First off, this review is for their catering offerings, not the brick-and-mortar restaurant, which I have not been to. I had the pleasure of tasting Gourmet India at my cousin's wedding. It was an overwhelmingly positive experience. As a Desi, myself, my standards are high, so my default rating for any South Asian restaurant on this hemisphere is zero stars. Many places fall short of that, even. Yes, I'm harsh. Yet, Gourmet India's buffet food was fantastic, and compelled me to get up for a second helping. Nearly everyone raved about the food. I thought the appetizers were pretty good, though I generally don't like South Asian appetizers. Even the salad (which was deceptively spicy) was good. Other standard fare was exceptional. Examples include almost all of their chicken dishes. I especially enjoyed their chicken dopiaza and malai chicken. Their vegetable dishes were also excellent, such as the bhindi (okra), the malai kofta, and their daal makhani (lentils in butter-based sauce). I ate enough where I didn't save space for dessert. I actually have a picture of the gulab jamun, because all the other food I devoured too quickly to capture. Out of all of the different options in the food court at the mall this is the place that I usually hit up. For mall food court dining this is definitely pretty good tasting Indian food and I do enjoy it. They offer a combo meal that consists of two entrees and a choice of either basmati rice or nan bread and that is usually the combo meal that I go with. They have two other combos, one being served with 2 entrees, rice or nan and an appetizer and the last combo includes 3 entrees and either rice or nan which is a good one to pick if you're there and have a big appetite at the time. You may choose whichever entrees you wish for your combo but at least one of the entrees must be vegetarian. They have all of their entrees displayed behind a glass window at the counter so you can see exactly what they are offering. When I am there I usually get the Chicken Korma on my combo along with a vegetable curry and I always opt for the rice instead of the nan bread. The meal is always delicious and I always get a very fair amount of food for the price I paid. The last time I was there I saved some room for dessert and I went ahead and tried their rice pudding which was delicious as well. These guys came to the common cafeteria where I work in Waltham today; off of Winter Street. A fan of Indian food since 1988, I can honestly say these guys are frauds and rip off artists. What I got: a half cup of stale/hardened basmati rice, 3 cubes of chicken tikka Masala and two fatty/grizzly pieces of chicken curry, topped off with a piece of cold wet and soggy naan. Price $12.00. What an absolute friggin rip off for some shitty/mediocre food from the food court at your local mall. Cheap bastards. Excellent food in a food court! The staff can some times be rude or have you waiting but most of the time they are friendly and quick. The food is always hot and delicious! My favorites are chicken korma and a North Indian dumpling sauce ( that's no the real name I just can't remember but it is a yellow yogurt based sauce with onion dumplings.) or a chicken Kathy roll. Which is chicken curry and veggies wrapped up in a naan. I normally get naan which is always baked to order. They have a few different naan. Garlic naan is my favorite of them all. The portions look small but truly is plenty to fill one person. They also have a variety of both vegetarian and meat options along with teas and lassie. I enjoy this place very much. If I'm in the mood for something warm and I'm at the mall, this is where I go. Gourmet India is a diamond in the rough, right in the middle of burlington mall's food court (one of the best mall food courts anywhere!). The value is incredible, and the food is really good. We came during a Saturday for lunch and lucky us they have a more authentic special menu for weekends only. There were tons and tons of Indian customers going here on Saturday. We opted for the Tikki chaat which was fried potato patties topped with all sorts of great toppings (just say yes to everything). At only $6.95 this was enough for a meal and it was a great dish. We also shared a 2 entree combo for $7.95. This came with a large freshly baked naan. You can see the guy making the naan behind the counter! The Palak Paneer was good and the chicken korma very good, with fall apart tender chicken. The real gems are definitely the chaat and weekend specials, try at least one! We'll definitely be back, weekend or otherwise to try more of the great food here. At under 20$ for a meal for 2, it's a real steal. read more

Despite being in the middle of a mall food court, this is probably one of the most authentic Indian restaurants in the area according to my Indian friends. The food is always fresh, they have the best selections and you get a lot of food for your dollar. The staff here is friendly and I dont mind schlepping into the mall to grab this food on the way home. One of the worst experiences I ever had a we go for our wedding tasting. We reached out to the owner months prior and still no Response. Once we do have a menu that we provided them they come sayin we also have another offer in hand so whoever gives the deposit first. We go the the tasting expecting the person we are talking to would be present instead the father who had no communication with us prior was there. Rudely sits at the same table as the bride groom and parents and stares at us while we taste. Come back to us asking why something we tried was not on the menu and we say I don know I gave you what I wanted and the items we want to try. Instead of understanding and giving he then starts being rude to us and says "did you want to try the pickle to"? Who the hell are you to say that to me when I'm giving you the business. Instead of being nice and catering the old men was rude and started arguing saying we have business for 26 years. That's why you only have one Restuarnat out of the 7 you owed right..... we walked out there and mind you the tasting was in a food court of the mall while they had a nice indoor restaurant they used to own. We didn't get the service we should have or the respect. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. If you want to be disrespected then gladly go but otherwise we had plenty of other places that have us try 20 items rather then be cheap and make one entree only. I ate here a number of times and loved it and was very excited about it. But I've since then had a couple of bad experinces that make me not want to eat here anymore. First was one time when I ordered food and I asked for it to stay. The guy poured the food into the container. I realized that I might spill it while trying to navigate through the pre-christmas crowds to find a table. So I asked for a lid so it wouldn't spill. Instead of giving me a lid the guy dumped some of the food out. I was too shocked to say anything. But I was pissed And other time I found a hair in my food that was def not mine. ew read more

Amazing food. Very disrespectful and rude employees. A suggestion is not welcomed at this restaurant, it is frowned upon and the employees back answer instead of just agreeing, even if it means to keep the cliental happy. Never had a bad experience here, but today, the employee serving food was not interested in customer service and mentioned "that's not we are here for." Shame, I love the food here, but will not be returning after the ill treatment. This happened while the other employees stood by letting the customer get disrespected. Beyond expectations for a food court restaurant. I didn't really like indian food when I first tried it several years ago, but I have gradually developed a taste for it, especially after eating here. The Chicken Tiki Masala is excellent with basmati rice. You can tell the chicken has been stewed for a long time because it is so tender. The sauce has the perfect blend of spices, not too creamy either, but can be a little oily sometimes. Also try the onion bhaji - fried onion balls - and remember to ask for the sauce that goes with it. It's not just food court food: I've even gotten take-out dinner here because its that good. I'm absolutely addicted to their chicken korma. This is not mall food court food, this is family owned Indian food that happens to be in a mall. Get the korma with rice and have them simply pour the korma over the rice.
