Until now. Located in a preserved, historic building which was built in the 1920s, you might miss it if you weren't looking for it. It's on the edge of a residential area, and just east of Young Circle, so it gets a little lost in it's surroundings, but it's definitely worth exploring. The parking lot is free, and there's also street parking available. Entrance is $10 for adults, discounted for kids and seniors, and free with membership. The Center holds three exhibition spaces downstairs and one upstairs. The main exhibit space is rather large, which you can tell by looking at the current exhibition (ANIMALS), which showcased various media depictions and representations of animals. Behind the main space, there are also desks and drawings from patrons or the students at the school. There is also an artistic garden which may be a lot more enjoyable when the temperatures cool down. I met Joanna who did an amazing job of providing me with updates about events, history, and meet the artist days, which I believe are also free. I will definitely be back to check out other exhibitions and hopefully be able to attend an exhibition opening or two in the near future. If you're looking to improve your cultural aspirations for you and your family, come check out the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood. Be sure to tell Joanna I sent you

Check in wasn't smooth, but the space is definitely much larger than it appears from the outside. The honey enjoyed Environmental Futures III on the first floor and I enjoyed the 'Somewhere I Belong' installation and the community art upstairs, which was fantastic. They also had a piece by a local glass blower Brenna who participated in the Netflix show Blown Away. The piece had an inverted color scheme, but was otherwise a duplicate to the piece she created when she was eliminated. I would have loved to have seen an entire section dedicated to her pieces because beyond the glass and the art upstairs, the general curation wasn't really to my taste. All in all, the service was upbeat and helpful, but with general admission at $7, ($4 for students) I would call the experience slightly overpriced unless you're here under NARM.

This day we saw a super fun magician I knew from a Netflix series. It worked well here! Last time we did the VIP tickets and met some cool local patrons in the VIP lounge where they give you complimentary snacks & discounted drinks. It's a nice perk to support the local arts! Parking is easy and reasonable enough. The area itself is a bit depressed, but seems safe enough. Ushers are friendly and helpful, elevator and bar service have fun offerings and bathrooms are fine. If you find yourself in the area, Don't sleep on viewing your favorite shows here. Check it out when in the area. Happy summer yelping in 2026! ~Tami in Miami

You know you're walking into a real theater when the building itself makes you slow down for a…read moresecond and say, "Alright... this is going to be a night." Not a strip mall stage wedged between a nail salon and a frozen yogurt shop. A real theater. The kind that feels like it was built for big voices, bright lights, and the occasional crowd singing along a little too loudly after a couple of pre-show drinks. That's the first thing you notice about the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Sitting right along the river in downtown Fort Lauderdale, the place just looks like it belongs there. Modern lines, big glass, clean design. But at the same time it still carries the charm and warmth you expect from a classic theater. It feels like a venue that was designed for nights out. Once inside, the layout works well. Sightlines are excellent. Whether you're down low or up in the higher seats, the stage is easy to see and you never feel like you're watching from a bad angle. But here's the one thing that caught us by surprise. The sound system struggles a bit when you get up into the higher seats. The speakers just don't quite reach that far with the same clarity, so the sound can come across a little muffled. Here's the pro tip. If you're sitting high, save the money and go cheaper on the ticket because the sound quality up there probably won't match what you'd expect from a premium seat anyway. The parking situation has actually improved. Getting in is easier now that they switched to the pay by plate app system. You drive in, park, handle the payment on your phone and head to the show. Simple. Leaving, however, is another story. Getting out of the parking lot after a show can feel like a bit of an adventure. This is where patience becomes part of the evening's entertainment. Give yourself time and don't expect a quick exit. We saw Darius Rucker last night, and even with the sound challenges in the higher seats, it was still a really fun night. Good music, a great crowd, and the kind of energy that makes live shows worth it every time. Here's the move if you're coming here. Go early. Grab dinner or drinks somewhere nearby. Walk over without rushing and enjoy the atmosphere around the theater. And when the show ends, don't fight the traffic. Take your time and let the crowd thin out. Do it that way and the Broward Center becomes exactly what it should be. An outstanding way to spend a Saturday night.

Since parking there is limited, there is additional parking next door at the Dania Beach Casino. Put on by the Dania Beach Community Redevelopment Agency the festival melds food, art, and entertainment. Entertainment included live musicians performing on the stage and sand sculpting. There were food tents and trucks set up selling all kinds of seafood but also fair food. The art side of the festival featured artists selling works in drawing, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather, acrylic, oil, watercolor, and photography. There were also arts and crafts, artisan food, and plant vendors. Local community groups and businesses also had booths passing out information, swag, and samples. I won a free hat from the casino! Many people brought chairs and set up for the day on the field or under the shade of the trees. On the last night of the festival there was a concert featuring a Queen cover band. Held over the entire weekend there was more than enough to keep you occupied for several hours. This is a great family and dog friendly event.

There were many local artisans selling jewelry, crafts, and artwork at reasonable prices. All of the tents provided some shade which was so necessary because it was extremely warm! The music stage was so much bigger than I thought it was going to be and had incredible talent on it throughout the day. The Foreigner cover band was excellent! My favorite part of the event was the chef showcase! Local chefs from the area prepped a few dishes live for the audience. They shared their cooking techniques, tips, and tricks and once the dishes were done they shared tastes of each dish with the crowd. It was so entertaining and everything was delicious!

Stranahan House is the oldest structure in Broward County, and I really enjoyed learning more about the history of the area, and especially about Ivy Stranahan's activism. It really gave me a new appreciation for the area. My favorite part was the upstairs porch, with a beautiful, relaxing view of the New River. I took the volunteer's advice and sat up there for a minute enjoying it instead of rushing through, and I'm so glad I did. Be aware that upstairs isn't air conditioned, so half of the tour is really hot. Dress accordingly or bring a fan! Overall, I'd highly recommend stopping by! It's been YEARS. That too was certainly a let down. There was nothing more to see in the abandoned ...library downstairs or even upstairs in the wedding area. So creepy! I could only access three tiny rooms filled with rich history in writing and pictures along the walls and some artifacts. The classroom was my best experience. I found it extremely interesting to have seen the pictures ...of so many children that came to this school from the 1920s until the 80s! And they even had some of the original desks against the wall by the windows ...inside of the classroom, whereas the main ones in the middle were all donations. So basically I paid $3 admission with their food stamps discount to view all 3 of their tiny rooms; $1 per room hahaha! There's not much to see here, so I'm just warning you guys. They also ONLY allow field trip kids to tour the school in the mornings and then they close ...very early by 3 which made me have to make a second trip here on another day. The parking lot was completely empty with the exception of an elderly couple that pulled up ...as one of the employees escorted me to view the school building.
