I…read morealso have a friend who has had positive experiences with Old York so I didn't hesitate to call them when my 1st floor unit AC wasn't working. They were prompt in scheduling an appt. and actually called the day before because the technician was "right around the corner" so he came a day earlier. Apparently the emergency "off" switch was accidentally turned off when my husband changed the filter. He noticed it immediately but charged me $150 for the visit. I understand a minimum trip charge but he was literally less than 1/2 mile away so he wasn't going out of his way to come to my house. When I called Old York to explain that I thought the charge was excessive considering all he had to do was flip a switch, I was told someone would call me back in a couple of days. Of course no one did and when I followed up a week later I was told that the technician also checked the electrical connections and the pressure and that is how they justified that charge. He was here no more than 10 minutes but spent 1/2 hr sitting in my driveway afterwards. I guess that is how they justify the time spent on the job even if they aren't doing anything. You would think they might offer a partial credit towards a future service just to keep a customer. I will not be using their services in the future nor will I recommend them.

After ordering parts and coming back out to finish the work, Kevin was nice enough to recommend maintenance tips and explain each step so I wasn't just sure that it was being fixed, rather learned what's needed and happens for future troubleshooting purposes Professional, knowledgeable, helpful and went beyond what's needed to get the job done. Thanks so much, highly recommended.

Review for Roto-Rooter Rating: I have mixed feelings about my recent experience with Roto-Rooter. On one hand, their technicians are excellent. This was my second time in less than a year having the same sink snaked, and just like the first time, the plumber was professional, timely, neat, and successfully unclogged the drain. If you are in an emergency and need someone reliable who will get the job done right, they are definitely the way to go. However, I find it increasingly difficult to justify using them as a "go-to" service due to the lack of incentive for loyal customers. Paying full price for the same recurring issue within a single year feels steep. While the plumber did offer a $100 discount this time, that is a standard coupon amount I likely could have found elsewhere. What is more frustrating is that I've gone above and beyond to prevent this: * I purchased their proprietary maintenance cleaner (at 3x the price of standard retail cleaners) and used it exactly as instructed. * As a two-family household, we are extremely cognizant of what goes down our drains. * We previously used them for a major sewer line repair--a nearly five-figure job--less than five years ago. I would expect that level of history and investment to place us in a "high-value client" bracket with better pricing protection. The reality is that if it isn't an emergency, there are much more affordable options available for a standard drain snaking. Summary: Great quality and highly reliable, but the pricing model doesn't seem to value repeat customers or long-term loyalty. -- Jason

I told him "no" and he offered a $100 discount with a 6 month warranty. I told him to leave. The whole thing was a waste of time for a company that insisted they can't give a quote over the phone - but when they arrive, they don't even look at the sink and just give a verbal quote. Pretty sure you could have done that over the phone and avoided wasting everyone's time.

Called 4 local guys and Bruce from AMONTE Plumbing was quick to be the first to return my call. Within a half hour, he was at my house. What a professional. Super nice guy that didn't mind me lurking over his shoulder the entire time he worked. I like to learn and he was happy to give me an education as he worked through the repair process. With plenty of 'quicker-fix' plumbing solutions available these days, Bruce prefers to work the old fashion way, which to me is exactly what you want to have with plumbing behind walls and in ceilings. He did the repair work quickly, cleanly and even gave me some great tips on how to get the best results when I patch the hole I cut out of my ceiling. He also gave me some good leads on fixing/repaving my driveway when I told him I was tackling that next. Just an all-around great guy and plumber. I would recommend Bruce to anyone and if I ever need more work done, I'm not calling anyone else but him. Oh, and the price I felt was extremely fair and reasonable! Thanks Bruce - great job!
