I purchased my wedding dress from a boutique sale. It was beautiful, reasonably priced, and 5 dress sizes too big. The boutique told me their starting price for alterations, which already was out of my budget. A friend of mine recommended Dana's shop, and told me she did a wonderful job on her wedding dress. Dana did an amazing job with my dress! And at a lower cost than the boutique's starting price. Even with all of the lace detailing and beading in my dress, she lined everything back up perfectly. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My dress didn't need significant alterations, but Dana was super easy to work with nonetheless. She assured me that she had worked with very similar dresses in the past and found a way to take up the length but keep the train and include a bustle that was subtle and easy to do. I went back for one fitting and that was it! Highly recommend Dana to all the brides out there, this might've been the easiest take to handle out of all the things leading up to the wedding :)

Dana did wonders for this dress, which I bought too big! After the alterations, it fit me GREAT!

I actually had brought this dress to another alterations place, and had lost hope in this dress ever fitting me the way I wanted it to. It was too big and hung on me like a drape. I brought it here as a last minute save before I cut my losses and bought another dress. Dana agreed to take this on... a MONTH before my wedding! It was pricey ($400) but worth it. She expertly took out a panel of the corset on each side, and painstakingly sewed each individual beaded flower back on the bodice. She shortened the bottom of the dress, and carefully measured out the lines to keep the bubble shape. If I had known how much work this was, I might not have bought the dress! But Dana had me come in for a few fittings to make sure that all of the work was done to fit me perfectly. She made sure I could sit down in it. That I practiced walking in it, with the heels I would wear on the wedding day. She helped me bustle it (7-point bustle, because the train of the dress is off to one side). She even took pictures of the back of the dress for me, so I could really see it. I got SO MANY COMPLIMENTS on this dress! My grandmother was a professional seamstress before she retired, and she said this was the most beautiful dress she had seen. (She might be slightly biased). Wedding guests told me it had the "wow factor." People on the street stared at my dress. Another bride I crossed paths with during our first look pictures told me how beautiful my dress was (I was nice and returned the compliment). But what made it worth every penny was the look on my fiance's face when he saw me. Worth. Every. Penny. Thank you Dana for saving me so much stress on my big day, and helping me look fabulous!

Grace Fashion made my walk down the aisle a dream because of my dream dress with the most perfect alterations!

I bought my wedding dress from Glamour Closet in Chicago and as most brides are, I was beyond in love with my dress. Since it came from a sample dress store, I obviously needed alterations done, and the first place that Glamour Closet will refer you to is Davis Imperial Cleaners. After my first appointment with Davis Imperial, I left with my dress in hand in search of a talented seamstress that would be reasonably priced. Davis Imperial is white glove service, and you definitely pay for their services plus a hefty mark-up. My mom and I both found Dana through Yelp and I made an appointment right away. To say the least, my dress looked like it was literally custom made for me on my wedding day. She did such a beautiful job with every aspect of the alterations, and I also had her make my veil which was absolute perfection. The price for my overall alternations on the dress was MUCH more reasonable and worth every single penny. I would refer anyone who asked to Dana at Grace Fashion whether it be for simple alterations or something as important as your wedding dress. She is a very skilled woman!!!

The bodice fits badly. I asked her to fix but she told me to just stand up straight. The hem is far too long in the front and dragged.

I hate hate hate to give Dana 3 stars because I really did enjoy working with her overall for my wedding dress alterations, but now that everything is said and done and the wedding is over and I've seen pictures of me in the dress, I really wish I had been more assertive and told her that I was not totally satisfied with my alterations...but I wish I hadn't have had to in the first place because she should have seen that my dress was NOT up to par and did not fit my body correctly. I paid $400 for alterations here, and I was fine with the price because my dress had several layers of tulle. However, even though the hem was measured when I was wearing 3 inch heels and I ultimately wore 4 inch heels (Dana said she'd left an inch extra in case I got higher heels...) the hem was STILL too long with the higher heels so I spent much of my wedding day tripping over the front of my dress or holding it up. When I called this to her attention during my final dress fitting, she told me it would cost another $400 to fix. So I dealt with it and it was annoying. But the hem wasn't the big thing that I regret. The big issue for me was that the fabric of the fitted bodice of the dress had a layer of tulle over it and the fabric underneath the tulle bunched up really weird and made me look like I had a gut and just looked bad. I hated it. When I asked Dana if she could fix it she said "stand up straight and you won't be able to see it." I shouldn't have to "stand up straight" for my wedding dress to fit correctly. It simply should fit. Now I have a bunch of pictures with the bodice of my wedding dress looking messy and ill-fitted. I'm very disappointed, especially because I loved my wedding dress soooo much; it was perfect for me except for the bad tailoring. Plus she added sleeves that were measured incorrectly and were too big so that I had to wear fashion tape to keep them from falling. Again, you shouldn't have to tape up sleeves...they should fit your shoulders, especially when you're having a professional tailor them for you! Luckily, overall, I looked fabulous on my wedding day regardless but I really wish I had gone to a different alterationist. I should have just taken the dress to the women at David's Bridal who are used to doing alterations on my exact dress. I feel like she went the lazy route on me. Sorry, Dana. :-(

Last year, I was a bridesmaid in 5 weddings and had 5 ugly bridesmaids dresses! I went to Dana Juskeviciene at House of Brides and she turned my frown upside down! It didn't matter what "challenge" the dress had. Dana was able to overcome every curve ball I threw at her. I only bought one dress at the HOB, but I still went back for her tailoring talents. Now Dana has her own shop in Lakeview and I go there for all of my tailoring needs. If you are looking for an extremely talented tailor call her! Trust me, you will not regret it!!!

Amazing alterations on my wedding dress! I couldn't be happier with the fittings and the attentiveness to detail! :)

The dress fit perfectly afterward and they completed it within a week, earlier than the pickup date I had asked for. The main issue for me was the organization during pickup. I received a text saying my dress was ready, but when I arrived they brought out a completely different piece of clothing even after I clearly described my dress. Turns out they had mixed up the name tags between my dress and someone else's. I ended up going to the back with them and immediately spotted my dress myself. I pointed it out and they asked if I was sure it was mine, which was a little strange. Then they asked me to try it on. At first I thought they just wanted to confirm the alterations looked right, but it turned out they wanted to see if it fit me to determine whether it was actually my dress. Thankfully it fit like a glove. Even after that, they still seemed unsure so I showed Yelp messages I had previously sent with photos of the dress, along with my receipt and even how much I paid. I usually throw receipts away, so thank goodness I still had it. After confirming in multiple different ways, they finally let me take my dress home. Another woman was also there picking up clothing after receiving a text notification and they were struggling to locate her item too, so it didn't seem like an isolated issue. Overall, I think the tailoring work itself is solid, but the shop felt pretty disorganized. The guy working there did apologize before I left, which I appreciated, but the whole process of having to repeatedly prove the dress was mine was definitely frustrating.

My dress was a way too big in some places and snug in others but also had a lot of detailing that makes it difficult to hem or alter. I was very stressed about getting it altered. On my first appointment, Niki walked me through everything she was going to do step by step and explained in detail what it was going to look like and answered all of my 1 million questions on what she was going to cut, what she wasn't going to cut where she was going to buttons, etc. Throughout the process, she happily addressed all my concerns at every appointment. You can tell Niki takes great pride in her work and I love that. It fits me like a glove now and I'm thrilled with how it came out! The people at this shop are so warm and friendly and make you feel right at home. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who needs a dress altered. Mine felt like it was going to be impossible to get right because of the details and construction of the dress but Niki really came through. Just make sure you bring in your clothes with plenty of time to alter because Niki cares deeply about the quality of her work and she won't want to do a sloppy rush job on your garments! And really, isn't that exactly the kind of care you want from your tailor? 10/10 would recommend!
