the entire heaton family and staff, parents alicia and chris, and daughter "beth" (my longtime primary point of contact) are simply wonderful and very accommodating. i have been using their services for 25 years and continue to do so EVEN AFTER MOVING TO FLORIDA! as you might imagine, florida is not lacking in CPAs available to help seniors with tax/financial matters. they are very pleasant to work with and you can always trust their judgment and knowledge. i consider myself lucky. read more

I was referred over to Heaton & Company by a co-worker of mine. She mentioned how great Beth was to her. I Called a couple of times during my breaks at work and was never able to get to a live person. By my third try I decided to leave a message on BETH's voicemail. I received a call same day from a girl named Jennifer (i'm assuming she handles the front office) and she states that they are not accepting any new clients, then I proceed to ask her if its forever? She responds with yes... I was pretty shocked in her response and asked again, then she responds with "We've maximized our capacity with clients and will not be able to help you" in a rushed tone to get off the phone with me. I then asked if she is able to maybe give me a referral to another office they may know of and she states "no we don't help people with that okay?" by this time I didn't appreciate her tone and I got very annoyed and frustrated at that point... this being the first time I'm in contact with this company they only get two stars because of the following: 1)can't accept me as a new client (which I can understand, they can only take so many clients and I've heard they are great) I was going to only give one star but since I never had services I was a little more understanding and added a 2nd star. 2) (the MAIN and pretty much ONLY REASON OF THE LOW RATING) Jennifer who represents the face of the company KILLED my first impression of ever wanting to give them business. Her overall phone etiquette lacks any fragment of great customer service skills, the only thing I appreciated was the actual phonecall to let me know they don't accept new clients. Other than that the experience with speaking to JENNIFER felt rushed, she was rude and never once did she say "thanks for calling we appreciate the business but unfortunately at this time we aren't accepting new clients" in customer service it's not necessarily about what you say but definitely on how you say it! It's about presentation. I spoke to my co-worker about it and she stated that she thinks she's the secretary or office clerk and she also stated her experience with her lacked any professionalism. I hear really great things about the services they provide but it's really sad to know that the front face of their company is being slandered by an ignoramus. read more

I was referred to Heaton by a satisfied customer, I had them do my taxes for several years and was happy with their service. I then decided to do my taxes myself for a few years. I got myself into a tax bind after a divorce and went back to Heaton with a box full of several years of paperwork.
