If you have an issue with the school and take it all the way up the chain of command to the Superintendent/Regional Director Catholic School Department just know they are of no help in resolving issues and parents speaking out.

High for an incoming 6th grader…read more I was completely impressed and frankly touched with schools academics, and teaching approach, the faculty/administrators, the current student body and the religious part of the curriculum. The teachers/administrators have longevity and several of them are Saint James alumni. The students, including the classroom ambassadors from Grades k-8 --communicated their classroom structure and daily activities in a superb manner--including the kindergartens/first grader's-- through the 8th graders. I was able to chat with the principal, Vice principal, and each teacher. My guide was Francis and she was wonderful. Great school near Noe Valley.

His preparation was incredibly kind and down to earth. I felt that at the time he delivered the homily at our mass, he really knew me and my husband. The St. James wedding coordinator is WONDERFUL. Mrs. Colenzo was hands down the most helpful person we encountered in 3 parishes! She is a calm person, helpful and very organized. She had so many good ideas to help make our mass go smoothly and was able to help us over the phone and accommodate our schedule when we came in to Davis from SF. If you are trying to decide on a wedding location and you have the option to marry in Davis, do it! The best support and organization in all of the Sacramento Parish.

Following those years I started coming to St. James after hearing Father Bong Rojas pastor there. Nowadays I stop in occasionally for daily mass at 7AM (Father Doogan) to start the day early/right and not be late for work or cut into my evening (compared to the 8:30AM or 6:30PM options at Divine Mercy Natomas closer to home). Was most recently there for Ash Wednesday. There is a small parking lot in the front of the church along B Street, but also a larger parking lot behind the church, entrance on W. 14th. The pews are pretty creaky and the sound system is showing signs of age too, which can be forgiven as part of its "charm" I suppose...kneelers still in pretty good shape. Stained glass windows are beautiful. Also, this may be the foodie part of me, but their communion host (wafer) has a nice taste to it. I can't say that about all parishes. I don't go to Sunday mass here, so I only get to see the one piano player or cantor, and lectors rather than full altar servers and choir. I appreciate the ringing of the altar bells during the consecration of bread and wine -- not every church does that either.

All the teachers and the director have been incredibly supportive in caring for and teaching my son. At his previous daycare, he had a negative experience, but after touring over five facilities, my heart knew Saint James Christian School was the right place for him. I signed up the same day I met with the director, Ms. Trish. Initially, I was uncertain about how my son would adjust given his past experiences. However, from day one, the teachers made him feel safe and cared for. By day two, he didn't want to leave! Every day after school, he asked to return, and he even dreaded the weekends because he couldn't go to school. The student-to-teacher ratio is excellent, unlike other schools that struggle with this issue. Saint James ensures there are more than enough teachers to care for the children. I also appreciate the strong sense of community here. There are many volunteer opportunities to support the kids, and we get to know other parents and the teachers very well. The school hosts fun annual events like auctions, holiday performances, special event days, water days for hot summer temperatures and various field trips (pumpkin patch, Oakland Zoo, park picnic) that my son has thoroughly enjoyed. I've also enrolled my older son in the summer camp, which he loves. He always asks to return and tells me he has a great time at Saint James. I plan to enroll both for summer camp annually. I highly recommend Saint James Christian Preschool to any parent!

The teachers are not only kind…read moreand compassionate, but they bring a level of thoughtfulness and dedication that shows just how much they care about each child. Many of them have been with the school for decades, and that stability really speaks to the nurturing environment they have helped create. I like the mixture of structure and child directed play within the curriculum. I feel confident dropping my children off each day, knowing they're safe and well cared for, learning, growing, staying curious and inspired. The parent community is also warm, welcoming, and truly supportive. An absolute gem in San Leandro.

Nice painted murals around the front/tabernacle of the church and well maintained stained glass windows that haven't change since I've 1st step foot in that church. What I like about the sermon's with Father Jerome Foley is that it isn't overbearing and long winded. It's to the point and relevant to what's going on now.

The teachers are wonderfully loving and experienced across the board from both the youngest year (Turtle class) to the oldest (Rabbit class). Both the curriculum and enrichment activities are fantastic. The weekly field trips in the pre-K class are a highlight - my eldest has loved the regular trip to the Headlands with Nature Bridge, museums, parks, etc! The entire staff has also been beyond supportive and caring, both during the Kindergarten process and during any challenging times we have had with our kiddos. We have also formed deep bonds across the parent community, which was something we weren't expecting but are truly grateful for. He is literally a "straight shooter," votes for conservative values, a committed capitalist, and extremely patriotic. Except for the occasional beer, he does not smoke, does not take any mind altering drugs of any type, highly disciplined, and self motivated.
