I explained that I really didn't know anything about convoluted taxes and the family-related firm we'd gone with the past 2 years had been highly problematic - which is why we needed a new person/firm. They explained that fees were based on the number of forms. I scanned mounds of pages for both 2023 and previous 2022 year. This sat, unreviewed, for a few of weeks. When the person did look at them - I received a nasty email stating how I had "blindsided" them. Our past filings included many more forms than I had any working knowledge of when I first contacted. They assumed we would balk at the price & accused me of "blindsiding". I have no clue about taxes - which is why we were looking for a professional to do them. Because of the OR portion, no, it is not particularly easy to find someone outside OR to do the job. (OR has law that a CPS MUST be certified to do OR taxes) We would've paid the fair price based on the # of forms it turned out to be.
