Midwest Moving was very communicative from the moment we reached out to them. Their quote was reasonable; however, I was fairly certain that they had underestimated the time, which they had. I believe they charge you from the time they leave their facility until the time they return, so keep that in mind when estimating your own cost and keep careful track of when they come and go so that you don't get charged more as that almost happened to us. Their employees were friendly and polite and arrived within the timeframe they had promised. We had three guys show (instead of the two that were expected). They moved the furniture fairly quickly as we had a tight window to complete the move on both ends. Unfortunately, there were a couple of items (an electric fireplace and a shelf that we are aware of thus far) that we discovered had minor damage, so be sure to wrap everything carefully that you really care about. They also forgot to bring some of the bolts for the bed frame (which we discovered later) and their drill from the first location, so my husband had to drive back to original house to let them in. Despite these few issues, we were happy to have movers who actually showed up when promised and did what they said they were going to do. We would absolutely consider using them again. read more

We were able to schedule this multi- state move with less than a week's notice. There were supposed to be 3 movers, but only 2 arrived for the job. The 2 guys were so pleasant and really hustled though. After the move was complete, we found a small gouge in an acoustic tile in the stairwell, but no other damage. ZERO STARS. I have had a horribly unprofessional and overall shady experience using Midwest moving company. DO NOT USE THESE MOVERS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE CHARGED ASTRONOMICALLY MORE THAN AGREED APON. I was originally quoted a price to which I agreed after spending a great deal of time combing through and entering my personal inventory and living arrangements, I agreed to a number of movers (two movers) and a time frame that was estimated to me based off my information and number of boxes and furniture (2 hours). In addition to this I had finalized all my info with an employee working in their office. They sent me an extra person, to which I was charged for, and couldn't refuse. The movers had NONE of the information I had sent into the company and confirmed via phone call. The movers I had were unaware that I was moving out of a third floor apartment, leaving them without the proper equipment and plan ahead. The workers also let me know that the office employee is new and "consistently has been messing up". They let me know that the quoted time by Midwest moving that I had been priced for, was not in any way accurate, as moving a studio apt on a first floor would generally take 2+ hours let alone my 1 bedroom on a third floor. They openly admitted to their office completely messing it up, and to this being the "norm" for the business. In addition to this the movers informed me that they did not bring and would never suggest to use the TV boxes the company asks you initially if you need and must use to transport TVs. "They don't fit most TVs and are expensive without being totally protective" as said by the three movers I had. I was charged for two TV boxes that were NOT provided. Because you must put a deposit down to reserve your moving date, they charged me $900 dollars more than my quote. I did fill out many estimates with different companies when deciding which movers to use. The only reason I went with Midwest was because of the low price and the seemingly then attentiveness with the follow up phone calls to finalize. THIS WAS A SCAM! They overcharged me and gave me no options! They have since been dodging my phone calls and emails after calling to dispute the charges! I spoke with an employee and they agreed over the phone my final invoice was incorrect and I should be partially refunded. They said I would hear back from management by end of day. That was last week!!! They have been dodging me ever since. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS. read more

We had the truck arrive on time and the two workers were very quick and efficient. Our move was easy with this company.

After an extremely stressful cross country move, the final step was hiring Midwest Moving to move all my earthly possessions from a tractor trailer to a storage facility nearby. A day before the move I saw that there was snow in the forecast and contacted the company to share my strong concern about my cardboard boxes getting wet during the move before being placed in long term storage. They assured me that plastic would be placed on the floor of the moving truck so as to mitigate the moisture. This was NOT done and upon arrival I noticed that all of my boxes had been sitting in muddy snow during the loading process, despite asking them specifically to make sure plastic was down in their truck. I was additionally frustrated that one of the two gentleman had Air Pods on therefore not paying attention to any of my instructions. I also caught him on his phone several times during the loading process alone. As they were loading my storage unit, I had to repeatedly go in and take feather light plastic bins of Christmas ornaments off the bottom rows as boxes filled with photo albums were being stacked on top of them. So much time (and my money) was wasted on the job of standing around discussing where things should be stacked and loaded into the storage unit which was then executed completely inefficiently and incorrectly that as my 3-hours of contracted time was coming to a close I asked the men to leave everything left in the truck on the pavement in front of my storage unit and stop working. I told them that my 80 year old mother and I would do the rest. By the time they got the billing department on speaker phone, I was told that I was being charged for 4 hours, not 3. When I challenged the billing department to explain to me how they came to charge me for a full extra hour, to the tune of $150, he said it was the driving time the movers took to get to the first location where the tractor trailer was located. I then asked the movers how long it took them to drive there and they said 10 minutes. I paid the movers in cash for 3 hours and 10 minutes of work and the billing department asked if he should put the remainder (of the 4th full hour he was trying to bill me for erroneously) on the card on file. I adamantly said no, not until I was able to clear the matter up with management on the next business day. My mother and I proceeded to spend two hours repacking the front portion of the storage unit that was packed so poorly AND fit in all the many items left outside on the pavement in the 38° weather. When I spoke to "management" on the next business day, a gentleman listened and seemed to write down all of my concerns and disappointments. He said that it appeared many things went wrong with my move and that he would get back to me. Within 10 minutes, I received a stock text message saying that they would improve their training process so as to improve future customer's experiences and that they would not be doing anything to rectify the horrible experience I had with their company. Buyer beware, moving is stressful enough. Do not trust a company that clearly is more concerned with getting paid than doing the job right. read more
