The fruit was tasteless, grapes were discolored as well as the pineapple. I called the establishment to inform them of the quality I received . The individual i spoke with offered no resolution or willingness to help. Instead, he seemed bothered by having to speak to me at all. I was very disappointed with the customer service experience at this establishment. I was not treated respectfully and no attempt was made to resolve the issue professionally. I will no longer use this establishment.

They are 2 days late. Dutch Meadows refuses to refund me or send another package. I don't feel comfortable eating them since they could have gone bad. This is UNACCEPTABLE! Forcing a customer to eat eggs that have gone bad and risk getting food poisoning is BEYOND incomprehensible. In addition, they threatened to lock my account bc Janice says I was cussing at her. That is a lie. Stay away from this "FARM".

It's…read moreconvenient to where I live, which helps, but it's also seems to be the most affordable CSA in the neighborhood (~$23 week for a veggie share). This CSA partners with Windflower Farm. They are a small, organic farm in upstate NY and offer veggie, fruit, flower, and egg shares plus lots of yummy add ons from Lewis Waite Farms. The season runs for 22 weeks, from mid-June to early November. You pick up your share on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings at the Garden of Union in Park Slope, which is right of the R train. If you can't make it one week you can rest easy knowing the extras have been donated to a soup kitchen. I've been a member for four seasons and have loved the wide selection of veggies. There's always a solid selection of greens, amazing tomatoes in the late summer, and delicious sweet corn. Our farmer also sends potted herbs in the beginning of the season, which is awesome! We've had a full share in the past, but find that it is a lot of veggies for two people so are trying a half share this year. We've also had fruit and flower shares which have been great too! But my favorite is the egg share. You just can't beat farm fresh eggs! If you live in Park Slope or nearby neighborhoods, I highly recommend joining the Park Slope CSA!

Plus, I was bored with my current healthy options. Enter Farmer Ted and the Park Slope CSA. I know there are several great CSAs in Brooklyn; I chose Park Slope CSA because of the incredibly convenient pick-up locations right of the R Train on Union Street (by Dinosaur BBQ but don't be tempted), the price (about $23 a week), and the flexibility (you have 3 hours to pick up your order on Tuesday or Thursdays or arrange for a friend/roommate to get it). I couldn't be happier with my decision. Last year I made about 90% of all my meals with food from the CSA and was delighted to fill my bag with varied veggies (broccoli, lettuce, tomatoes, butternut squash, cabbage, carrots...) and a bag of fruit ( apples, peaches, plums). There is a list of the CSA website for you to take a look. Yummmm.... so excited! I'm a bad cook but even I have been able to make new, flavorful, fun dishes with my snazzy produce, and I can't wait to try more. It's actually a grocery ordering service and this is their Brooklyn hub. How cool? No more wilted produce...no more being disappointed....let's hope. The lady who was working at the time was super eager and welcoming. She explained how everything worked and gave me a card to sign up. She said it's very simple. I went on the website and they have all types of locally produced goods. They also have a selection of meats as well. They even have coffee. You can set up delivery or schedule to pick up service. It's like a book of the month club for organic goods. I'm excited. Hopefully, the delivered results get them the missing star. *crossing my fingers*

I was so excited to try a local option and was hoping for quality produce right here in Bed-Stuy. To my chagrin, the produce was truly subpar. Maybe I got them on a bad week (4/29 was when I got my small basket) but still the experience is enough to make me cancel right away. For $25 (the small basket) we got a small mixed salad container, a few potatoes, a few beat-up carrots, a few root vegetables, and a stick of knotweed that I have no clue what to do with. The fruit package ($15) got us exactly 4 apples and one of them was so beat up it went immediately in the trash, 5 teensy lemons, and one grapefruit. I am far from cheap and would be happy to pay for quality organic local produce but honestly this is a rip-off. $15 for 4 apples, 5 lemons, and a grapefruit?! And horrible apples at that! This is absurd! I know there are other CSA options - and I hope they are better because this experience was truly disappointing. Oh, and we ordered the $6 eggs which didn't arrive and we were told we won't be charged but we were indeed charged for them.

Every time I try buying my produce elsewhere, I am consistently disappointed. The quality and freshness of the produce here is incomparable. When I buy from here, the stuff lasts in my fridge (stored correctly) for a good two weeks (sometimes longer) without any noticeable decrease in quality. For me, that alone justifies the slightly higher prices. The staff are friendly and helpful and are always happy to cut a piece of watermelon or cut up a heavy squash in the back of the store - you just have to ask.

In the spring the share is always a little light because not as many crops are in season (usually a lot of greens at first!), but by late summer I can hardly carry everything home. I cook a lot, so my husband and I don't have any problem using our whole share, but the CSA does offer an every-other-week share option as well. Some of my favorite CSA items: Corn (there is so much of it in late summer), tomatoes, eggplants and unusual cooking greens (when in doubt, I just sauté them!). Picking up the share is always fast and easy, and there are two days to choose from (Tuesday and Thursday). The location is only 1/2 block from the Union stop on the R line, so sometimes my husband picks up the share on his way home from work.

Well they have both here by the pound and VERY fresh and wife said they were a good price at about $6 or $7 per pound. It was the fresh Beefsteak style tomatoes that drew me in for $1 or $2. They were so plump, fresh and bright red, I couldn't resist. Checkout person was as nice as could be and now wife wants to make a return visit because produce in our regular stores is rising with inflation. Give them a try!
