I had an extremely negative experience working with David Tuck on my 2015 taxes. He was: 1) Expensive - $1400 vs $600 for my current CPA 2) Incomplete - he failed to fully complete my return and filed it late 3) Incompetent: I overpaid taxes due to his lack of knowledge on residential rental businesses If you would like further details, read on: The time I was forced to spend working on my taxes far exceeded the time I would have spent if I had Turbotax or other software product. I believe received 3 notices from the IRS with further complications due to David's poor work. The scariest notice was when I received a letter from the IRS assessing a huge fine because of a "failure to file". David, apparently, after way to much back and forth via email, didn't even file my return on time. He also failed to fully fill out my tax return as I discovered over a year later when I applied for a mortgage. He had failed to fill out a section of the return dealing with some rental income. Thus when I applied for a loan, it appeared as if I had much less income in 2015. David displayed gross ignorance as to the potential ways to shield income from taxation using losses from other activities, thus I believe I significantly overpaid my 2015 taxes. My suspicion that I overpaid was confirmed by my current CPA who recommended refiling. A friend of mine also had a negative experience working with David and has since switched to my current CPA. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere when searching for a CPA. read more

I recently moved to Portland and was in need of a good tax preparer. Having been to many other tax preparing establishments before, I've grown very skeptical. So many of them take no time to really sit down and help you get all the deductions you are entitled to. They want you to pay them hundreds of dollars to basically fill out tax forms for you.
