofa bed but the rest were small, miscellaneous items. Gordon's Moving company was obviously one of the companies I called. Cathy could not have been nicer when I inquired about the cost and she set up an appointment. Within a day or so, Gordon came out to look at what I needed moved. Very courteous and professional and totally understood my predicament. He came up with a very reasonable fee with a minimum charge of 2 hours, which was more than enough time. If you want a 5*star service with a down-to-earth-no-nonsense company, this is the company for you. Cannot speak more highly of the professional and caring attitude that was shown to me. I originally hired Gordon's Moving several years ago to move stuff between our offices and our storage facility. In the past 5 or so years not only have we had them back at least annually for our offices, but we have referred them to our employees. I personally hired Gordon's to move from my old home in Richmond to my new home in Gardiner; as always they arrived ready to work. Gordon himself is on every job and they way he teaches his employees about proper techniques and customer communication is a great attribute. The young men are not only polite and helpful, but they have fun while they are working. Moving can be very stressful, but to have a capable, efficient and cost effective moving team really alleviated my stress. I highly recommend Gordon's Moving to anyone in Maine. read more

This company sucks. I left them THREE messages and they didn't even have the courtesy to call me back. I wouldn't hire them now if they moved me for free. I was told by another person that maybe they were at a cheering competition with their daughter. REALLY!! They came recommended to me and I don't understand why. I scheduled a move with Gordon's Moving a few days before the closing on my new home. The woman that I spoke with was pleasant and explained that they would arrive at the storage facility around 2pm with a Gordon's Moving truck. After I closed on my new home I went to the storage facility and waited for the Gordon's moving truck to arrive. Around 2:15pm a ****** Rental truck pulled up the drive of the storage facility followed by a white car full of young guys. The truck stopped next to my vehicle and the young man in the passenger seat of the ****** truck got out and approached my car. I asked if they were with Gordon's moving. He said "yes". I explained that I had been expecting a Gordon's Moving truck, not a ****** rental truck. I asked if I could please see a business card or identification to verify they were with Gordon's since they were not wearing any hats or shirts to identify them as Gordon's moving and they had a ****** Rental truck. The young guy said he didn't know if they had any business cards. At this point the driver leans out and asks what the problem is. I explained that I was expecting a Gordon's Moving truck and that I would like to see a business card or identification to verify that they are with Gordon's Moving. He said "you're kidding, right?!" and said that the Gordon's truck was in the shop. I told him that I was not kidding and that I did not know them, so I just wanted to verify that they were indeed with Gordon's Moving. I was by myself and everything I own was in the storage unit, so I felt I needed to verify that they were indeed with Gordon's Moving. He said he could show me his driver's license. As he was handing his license to me I said that I was just going to call the office and verify that he was with Gordon's (since I don't know him or any of the other people in the car that followed). He yanks his license out of my hand before I can even look at it and says "no you're not calling!!!" and he angrily ranted about how long he has been in this business and that his integrity has never been questioned. This was very alarming to me that he would not want me to call and verify that he was with Gordon's moving. I told him that I was not questioning his integrity and that I just wanted to verify that they were with Gordon's Moving. He said "forget this, I am out of here". I immediately called the Gordon's office number and explained to the woman that a ****** rental truck pulled up and she said "Oh yes our truck is in the shop. I apologize; I should have called you to let you know". I said thank you for verifying and we hung up. I did not explain to her at that time what the driver had said because I thought I would address it directly with the owner later. As soon as I got off the phone, the young guy got back in the passenger seat of the ****** Rental truck and the driver started the truck and began pulling away and left the storage facility. I looked at the four guys standing around the white car and they looked confused and then they got in their car and drove off too. I called the office back and explained to the woman what the driver had said to me and that he had left the storage facility! She couldn't believe that they would do that and said she would call them right away and call me back. About 10 minutes went by and she had not called me back, so I called her. She said that she called the driver and he had yelled at her and hung up. She said she had called him a dozen more times and he would not answer. I asked her "is this guy someone your company hired?" She said the driver is her husband and he is Gordon, the owner of the company. I told her that I could not believe that the owner of the business would act in such an unprofessional manner!!! I told her that I wouldn't want him to come back, because he was so rude and made me very uncomfortable. As the owner of the company he should have been more than understanding that I would want to verify that he was with his moving company given the fact that they had a ****** Rental truck, no business cards/uniforms or anything to identify them as Gordon's Moving Company, but instead he was rude, smug and a complete jerk. I was left to scramble to find another mover on very short notice. I was very distraught and I will never recommend this company to anyone after the way I was treated. I am telling everyone about this horrible experience!! NEVER USE GORDON'S MOVING OR YOU COULD BE LEFT SCRAMBLING TO FIND ANOTHER MOVER. read more
