We visited Ironstone Vineyards to celebrate my daughter's birthday and it was such a beautiful place to spend the day. As you drive up, you're greeted by gorgeous landscaping and flowers everywhere -- the setting alone makes you want to slow down and stay awhile. We did a wine tasting and really enjoyed the wines. The Sauvignon Blanc was especially good -- crisp, refreshing, and perfect for a warm day. The Pinot Noir was also a standout, smooth and easy to sip. You can tell they put care into their wines, and there was something for everyone in our group to like. The grounds are spacious and peaceful, with views, gardens, and plenty of spots to wander or sit and relax. It feels more like an experience than just a quick tasting stop. The woman helping us was a bit reserved, but still helpful as we made our selections. Overall, Ironstone is a lovely place to visit if you're in the area -- great wine, beautiful scenery, and a relaxing atmosphere that makes for a memorable outing. read more

My husband and I had an elevated tasting with Buck! He was incredibly knowledgeable on everything and shared so much valuable history. He made this adventure one of a kind and the best tasting experience we have ever had. We walked around the property found out in September there is a car show and got to see how beautiful of a wedding venue they offer. Buck told us multiple stories about the history of Ironstone and the area. The bites with the tasting were absolutely delicious and paired so well. I have food allergies and they accommodated my needs with no issues at all. The wine was wonderful and I can't wait to go home and enjoy them with dinner or dessert. We really enjoy going to Ironstone Vineyards for their great wines, food and entertainment. The venue is a bit far for us, but generally go for their entertainment; enjoying concerts and other events such as car shows etc. The wine is awesome and they have plenty of food available. Enjoy the salads and sandwiches but other options are available as they appear to have special events for their wine club. The concerts are incredible! The venue is smaller which helps you avoid the crowds and enjoy the venue and the show allot more! read more

I took some friends for wine tasting and snacks Sunday March 29. I'm local to the area and have been here a couple times. Overall, the experience was good. The better service for wine tasting was off of the main bar, on the right. We ordered honey glazed pizza and a burger which were amazing! Their garden area and flowers are so pretty! The lady at the food counter was so rude though (round face/middle age). She told me that she would not cut a burger in half for my child when asked and waved me to plastic utensils like I was annoying her. When I was walking away upset, she sarcastically commented "thank you." She shouldn't be in customer service/was way too at home with that attitude, and I wished I hadn't tipped her already. Anyway, the lady assisting us with wine tasting was very nice so that made up for it. Bought 2 bottles of wine to enjoy at home. Havent wine tasted here in maybe 30 years we usually stick to downtown tasting rooms but wanted more of a beautiful winery experience and Irontstone delivered in that regard! I would rate the grounds and facility 5 stars its very pretty even the tasting room is grand with a gorgeous fireplace and plenty of places to sit and relax both inside and outside. Unfortunately we didnt taste many wines that we liked and they were pricey for what they were. We did go home with a Pinot and a Zinfandel that were decent but everything else just wasnt very good. The ladies pouring were nice but barely offered any information about the wines they just poured and sat back unless you asked questions. This was fine with us they just were not doing a good job selling the wine. In spite of that we had a great time enjoyed the venue but are not likely to return as there are so many other better wine makers offering a better value and quality product in the area. read more

I've been to two live music shows at Ironstone Vineyards now. Both times have been a unique and fun experience. Yesterday my husband and I saw Alison Kraus and Robert Plant here - thanks to a lovely friend who gifted us the tickets. Please note a couple of things if you plan on attending a show here: Arrive Early. My husband thankfully had the foresight to hit the road well in advance. We picked up 2 unopened bottles of water beforehand (make sure they are not glass bottles). We arrived around 5:10 pm. Doors didn't open up till 6:00pm - but there was already quite a long line when we got there. Bring a Clear See Through Plastic Bag. If you have the opportunity to buy an Ironstone Vineyards branded clear bag - do it. I've used it quite a few times since I purchased it. It's a nice size - and it makes entry to shows so much easier Bring a hat. We ended up standing in line before admittance for quite a while - and there wasn't much shade. Be sure to have a hat and a lightweight layer to cover your arms etc - if you're prone to burning like me. Bring a warmer layer. It did get a little colder in the evening, plus if you don't bring in a low chair - it's nice to have something to lay out on the grounds to sit on. Try to bring as little as possible in. Bring cash. There were some young porta potty staff on the grounds that were extra diligent about making sure that the port potties were well maintained and cleaned regularly in between patrons. They wisely left out tip boxes on top of the hand washing station. A cause well worth supporting in my eyes. Relax. The Ironstone Vineyards grounds are beautiful and if you get there early and find your spot - be sure to breathe and relax - so you can take it all in. I highly recommend hitting the road early. You do not want to get caught up in traffic leaving Ironstone. Trust me. The show last night was beautiful. Be sure to stay on top of Ironstone Vineyards' upcoming live music and event schedule for future acts.They have a diverse array of artists that come through the area - and if you heed some of the suggestions above - I'm sure you'll have a lovely time. March 8th, 2025, we took the Ironstone Winery's Estate Tour and private wine tasting/ canapés pairing for my daughter's 30th birthday at Ironstone Winery. Buck, our tour guide, was AMAZING and turned on the huge organ to play the Phantom of the Opera. The winery grounds and caves are beautiful and the Estate Tour was more than we expected. But what truly made it a life experience was how Buck blended the history of wine making, World history, & California history which affected wine makings. The wine/food pairing was perfection. The type of wine tasting was customized for our preferences. And the pizza, from their Cafe, was really delicious. All in all, 5 out of 5 stars. When we walked in, no one greeted us or even looked at us for several minutes. We just stood there awkwardly while they worked around us, completely ignoring us. When they finally did acknowledge us, it was with an attitude, and they even argued about who had to serve us--right in front of us. The whole time, we felt like a burden rather than welcome guests. Our wine tender was acting like she hates her job and didn't want to interact with us at all. She also continued to ignore everyone else who came in after us. It was embarrassing for me since I planned this visit for my birthday, and my friends felt awkward being there. I emailed the winery afterward to give them a chance to respond, but they ignored me--so here's the review instead. I understand being busy, but I've been to plenty of places who foresee that and have more people working (this was valentines weekend, it should have been expected and planned for). I've also been treated well by other places on a busy day. So, I definitely wouldn't recommend going here if you're looking to be treated nicely. I personally didn't like the wines either, however, some of my guests thought they were good. And I gave two stars because the actual winery is very nice. The Ironstone Vineyard was a beautiful outdoor venue for a wedding. The little lake that was situated behind it was serene and well kept. There were many different trees that provided the shade that was needed from the summertime heat. Plenty of seating for your guests as you are taking your photos and an area set up for beverages and appetizers did not disappoint. The food was incredible tasting and balanced. The venue has a separate area for dining. It is in a wine cave like area. Which lacks air fans or air conditioning. It was a warm evening and the dining area temperature raised adding 145 people to the space. I would say that was the only downside of this venue. Dancing was difficult in the heat although many had a great time on the dance floor. The area had a nice desert set up and plenty of space to move outside of the dining area. We were a bit close together for dinner. All in all the venue is beautiful the staff was accommodating, and the wedding was in a storybook setting . The venue inside was tight for dining, and very warm without any added air on a warm summer evening. The wedding was from 5 pm to 10 or 11 pm. We had been here for a visit once many years ago. We found ourselves in Murphy and decided to stop by again to visit the museum and the large piece of gold on display. This is an interesting place to stop. The jewelry shop is nice also. The grounds are beautiful! We don't drink wine, but if we did, this would be our favorite place. read more

If you're headed up to Murphys, you have to stop in at Ironstone Vineyards, it's kind of a destination winery. The wines: Whether you're having whites or reds, you won't be disappointed. We went for the reds and we ended up buying three bottles. My favorites were the Cab Franc and Petite Syrah. The port also was very good, however on the expensive side. The property: In the summer Ironstone host concerts, which is pretty cool, when you can drink wine and enjoy live concerts. They also have their very own museum, featuring the world's largest Gold Crystalline Specimen in the world. The museum also hosts some petrified trees and animals as well as historical mining memorabilia. read more

She set the tone for a leisurely wine tasting and lunch overlooking the beautiful grounds ablaze with colorful flowers lining pathways and patios. We cherished her relaxed and friendly service - no Napa snootiness here. The Sierra foothills wines are a different style than Napa and Paso Robles. We bought a case of the affordable reserve cab for everyday drinking. Thank you Ironstone for being one of the highlights of our trip to the Gold country. This is a destination winery. Even if you don't drink, you must see the beautiful landscaped grounds and stunning lodge type tasting room. Lot's of little goodies to look at and purchase. Great prices $10 - 5 pours. Bar was packed. Next time I'm in Murphy, I shall give their wines a try. Do take a minute to "really take in" the lodge type tasting room. It's mesmerizing. The property is vast and encompasses a tasting room, a museum and Amphitheatre that hosts open air concerts. The grounds are meticulously kept and the main tasting building is as impressive. We were extremely disappointed by our visit to Ironstone Vineyards. While the setting was nice and all the other hosts were pleasant, we had to deal- for the duration of the wine tasting- with a very rude lady (a short lady in her sixties with long dark/gray hair). She spoke to us in a very irrespecutful manner. The blond lady next to her, seems to be embarrassed by the behavior of her colleague. While, we did not want to pay attention to such a condescend attitude at first, it became clear that it was not just a moment... She continues to undermine us to a point where I had to leave the premises. I have done countless wine tasting in most french areas as well as in the US and never witnessed such a behavior. Despite her attitude, my family left with 3 bottles.. When shopping in the local market, some of the bottles purchased at the winery were 50% cheaper at the market such as the Obsession white wine. Our experience might have been more pleasant should we had our wine tasting with one of the other hosts. Needless to say that we won't renew our visits there and won't encourage anyone to do so. I decided some wine tasting needed to happen after visiting the Moaning Caverns and doing some hiking. Ironstone got great reviews so I gave it a go and was not disappointed! Arriving on a Monday around 3:30, I figured they must be doing something right since there were more than a few cars in the parking lot. The property is gorgeous with potted and planted flowers everywhere. The tasting room is quite large and I was greeting immediately by a very welcoming woman (unfortunately I didnt get her name). The tasting for 5 wines was $5, waved if you buy a bottle. I tried their reds and really liked the Old Vine Zinfandel which had a jammie appeal I go for. I decided to buy a bottle for $14. They have a little deli with a nice selection of salads, soups and sandwiches to choose from. I went with the steak sandwich and a side spinach with caesar dressing. I sat out on the patio and soaked up the nice views and sunshine. The food was really good, especially the caesar dressing (oh my)!! I really enjoyed this winery and was a nice ending to an active day. I highly recommend!! read more

This is an updated review to now include two visits that I have made to the bistro at Ironstone. They have a chef now and there is incredible food coming from the kitchen. Reservations are required but there is a good amount of outdoor, COVID-correct seating. The menu is short (which is a good thing!) and very appropriate. On one occasion, we had lunch here. I made an exception to my vegetarian choices as I wanted to try everything at the table. The fish tacos were great. The burger, incredible. Pizza, outstanding. I forget what else was ordered by my party of 5 on this occasion, but it was all great. The next dining occasion was for brunch and with bottomless mimosas. Turns out, they have bellinis, too! And you can mix and match off of the drink menu throughout your visit. The brunch menu (additional to the usual lunch menu) has some unique offerings. I had what I would call a quiche, but I'm pretty sure it had a different name on the menu. One of my party had the omelet. It was all great. So this place is still a phenomenal winery, too. In the two visits mentioned above, I left with a combined three cases of wine. So don't just come from the food. Make sure you try the wine, too. read more

This is a beautiful vineyard in the heart of Murphys! On my trip I went to three wine tasting vineyards and I have to say this is one of the best wine tastings I've had. Can't it beat for $10. The tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle. Be sure to make a reservation. I came here on a Sunday hoping to do a tasting but was turned away because they didn't have anymore reservations available. I had to come back the same week for their wine tasting since the place was so nice! I got to try 5 wines in the wine tasting, plus 3 bonus rounds of their more fruity wine. The gentleman who was serving us the wine was nice and friendly. The tasting is an indoor, standup only tasting. I wish we could be seated, though. Overall a great place to try wines and enjoy the sights. My friends and I bought 1-2 bottles of wine each. read more
