I have beautiful used items from cities all over the world: Reykjavík, Tromsø, Perth, Berlin, Hamburg, Copenhagen, Montreal, Halifax, and now I can add Ottawa to the list. All is to say: world class vintage dresses found here at SVP! I scored really beautiful designer and stylish vintage frocks here, all in amazing condition, for a steal of a deal - only $6-$8 for dresses, and even less for that gorgeous pussywillow-grey silk blouse with a scooped neck and 3/4 length sleeves! Honestly, I have a hard time writing reviews for these places because I feel like I want to hoard all of the treasures to be found there for myself! But, I also have to give kudos to this place - everything is affordable, well-organized and supporting the planet in its efforts to recycle and offset the fast fashion fiasco that is polluting our beloved earth. My choice to shop places like this is political, not just economical. I just want to contribute less to that growing mountain of cheap clothing that clogs the landfills. I know, I know, I still fly places and consume jet fuel, but we do what we can, right? I was first drawn to this store by its amazing window display - it was a war-time 1940s theme and I was sucked in right away. Also, someone is responsible for the beautiful fashion assemblages inside that adorn the front of every rack - this place has an edge that not a lot of secondhand clothing stores have! I have to admit, I'm kind of addicted. There are more items than just clothing, too - lots of household goods, so if you are inspired to make a juicy margarita at home tonight, they've got a great collection of margarita glasses, etc etc etc - all your party needs.
