No rush no fuss. It was only 3 in the afternoon A few tables music at a listening level The waitstaff were very accommodating and attentive polite and friendly. Looking around it looked over staffed but as the 2:30 started to be a 4:00 o'clock lunch the busier it started to get. Still no pressure. Ordered the white bean soup. It was delicious not over powering light broth with just the right amount of veggies The wine from Sicily was just the right paring with the main course which was the veal chop. No sides and took 1/2 home. The profiteroles were fresh and delicious The room is gorgeous and well maintained. It's great for before theatre for a quick bite or after for a full dinner. It was a great experience for me. Hope your able to make it there

Came here based on a strong Yelp score and proximity to my hotel…read more First thing I noticed upon getting to the hostess stand was the B rating, which was not displayed on the exterior window but more hidden inside (pretty sketch). However, looked up the score and apparently they aced their May inspection after being subpar for about 18 months. Decided to give the place a shot and hope for the best. I have to say I am glad we did! The decor / vibe was pretty good, and so was the food. I thought my cacio e pepe was cooked perfectly and had a nice flavor, although my plate had enough oil in it to power a small data center. The starting bread was just okay, but the scallops were also solid. The lobster roll app was also good, but that's more due to the buttered Texas toast. I think the highlight was the Tiramisu dessert. Pricing was confusing, as my pasta dish and the scallops were fine - but all of their fish dishes were insanely priced and the $32 for 2 one bit lobster rolls was silly. The tiramisu at $24 (roughly) seemed like alot but it was plenty for 2 and really was excellent, and I say that as a guy who doesn't normally like it. Service was okay - it just wasn't prompt or intentional but it wasn't bad either. Overall I would return but in a city like NYC where there are tons of great Italian options (yes, I get it, we are talking midtown here), I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it, unless you're in the area

The staff was over the top with professionalism and enthusiasm. The bar area was crowded before the show but the drinks were excellent and the bartender was a pro. Now on to the show: wow what a great time! I won't give away any of the storyline but it was extremely funny and the songs were well written and performed. The set design was also well done and the Bigfoot costume was amazing!! It was able to portray the mythical creature in a way I never thought possible. Turns out Bigfoot is kind, loving, funny and sensitive. I love the big guy and was rooting for him the whole night. He dances and sings with such power! I highly enjoyed my evening and I hope to come back again with friends and family. Funniest musical I've seen since Book of Mormon!!

Some of my favorite theater experiences have been from their Encores series, including their gala productions where brilliant casts come together with about 1-2 weeks of rehearsal to perform Broadway concert style productions, complete with a full orchestra, staging, choreography and costumes. The shorter engagements allow actors to appear in shows that might fit in between other long term contracts, with tv, film, or concerts. Some Encores I've seen: La Cage aux Folles, Urinetown, Light in the Piazza, Oliver!, Into the Woods, Parade, Sunday in the Park, Evita, Brigadoon, Merrily We Roll Along, etc. Productions like Chicago, Into the Woods, Sunday in the Park, Parade, Once Upon a Mattress and Ragtime have had successful Broadway transfers from City Center. Their mission: To be an accessible and inclusive center for the arts, reflecting the energy of New York City. Encores was designed to preserve the legacy of American musical theater. Note that acoustics can be tricky depending on where you sit.

It's an elegant setting with great energy and a strong legacy in the arts. Unfortunately, the particular production I saw -- High Spirits -- was a real disappointment. I was surprised to see performers reading from scripts during the show. If that's the format, that's fine -- but then the ticket prices should reflect that. It's hard to justify paying Broadway-level prices for what felt like a staged reading rather than a fully polished production. I left feeling let down, especially given the venue's reputation and the cost of admission. While I still appreciate City Center as a space and its history, this experience made me hesitant about rushing back anytime soon. So so disappointed.

"Hello, Love!" This…read morewas my first perfect Broadway theater experience. And like many firsts, you cherish it. It's a well crafted drama that moves seamlessly from one story to the next. Seam...Less. So well acted. I only was familiar with Charlie Cox (Daredevil), and before the play started someone raved about Geneva Carr (Hand to God), so I was already jazzed. There's choreographed bits between acts. You might think them odd, but they were very much needed. This is a dialogue heavy character piece, with 4 chairs as your only visual distraction. Doug Hughes KNOWS the human mind, and knows that it needs a break, a palate cleanser if you will. It's a tight, balanced production that envelopes you. Well, the people in the first row... almost literally. Nice seats if you can get 'em. "3 stories. 21 characters. 4 actors." Not once did I get a character confused. The accents are spot on. Morgan Spector's flat Midwestern twang was my favorite. There was no way to confuse the characters despite the fact that there's no costume changes and a single prop, outside of the chairs. Cox and Spector age before your eyes. Cox's character being the most absolutely heart wrenching. Heather Lind provides the majority of the comic relief. I'm a little intimidated by unemployed English lawyers now. She had swagger out the ears. Though it's a balanced ensemble piece, I think Carr was the engine. Her characters brought all the angst and propelled everything forward. It was perfection. I can't find a single flaw. The length was perfect. No intermission to mess up the flow. The sound made a couple of people jump at the beginning of the choreographed bits, but I've been in louder plays that almost gave me a heart attack between every damn act like I didn't know it was coming. But I was perfectly fine with this. Gosh, I loved this play. I want to see it again.

I can see you scratch you head until you tough your brain, Incognito is a very confused broadway show that tell us the story of a pathologist that steals the brain of the greatest Albert Einstein; a neuropsychologist embarks on her first romance with another woman; a seizure patient forgets everything but how much he loves his girlfriend. Incognito braids all these mysterious stories into one, breathtaking whole that asks whether memory and identity are nothing but illusions. I will not go into much detail of this work, I can only say that very confusing and you should pay close attention from beginning to end. Thanks Ruggy, both staff Incognito and Performing Arts for this great show.

If you've not been, it's definitely interesting, though your interpretation of art will likely determine just how much time you spend here. Speaking of the gift shop, there's an amazing number of things to see there, at a variety of price points, so if you're looking for a souvenir to bring back home or a gift for an upcoming event/occasion, there is a little something for everyone here. In terms of the art, again, variety is the spice of life, but it may be best to come up with a plan of attack first. The galleries themselves can be a bit labyrinthy (I know it's not a word, but it really fits here) and it's easy to miss things. Recommend going up to the top floor and working your way down, too.
