Gott & his crew took down a very large tree (about 3 ft. diameter) that fell during a windstorm and hung up in surrounding trees. Honest, down-to-earth guys, careful workers. One had to climb to dizzying heights in the tree b/c it wasn't reachable by bucket truck. They clearly knew their stuff--quickly puzzled out a smart way to take it piece-by-piece w/out damaging other trees or my roof! Impressive--and very fair pricing. read more

Nice guy so he gets a 2 vice a 1. Advice to anyone using Gott Tree Service, get the scope of the job in writing and do not pay him until the job is completed! I got 3 quotes on the work and selected Tom. All quotes were for a total of 6 trees, 4 in the front yard to be dropped and hauled off, 2 in the back yard just to be dropped. Heading into a holiday weekend he and his crew had completed the front on Thursday so I paid him that day so he could deposit the check and pay his crew before the long weekend. He came back the next morning, dropped one tree and left without a word (and I was home, we had discussed the last 2 trees when he and his crew arrived). Numerous calls and text messages over the next several weeks just resulted in some being answered, lot of excuses and missed dates to come back and drop the last tree. The tree is still standing months later. Tom did not do the job we agreed to and I paid him to do. Again, get it in writing and don't pay until you are satisfied! read more

Due to a recent storm, a large Oak tree 3 feet from the rear of my house fell. It was still standing and supported as it was leaning on other trees. I called four local tree removal companies and all showed up in brand new pickups. To a man, they all told me how very difficult it was going to be to get this tree out, but even though it would be dangerous they thought they could do it for $1000.00 to $1300.00 high bid. Along comes Tom Gott, a slow talking, very nice man who has been doing tree removal for 35 years. He looks the tree over and says this should be no problem and says he will do it for $500.00. Three days later he arrived with a three-man crew, they all get out of their truck say very little to each other and in 1 hour and 15 minutes he left. Tom Gott and his crew took down 3 large trees VERY close to my house for $4300. They worked quickly and efficiently with no problems except that they left a very large stump in my front yard. Tom recommended a stump grinder who was a friend and also promised to return to take care of anything that was not right. The stump grinder said that the stump really needed to be cut down further before grinding to avoid a huge mess in my yard. I called Tom to request that the stump be cut down further. He agreed, but never showed up. After another week of waiting for the stump to be cut further, I called Tom again. He gave me a date and time, but never showed up. The stump grinder eventually cut the stump himself and left the stump on my front yard. I eventually had to pay someone else to remove the large stump that neither Tom or the stump guy would take care of. Sadly, I liked Tom but in this case he did not finish the job that I paid him for which would have me rate him higher. read more
