After our "liquid lunch" at the nearby Sportsman's Public House, we drove over to Gouger Cellars just when the friendly and welcoming Owner unlocked the doors at Noon. Once inside, staff was clearly glad to see us and even provided blankets when we first chose to go outside around the covered fire pit area. As this was a rather cold and damp day, we soon retreated inside and found a nice table near the front. We skipped the wine tasting and went for full glasses to go with our food choices. They have beer too, but in a place like this, what's the point? We mostly went for the Pinot Noir selections, which I found went very well with what we ordered. That included: The "famous" Baked Brie appetizer. Let's say that the "hype" is real. Hot Turkey Spinach Artichoke Sandwich - Rich and delicious. Erin and I went for that and we gladly shared. Reuben. Jim's choice and I also went there. Mega Burger - Gayle's yummy choice. We lingered, we had great conversations, and staff was always there when we needed them. Came here last night for the first time with a date to meet a couple from church who highly recommended this place. Gary, the owner, took us on a little tour to see the flex tanks, which were extremely impressive. He explained some of the science and technology behind it, and he is extraordinarily knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. We had some tastings and I was delightfully surprised at some of the sparkling wines, like sparkling Pinot noir, and sparkling Syrah. Definitely worth coming here to try those. Very unique. We ate dinner and I had a wonderful salad that was so big I could not even finish it. Had turkey on it and go cheese and I'll kinds of other yummy things. At the recommendation of Gary, my date and I had the baked brie. I'm not able to eat gluten right now, so he ate all the pastry parts, but the Brie had delicious apple chunks and it was just gooey and yummy. I know there are a lot of wineries in this area, but you will definitely want to come here. It's a beautiful location and we were fortunate to run up to the top of the roof, where there is seating, to see the sunset last night. It was magical. Get a tasting, and get the sparkling rose. Great place with a nice atmosphere. We had been out hiking and were heading home when we decided to stop at a winery. We passed this one on our way to the trails so we stopped. It was amazing the crab dip and baked Brie on puff pastry was delicious. We did a tasting which is 5 different wines. I went all red because those are my favorites. They make a great sparkling syrah. I bought a bottle which comes with a resealable cap made only at this place. The owner is real nice as well. I definitely recommend this place and will be back. read more

I use to come here for Friday night date night. I will never spend a dime at this establishment again. They have turned snobby rude and only cater to their following. They allow no kids, young teens or young adults under 21 all "their" choice. My choice and suggestion go and spend your money where you are welcome. Gougér Cellars puts the accent on the E with an emphasis on easygoing wines and good times. Gary Gougér is the founder and namesake of the winery. His spirit fills each experience at Gougér Cellars from wine tastings to full meals. Of course, you don't have to gab with Gary if you just want to relax, but why not, he loves to share his love of wines ... and especially Gougér Cellars wines. We did the $10 wine tasting to start and it was hard to pick from the different award winners. A 2017 Chardonnay was the only Gougér wine that uses local Ridgefield grapes. The others use grapes that hail from other regions like Washington's Yakima Valley and Northern California. The balanced 2014 Malbec was my favorite, but the smoky 2011 Petite Sireh was very distinctive and a close second. A third recommendation is the bold 2014 Syrah which is a "Double Gold" award winner. Even though Gary and the guy in the kitchen are cool, the chillest member of Gougér Cellars Winery is the friendly and sooooo relaxed pooch hanging out in the dining area. Like all wineries, Gougér has a wine club. It's free to join, but there is a $100 minimum purchase requirement. If you like Gougér Cellars wines, then it's a no-brainer to join ... and enjoy these wines regularly. Even if you aren't a club member, consider visiting Gougér Cellars on Friday nights for FREE PASTA HAPPY HOUR (with purchase of a glass or bottle of wine). I'd give 6 stars if I could! No, make that TEN stars out of five! We dined here last weekend with my wife and a good friend. My wife and our friend both participated in wine tasting. They were each served trays of the six wines that they selected. The wine was outstanding! I ordered the French Dip sandwich and it was one of the best French Dip sandwiches I have ever had! We also had the brie cheese tray, which was amazing! The brie was warm, covered in warm apples, cinnamon, honey, almonds & craisins baked in a skillet on a puff pastry. Damn! This is good stuff! My wife had the hummus plate and she really liked that as well! Our friend summed it up. She said "Boy, these people know how to make wine and they sure know how to cook!" Yes they do. We are going to make the trip there from Salem to eat lunch. Yes, it's a bit of a drive, but this place is definitely worth it. Oh yeah, next time I am going to have the Monte Cristo sandwich. The owner (who is a very nice guy by the way) told me that the Monte Cristo is one of the things that they are known for. I honestly CANNOT wait to come back here. On a wine tasting Sunday with the girls, my first impression was the pours were short and you had to buy 3 bottles to get the fee waived which is a bit much. BUT the wines were all really great and the tasting was supposed to include 5 but he kept pouring so we got to taste all 10. And he lit the fire table outside so it was all really great. Great pastrami sandwich! Outdoor seating by the grass with had 3 horses. Rooftop seating. Mainly red wines, some good. A different kind of Pinot than usual Oregon Pinot. Different kind of Chardonnay, no oak or butter but fruity and tasty. Rose sparking was not for me with hints of grapefruit and strawberry. We booked a private pre-wedding party for our extended family, but had a communication snafu. When we walked in mid-day to confirm and decorate, Gary said he hadn't heard from us so hadn't prepared. After looking at our disappointed faces, he made a few quick phone calls, rustled up the staff and increased the food order, and presented a lovely spread on time for our guests. We are so grateful to him and the whole staff for making it all work on short notice!! The food was delicious, and we came away with some lovely wine to enjoy at home. Stopped by for lunch and a wine tasting and they never disappoint. The wine is absolutely amazing, especially "Chapter III". If you like Reuben sandwiches they make the absolute best. Another stop on the Clark County Winery tour, no more. They hype the Reuben as their leading menu item but that is mediocre at best. If I were to go again I would avoid the food altogether. The place has great potential including seating outside looking into the green countryside. Even when it is cold outside, the friendly staff will light up the heaters and bring out a throw. But the inside looks like a run-of-the-mill restaurant rather than a wine tasting room. read more

I fell upon this place when I first moved to Washington state. What a beautiful winery they have here. Gary and his beautiful wife to be are a pleasure to be around. The atmosphere has a good vibe, great music, outdoor seating with beautiful views, and dolce and Rocky the dogs are a plus if you are dog people . The wine is some of the best I've had. The food they offer is is amazing. The capris chicken pizza is one of the best pizzas I've had, Gary puts a lot of love into this. Wow! This is the first place where I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the red wines. My husband and I first bought a groupon and went to this downtown Vancouver location. I typically just do a tasting and go on my way, noting what I like. But we just had to have something to bring home, and bought the mine mine mine, a very decadent dessert wine and couldn't decide between chocolate or regular, so we bought both! This is THE BEST wine we have ever tasted. Every wine we have tasted since does not compare with Gouger Winery. We love their wines so much, that we have since become Wine Club Members. Now they are offering food, and zinfandel ice cream and chocolate, AMAZING. We tried the baked brie with apples, almonds, and roasted garlic, so delicious, and definitely recommend it. I can't wait until this summer when we can enjoy the roof top seating with views of St. Helens. read more

I was at the Gouger Cellars winery on a wine tour that was sponsored by Ilani Casino. I didn't know we had great wines in our backyard!!! The wines we tasted were superb. The winemaker was amazing. It's not that far from Portland, approx 39 miles or less. Their facilities were very clean and had a great outdoor space to enjoy your wine! We tasted the ice cream that is made there onsite and it's to die for! They have food for purchase at a reasonable price. I want to come back and taste their Brie. We enjoyed the roof top seating, my husband had the Malbec I had the zinfandel chocolate chip ice cream. It wasn't the best customer service ever, but it was ok. At most wine tastings we've done the customer service has been much more personal. parked my car today 4/21 at 11:40 when a gentleman ( assuming he was a manager ) did not even come out to let me know that they did not allow dogs on the property. He yelled from the door. What this gentleman did not know was that the dog I had was a service animal ( dog ) in training. I will never come here again. Knowing that they don't appreciate dogs. The Friday night pasta meal is probably he best thing going in this area. Buy a glass of wine and get a dish of pasta. Buy a bottle and get 2 dishes. Add a tasty salad for $5.00. But I must say, Gary's New York Cheesecake is THE best I've had, anywhere. The Oreo/Graham Cracker Crust is amazing and you get your choice of chocolate or caramel sauce...well, words cannot capture it. If Cheesecake isn't your thing, then his Bread Pudding is amazing. My husband knows i like wine. For our 28 anniversary he purchased a wine that we have had before at Gougers. It's a chocolate wine. My husband asked for this wine, the Person helping him was short with him, making him feel bad that he was asking for a "chocolate wine". Maybe she didn't know sometimes they carry this. LOVE these wines! The wine is so good but that is not all.... Weather permitting the outside seating is breathtaking coupled with wine ice cream and great food (I recommend the baked Brie). Dolce, the winery pooch, is probably the sweetest fur baby who won't mind a few pets if your hand is available. The Malbec is stunning and I just picked up Chapter One, Petit Syrah - probably my two favorites right now. Try the sparkling Syrah or Muscat (whichever your tastes prefer) and you will be in for a pleasant surprise of effervescent joy! My husband and daughter stopped here before going to a friends bday party as we were very early. I am so glad we stopped. The owners were delightful, friendly and engaging. The wine was so very good. I chose 3 favorites out of 5! The resident pups were clean, well behaved and very cute. Other customers were very friendly. The whole facility was beautiful. I would have loved to spend more time there. We are from the Portland area but will definitely be going back when we can spend a couple of hours there. See you soon! read more
