I found two great Foxcroft button down shirts, perfect for work, on sale for $37! The owner was very friendly and we got to talking about where I was visiting from, West Hartford, and she happened to have grown up there. She also shared a lot about the cute new spring items she had just ordered from her recent purchasing trip to New York. I was spending a few days staying with some friends in Middletown last week and had some time to…read morekill on Saturday. What's the best thing to do when that happens? Obviously it's to check out some antique centers and the first one we checked out was Forest City Merchants. This antique centre is located inside of what looks like an old factory building and has a pretty decent amount of space. The floor itself is separated by some small walls and there's a few separate rooms throughout the building. I spent maybe twenty minutes or so wandering around without finding anything, but hey, you could go to the same antique center once a week for a year and hit the absolute biggest jackpot one week and then strike out 49 weeks in a row, so that's just what happened on this day. I did see some cool action figures and such, and luckily it didn't appear that any of the booths here had Temu garbage. Overall, Forest City Merchants was a solid antique center to walk through and certainly a place to check out if you are in the area. I'll definitely be back in the future since I'll be staying in Middletown again.

I stopped in again the following week and still did not see them so I assumed they were sold. I never got paid for these 2 items after 4 months sooooo? I brought in 2 dresses that had matching bolero style jackets. Again I stopped in to see how they were priced. Both dresses were on the rack for sale missing the bolero jackets. I questioned the salesperson on duty telling her that these were my consigned items and the jackets were missing. Response was "oh they sometimes get misplaced.". She did locate one of the jackets and promised to look for the other. I returned several weeks later the jacket was still not found. So my experience was horrible. Today I encountered some confusion with staff about Consignment pieces. The items were listed as active, but difficult to find or missing. The store appears a bit disheveled and a musty odor was noted by myself and another shopper. While helping to search for my own Consignment pieces I found a number of empty jewelry packages and mistreated items. Possibly this due to a pending change in ownership. A worker, possibly current owner, approached me with the form of agreement that I did not receive for the items. Her rudeness , sarcasm and dismissiveness threw the enjoyment of being a consigner and customer out the door. Sad when experiences such as this happen. Hoping for them, it was an off day, but I can no longer endorse a recommendation .

They are always well stocked, have a large discount section and seem to get new items in before other H&M stores. Also, unlike many H&Ms it's clean and well organized. Finding things isn't an exercise in futility. No clothes in the isles. Nothing just dumped on the rack. Also, all of the employees I've encountered have been friendly, helpful and polite. I haven't checked out the women's or childrens sections so I cant really comment. However, just passing through to mens it seems the same. Neat and tidy. Great location and worth the 45 minute drive for me to get there!

Walking into this store is like walking into the stores up north in Maine,Vermont etc., where you find good quality mens clothing and unique giftware. It has a welcoming environment, with beautiful displays of merchandise. My husband bought a nice pair of shorts and at the sister store, Compass Rose, I bought a unique top and beautiful lightweight handbag. The staff in both stores were welcoming and friendly. Thank you to the owner who has done an excellent job of ordering great clothes and giftware for men and women in both stores. I will be back!!!

She was the only staff member so I cant imagine it being too difficult to find out. I should've asked her for her name. She was a brunette with long hair, pale skin. I was in your shop for about 20-25 minutes. From the moment I walked in till the last second I walked out, I was never greeted ONCE. I didn't even get a blink of an eye. At one point, towards the end of my visit as I lapped through the entire store, my last round after looking at the shoes was looking at the jewelry that was on the counter where the register is, I purposely stood about 1 feet away from her to see if I can get ANY acknowledgement and still, she didnt say 1 word. There wasnt any "hello. How are you? Let me know if I can help." NOTHING!!!! I saw so many cute things in this shop, but quite honestly, I told myself Im not going to buy anything if I dont even get the slightest half smile from her. I gave 20+ minutes of a chance.
