First time here and we enjoyed our visit and Sue was delightful and let us taster quite a few different wines. Tasting room is very small so this was the first time after trying a couple previous times we found room to sit at the bar and taste. I really wanted to like the wines more since it was a good experienece but to my palate they were pretty average for Murphys nothing really stood out as a must buy. We left with a couple bottles wines but will stick to our favorite wineries in the area for future tastings. read more

Awesome wine tasting experience and I don't even normally drink wine. They had a selection of 22 wines and yes you can try them all if you want. From white to rose to red. It was such a great deal as it was $10 for a tasting and if you buy a bottle then it compensates for 2 tastings as well. Gary and Sue (owners - couple) were super friendly and knowledgeable and it was such a chill and casual environment to learn and drink wine. And they provided animal crackers as a snack as well which was very helpful as a snack to help keep sipping the wine. 100% recommend as a fun experience with or without friends/other people. read more

Walk the Wine Since we were visiting Murphys, affectionately referred to as "California's other wine country," we figured we should do a wine tasting. We're not winos by any stretch of the imagination, but as they say, when in Rome... After a cursory search of the Yelps, we decided on Gossamer Wines--mostly because it was one of the few that were still open--but the five-star average didn't hurt either. :) The Good: *Unlimited wine tasting for $10/ea *Wine tasting was free (for up-to two people) with the purchase of a bottle. *Bottles are very reasonably priced from the $20-30/ea range, with most falling in the $25 category. *Gossamer deals with mostly unique vintages of wine that one would be hard-pressed to find anywhere. *Sue was delightful and kept the pours coming. *hic* *I'm not sure what one other reviewer was mentioning, but prices are very clearly marked for both the tasting and wines themselves. The Meh: *Not the largest space, as there's probably only about seating for 8-10 and that might be pushing it. The Ugly: *They keep it a bit warm in there, especially on a hot summer day. I'm not sure if it's for the wine's sake, or they just like it warm? TLDR: Great place to taste unique wines and get to see what Murphys is all about. read more

Sue, the proprietor and wine maker's wife was so kind and accommodating. We tasted the full portfolio of reds ($10 tasting) and bought a half case of delicious and reasonably priced bottles. Sue was knowledgable but not pretentious. And she was warm and welcoming, not just to my husband and me, but our 4 and 6 year old boys too. I have never been to this town before and there are tons of testing rooms. It's a little overwhelming and you don't know where to start. So you pull up yelp and look at the ones with great reviews. This was one of them so it was my first stop. I tried several reds and the sparkling. There was not a single one that I would have chosen to have a glass of. They had hardly any flavor and almost taste and watered down. They were bland and boring. Surprised they were out of so many. I didn't really see an option to do a flight, they just let you try what you want. I had four very very small pores which was $10. There was no advertising or pricing anywhere that I could see how much that was gonna cost. Kind of odd. The best part was the animal crackers and the "tasting menu " Was hilarious. The owners were nice enough but it was not my cup of tea. I would not return for the wine read more

Gary was great and can only hope my future wine tastings are as fun and memorable. We talked about the local grapes and his experience as a bottler. We must have gone through 10 different wines (2 white and 9 reds) and was welcomed to more. The $10 tasting fee is comp'd with even a single bottle purchase. My friend was skeptical that they had practically a 5 star rating, but so glad we went and 5 stars is definitely deserved. As a wine neophyte, it was a great experience - I am warned that I should not expect anything even close this experience at other tasting rooms. The varieties at Gossamer are ones that you wouldn't find anywhere else. They are complex and so pleasant that you don't want to drink it too fast. What a fantastic visit we had on the day after Thanksgiving. They're dog friendly and down to earth people with some great wines. The "wine dude" as our pourer called him knows what he's doing. The white you have to guess the varietal blew my mind. The young lady who did our tasting was incredibly friendly and so patient as she opened bottle after bottle. My favorites were the Sangiovese and the Rascal. The Drinkerbelle t-shirts are great. Their wine gear for sale is hilarious. Darn it, I forgot to take home some of the flavored almonds! read more

Interesting tasting room. The pics of customers on the wall was a nice touch. The winemakers wife was the person serving our flight. She is warm, welcoming and chatty. They served over at least 15 tastings. None of them were above average in my opinion. Her husband makes "wine that he likes in case he doesn't sell it and has to drink it himself." Some of them he created himself that you've never heard of so could a be a unique experience for someone that likes very dry and bitter wines. The tasting was over 90minutes which to me is draining. I stopped accepting tastings after about an hour in. My friend was tipsy and wanted to keep taking them like shots. Oh they also have listed on their chalkboard a free tasting for a good review . So this 5 stars is most likely deceiving. read more

This is Murphy's best kept secret in that you don't want to miss this gem of a place up........it's so good. The wines are so amazing and you have so many wines to taste and can do them all or do some of them one day and follow up with the rest on another day. I did them all and the wine maker has a few surprises to let you taste and see if you know what it is? I missed it but was pleasantly surprised. I sat outside and enjoyed a warm autumn day, just before Thanksgiving, and I'm really glad I visited and tasted the wines and encourage you to check it out and spend some time here tasting.
