Packing, loading and unloading went well. We had to reschedule our moving date by two days due to a closing date change beyond our control. Unfortunately the general manager did not handle this well from an emotional standpoint. He was quite abrasive in dealing with us during this adverse situation. He ultimately got the reschedule done but did want to charge a 15% fee to do it. I never saw this in the signed contract but I agreed to pay half just to be done with it and him. I would only use this company again if I had a DIFFERENT contact than him. read more

We used Gouffon moving twice. First time it was a local move and it went well. Second time recent not a good experience. We had two items damaged in this move . A table leg was broken on our dining room table, they took the leg and glued it. My toolbox was damage beyond use. The driver stated they took "the scenic route" to get to our destination but we all know the roads in Tennessee are full of large pot holes. Gouffon will not stand behind and compensate for the damage. This same toolbox was moved with tools in it before and now Gouffon is saying it had too much weight in it. Funny thing we were not told to remove the tools prior to either move. I do not recommend using this company as they do NOT or will not replace or stand behind any damages that occur and their insurance is worthless. read more

We had a local move about 11 miles apart, single family home to single family home with furiture and outdoor grills no boxes. We were quoted a 26 ft box truck and 3 or 4 men. Five men and two 26 ft box trucks arrived on time! Our five men (John, Jared, Gill, Randy, and Benjamin) were outstanding. They worked together as a team each one willing to help each other anyway they can with noone dogging it and no quarreling. They had one full box truck and several items on the second (glad they didn't have to do two trips.) They started at 9:30 am and finished at 3 pm. They took apart the dinning room table and queen bed, then reassembled at the new home. They were very careful to protect the floors, walls (drywall) and stairwell rails to the basement. GUARD YOUR EXPENSIVE ITEMS! On October 5th, 2023, three male employees arrived to pack items from my home.Upon arrival they had a strong smell of marijuana on them. It was stifling. I almost called the office to report this, but decided to let it go as I was on a deadline. During the walk-through instructions were given regarding what to pack. I designated an area for expensive designer handbags at the top of my stairs that they would handle independently. However, a YSL handbag valued at $2450 went missing after the unpacking on October 6th. I specifically remember packing the purse in a black SAINT LAURENT dustbag and placed it where my other handbags were located. I observed extremely unprofessional behavior throughout the day. While showing them my exercise room and what was to be packed from there, one of the movers picked up two of my dumbbells as I was walking out of the room and began working out. I have NEVER had movers act in such a careless, unprofessional and childish manner. Also to note, without permission or consent, one of the men decided to light scented candles that were supposed to be packed away but are now missing. ACTUALLY lighting my candles in the basement! There were no labels or inventory stickers on any of the packed boxes, which left no means for scanning and verifying the move. Additionally, an inventory list was never attempted or completed. They "track" your belongings by counting boxes and scratching a number down with a sharpie on a piece of paper. This is certainly not how Atlas or Mayflower conducts moves and if I could do over..... I was also told that they would pack the truck on Friday and unload on Saturday. The lead mover told me he wanted to unload Friday so he could return home. I was moving from Knoxville to Nashville and this made my move go well into the night. Again, not customer focused....employee focused. I did try to resolve this matter with the general manager, Blake Gilbreth.He was unapologetic for anything that took place during my move and only defended his employees.He showed no sympathy or concern and my interactions with him from the very beginning were EXTREMELY unprofessional. In an email exchange with him he acted childish and threatening stating he would sue me for slander for writing a review on a PUBLIC FORUM. After speaking to an attorney and to law enforcement, I learned that he was trying to bully me. It is hard for me to believe this man has been in ANY sort of customer service position in his life. I also contacted Tom Gouffon and left a voicemail.He also has been unresponsive.I have exhausted every means there is to hopefully come to a fair resolution. A police report has been filed and I am filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Tennessee Attorney General's office. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY IF YOU EXPECT TO BE TREATED WITH KINDNESS AND PROFESSIONALISM. read more

We had a great moving experience with Gouffon. I have used several different movers in the past (and some were downright horrible), but Gouffon and all of the guys helping were fast, efficient, polite and took great care of our furniture. They will also give you a firm quote for the day and not just an "estimate" like other companies. An estimate will usually increase on the day of the move, but with Gouffon the firm price will not increase. I would definitely recommend using this company. Gouffon has been in business since the century turn. (I guess) They enjoy an excellent reputation so we decided to get a quote from them for our move from Crossville. Their quote was $1980.00 or so. What do we know, so we scheduled our move with them. Just to be on the safe side we decided to get a quote from Gordon's in Crossville. They also enjoy a fine reputation. Their quote was $980.00. We went with Gordon's. They were on time, courteous, helpful and nothing was broken. Their final charge was $880 for the move. No matter how you figure, they saved us a thousand bucks. read more

I have moved 7 times with a moving company , three times across the country and four times locally. I was unfortunate enough to try Gouffon for my last move in Knoxville. It cost over $2500 to move about 5 miles in Knoxville and the move was a disaster. The crew and the driver were at each other's throats for the whole move and they left as soon as the truck was unloaded.Suggest you keep looking for another mover. read more

My husband and I just moved to the area from out of state and needed help unloading all of our belongings off the moving truck into our new house. When I called to get a quote, Taylor was very helpful answering all of my questions and providing an estimated cost. Gouffon's prices were the best out of the 4 companies I got quotes from. Not having an hourly minimum was nice, especially because we didn't think our job would take too long. On the day, the crew showed up on time and were friendly and professional. The moved everything into our house quickly and safely and made sure to ask us where everything needed to go. The guys even moved some furniture around after we changed our minds and brought a few items in from the garage. I had an "easy" move - only moving from the third floor to the first of the same apartment building, but had a great experience with Gouffon Moving. I had called three different moving companies for quotes and they were all ridiculously expensive or already booked. Someone named Taylor was very nice and helpful over the phone and explained that there is a "service fee" (their service fee compared to other moving companies is a little high) but there is NO minimum required hours. Other moving companies have a two hour minimum. This was why I ultimately ended up choosing them. Gill and Shawn (could be misspelling) showed up on time and were fun great guys. They carefully handled everything and hooked up my washer and dryer with no problem. No complaints at all. One of the movers had put a part of my desk that came off in his pocket and forgot it. When I called him to ask about it, he immediately told me as soon as he was finished with his second job he would return it and he did. No complaints, would highly recommend them! read more

I may be the only person not impressed by Gouffon. My complaint is now a year and a half unaddressed. They talk a good game. Going to make it right, etc. Just a bunch of talk. I am just so tired of their words. My rug was ruined. Supposedly they were sending someone to repair it. Finally I called my own repair man and had the stain cut off and the carpet bound. I still have a ruined table pad for my dining room table but most of all, cracks down both sides of a large raku vessel that was made by an artist in Louisiana. The last time I spoke with Blake, he was going to call me the next day. Wrong. No word from him for several months. Luckily I have a email from him where he admits they wrong doing. I guess they're good if you don't have anything happen. If you do, good luck. I will never recommend Gouffon. read more

I hate giving two stars. We had a great experience with the crew that came to pack our house. Very personable and friendly. The issue came when a TV was busted during the move and discovered when they were unpacking the truck. We were not upset that the tv busted, accidents happen but the issue is with the fact the situation hasn't been rectified yet, over 3 weeks later despite multiple calls and emails from my husband. They person he is supposed to talk to is never there and doesn't return phone calls/emails. We will attempt to contact AGAIN today. read more

Now I have holes in my walls a hole in my front door and damage to the exterior of my home as well with no one willing to take responsibility or return phone calls. We've contacted the office several times, and they never seem to have an answer or respond to us in a timely fashion . We still have no idea what's going on. Local move within Knoxville, TN We just moved last week from an apartment to a house. The moving started late due to truck problems. (Seems to be a consistent problem for them) Moving team at my apartment had nothing to do, once they arrived in a personal car and prepped our furniture while waiting for truck. While I had communicated that we had a storage facility to be moved and the new home had a steep hill no one communicated this to the team. I had been assured someone would evaluate moving site, never happened until day of move. The failure to communicate accurate information to moving team delayed move significantly as it took about two hours to sort everything out and evaluate uphill driveway. This delay affected our timeline in completing our move. (We had moved approximately 2 miles from apartment) I would hesitate to recommend this company for being somewhat expensive and being marred by poor coordination between sales team and movers. Despite everything team was professional in the face of obstacles presented and strove to meet our needs. If not for delays and general confusion would have gotten a higher rating. read more

Please do yourself a favor and do not hire this company to move your belongings and valuables. We had items picked up, stored and moved out of town only to deal with very expensive items which were not properly wrapped and protected ending up with damages to items that cannot be repaired near its original condition. The claims process is engineered in such a manner to not allow for verbal dialogue and is one-sided without verbal communication. The most telling aspect of this process is the after the fact communications with the General Manager was unprofessional and rude at best. The normal course of operations at this company is to take no responsibility whatsoever and deny any wrong doing and remain as far from the truth as is possible hoping it disappears magically. They justify non response as emails going to junk mail without giving credit to the fact that the customer actually sent the emails and its the company's responsibility to respond and actually check email, including junk emails! What company admits to actually not checking junk emails? The settlement check sent, without our acceptance is less than 5% of what the actual damages. Simple care and attention could have prevented all of this and good customer service along with being genuinely nice would have gone a long way to resolving this matter. Instead we received a very aggressive, loud, bad language, accusatory and verbally insulting phone call ONLY AFTER A REVIEW WAS POSTED. Unfortunately good business morals and attentive service is dead with most businesses in our country today. Its certainly dead with this company! read more

I would use Gouffon for a local move in a heartbeat. They moved me twice locally and did an excellent job. When I moved out of state, they seemed more out of their element. Some of my belongings were damaged and their contract employees out of state were less than honest about the damage caused. I E-mailed Blake about the damage and never heard back. Outstanding! I recently made a short small move and their response was exceptional. Eddie, the person who called me, treated me like I was making a corporate move. When move day came not only were the two movers extremely professional (Donte? and Nathanial?) but they assembled my furniture even more securely than I originally had! I would not recommend these movers. We experienced a terrible move on the pick up that we had out of state. The loading took two times as long as they quoted and the driver was terrible. he marked ALL of our items as scratched, damaged or broken on the inventory sheet. When I refused to sign the list, he then rewrote everything as in perfect shape. It was stressful, not coordinated and they showed up very late on the second day. I was told that the mover was later fired for his incompetence. Collecting on a few damaged items was a nightmare from the people at the Knoxville office. they often did not return emails or phone calls and drew out the payment until we were so frustrated that we about gave up. Do yourself a favor and stay away from these folks, I wish that we had! read more

These guys were great. I moved from Chattanooga, TN to Boston, MA. They quoted me a price over the phone and that price stuck. Because I was a long distance move, the gentleman actually gave me his cell phone number incase of problems. The price was cheaper than what several national companies quoted. On moving day they carefully wrapped and moved my furniture. The movers were very friendly. If I ever need to move back to TN, I will definitely be calling them. read more
