Simpson's sticks to its guns as a standard and honest florist. The place you can go and get a decent bunch of flowers, a wreath or a boquet, wthout all the hassle and high prices of a floral design shop! They are relatively cheap in terms of pricing and they are extremely helpful inside. Tell them the person, the age and the occasion and they will offer you a range of budgets using whatever flowers that they have in stock. They'll wrap them, stick a note on them, and then you're sorted. Failing that, there are plenty of nice gardens in the area if you have a decent pair of pruners, go the chip shop, wrap em in chippy paper.. Happy days :)

I must say I'm not a huge fan of shops like this as they seem to ram materialism down your throat and stick a whopping price tag on it whilst doing so. Nevertheless, retail therapy makes people happy. So if you're after a bit of jewellery, costume jewellery, a vase, a new watch or a shiny trinket then I guess Laurie's is the place for you. It's based just by the traffic lights at the cross road in Heswall, just opposite the old and empty Kwik Save building and the sun bed Studio!

If you want to buy jewellery, whether as a gift or for yourself, why, oh why, people, must you buy the same crap that everyone else wears? I believe in individuality and expressing your personality by what you wear. Find something unique. Wear it with pride. (Hop on the 85 bus from Heswall Station and visit Brimstage Hall where you can find all kinds of handmade jewellery and other art in the great little shops there!) However, if you like the boring, average, sterling silver, normal, heart pendant, blah chains, Peter Rabbit figurines, etc. believe it or not, I did not think Lauries was that expensive. Yeah, they are not Primark cheap, but compared with some jewellery stores things here were quite low. There were a lot of items in the £20-30 range.

Now you don't have to worry about your bouquet dripping all over you because these flowers are neatly packaged with no extra effort needed on your behalf. I've received praise and compliments from boyfriends' mothers, for example, when turning up with one of these boxes (and occasionally a bottle of wine to sweeten the deal), and it always softens the blow of meeting the parents for the first time - especially if the mother then scolds the boyfriend for never bringing her flowers! Yeah, that relationship didn't last very long.... Anyway, back to the flowers. As you can see from the pictures, not just flowers but small trees and bushes. And if you don't want to splash out on a flower box (around £15) you can opt for picking out a few singular stems and have them wrapped up all lovely like!

Lovely selection of flowers and low prices, and arrangements in store which were stunning. The business was recommended to me as a wedding florist by several of my friends, and they didn't disappoint, Pauline & Andrea were amazing throughout!! I booked a wedding consultation initially with Pauline for my wedding flowers and to share some ideas, she made me feel so relaxed and definately took the stress out of the process, offering fantastic and well informed expert advice. I never once felt pressured, sadly the same could not be said for some of the other florists with whom I had consulted with. After finally agreeing on my flowers and various things, I was kept in touch with throughout the process which certainly helped ease the nerves and worry. The 'big day' arrived and my flowers were presented to me at the hotel and as promised, the venue was fully dressed - I never once had any concerns, and the flowers just were simply stunning so much so it brought me to tears; the fact I had so many comments about them during the day confirmed that I had made the right decision in going to Bromborough Flowers. The biggest surprise (or maybe it wasnt given what I had been told by friends who have been here before), was simply the price... I had to ask Pauline to recheck a couple of times as it was massively cheaper than the other florists who quoted me in the area. Beautiful flowers, always fresh and put together brilliantly. An experienced florest who can put arrangements together to order, and whilst you're there. You can also get valuable advice from the people who really know how to care for plants and flowers. For those of you who buy flowers from supermarkets, it really is worth spending a few pennies more, the difference in quality is incredible. Also stocks a range of exotic flowers. They can usually deliver the same day if orders are received by 12noon.

However the bouquet I was handed looked a mess. A mish mash of all different colours, no coordination and the cheapest carnations etc in the shop. I am no flower expert but they didn't look great and I was ashamed to have to hand them over on behalf of colleagues who has put money into a collection. I wanted to support local business however I realise that on this occasion I would have been better off and had a better quality bunch of flowers from the supermarket. The bunch cost £20
