He also took the time to fix a shower door when he was over, clean out the downspouts on the gutters, nail down some lose shingles on the roof, and generally just take care of some odds and ends. I requested several quotes for the first job I needed to have done, and Jeff was the first one to call me back and who quoted me the job right away. When he came to the house (right on time) to do the job that I had hired him for (carpentry work), I told him about other issues that I also needed to take care of in the house (some plumbing work, tiles that needed to be replaced, kitchen cabinets that needed to be installed, a bathroom that needed to be updated, electrical outlets that needed to be changed). He included actual photos of his prior work, responded to my calls/texts immediately, and arrived on time or early as promised. A prior contractor absolutely butchered the tile in my shower surround. He was great at general carpentry but I almost ended up in divorce court over the shower. Jeff came in and appraised the job, quoted a fair price, and set starting and ending dates. When he got here he immediately got to work demolishing the old work. He gave us a briefing every day before work and at the end of each day. He is fast, accurate, and above all CLEAN. He made sure that we were not walking on bits of old tile, drywall, or miscellaneous garbage. We had a certain accent tile selected from the original job but Jeff gave us a humble opinion about changing the tile. This actually worked so much better, fitting in with the room a lot more. The job took just under a week and we are very happy with the results. I would totally recommend him to anyone. He also told us that he does general carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. When I win the lottery I will hire him to re-do our badly outdated kitchen.

I noticed a post on Nextdoor asking for handyman recommendations. There were a bunch of replies,…read morebut only 5 that seemed to match my criteria. I did research online for those 5. There was only 1 that had what I was looking for in a handyman company. Included in my list of requirements was BBB registration, insurance to protect customers and very positive reviews on all the main sites (Angi, Yelp, Google, etc.). It was also important that the 'company' be more than one person and have experience in the projects that I was interested in doing. Only one of those companies checked all the boxes: Welter Home Services. I called them and spoke with Kevin about our current and future needs. We had 3 projects. I wanted to do one to be sure I was pleased with their work (I was) before starting the other two. Kevin explained what labor and materials we needed to complete the job. He provided a detailed estimate with all materials and labor stated. Our first project was the replacement of a kitchen pantry door - including the whole door frame, hardware and trim. This required removing the old door, frame and trim - and painting the new door, frame and trim. On the agreed upon date, a Welter HS employee showed up at our door exactly on time. He was very pleasant and helpful. He completed the project, checked his work and made some touchups where the appearance as not "perfect", then did a great job of cleaning up the area he had worked in. We are very pleased with Welter HS and the work they completed for us: on time and for the price they quoted. We are moving forward with the next two projects and are looking forward to getting them completed with the same quality and professionalism that they applied to this first project.
