Unacceptable Manager Conduct…read more
My daughter keeps asking me after what happened today: 'Dad, why did auntie Cindy lie?'
For many years even before the pandemic, we have been taking both of our kids to SK Taekwondo at this location. We came to know SK Taekwondo through our kids parents referral, and we value their teaching on the skill, and good character building such as discipline, self-control, and respectful etc.
But, our good experience completely changed today after an incident that involved my daughter and how the manager, Cindy, was handling it.
In the middle of the class today, my daughter came to me and told me that her foot was hurt, and that she might need to put on a bandage to prevent further damage so she can continue the class. I took a look at her foot, not serious but a little blood due to the cut. I told her that she could try to go ask the manager, Cindy, to borrow a bandage if she has one available.
To my surprise, my daughter came back and told me the manager told her that there is no blood, don't be a baby, and get back to the class.
I told her that maybe she should try ask again because I don't think my daughter should go back to the class to continue practicing her kicking lesson with an open wound on her foot, as this may make her existing cut worse with more pain and possible germs get in through her cut.
Then the manager came back with my daughter, with a bandage in her hand, but asking me to go to her office.
When we're in her office, instead of providing the bandage so my daughter can continue her class, the manager told me that girls and boys took injury differently, and girls tend to make small little hurt a big issue to walk away from the class. She told me that there is no blood on my daughter's leg, and that she does not need a bandage to go back to her class.
While I agree that there might be some kids or girls would do that, but I have to disagree on her saying that there is no blood on my daughter's leg, and she does not need any bandage to cover her cut for her to continue the same kicking move in the class.
I told her to take a closer look on my daughter's leg as I can clearly see blood, and the opening is exposing her cut to germs. She asked my daughter to show her leg again, and immediately, without looking at it, she said that was an old wound. I was like, 'What?" Are you serious? That is clearly a fresh new cut and she didn't even care to take a second look to say it was an old scar!
She then went outside to bring in Master Lee. I repeated what happened to Master Lee, and the manager, right away denied that she say anything about mentioning on 'old scar wound'. I was so shock and unbelievable on what I heard!! She was literally lying in front of me, and my daughter for something that she just said 1 minute ago! Why would she do that?????
I have to confront her on her lying in front of my daughter, and gave us a hard time while we simply asking for a little piece of bandage so my daughter can continue on the class! And she told us to GET OUT OF HER OFFICE! Twice!
I cannot believe what just happened to us, and the way we're treated! This should not happened to any parents!
As a parent that sends kids to this facility for years, I would expect that the kids safety is a priority, but this manager's conduct today clearly tell a different story!
I also do not believe that 'Telling a lie' in front of a kid is a good example for all the kids that look up to their masters of this facility! It clearly violate the value of good character building and teaching that we see this facility is enforcing! I'm very disappointed over how the manager handled this little request of ours and set a bad example to my daughter. She definitely owes us an apology for her conduct today!
For these reasons, I have asked for the owner's contact and I think he needs to know what happened if he is serious about enforcing his teaching at this facility. Master Lee took down my name, phone number, and email, and told me that the owner will be calling me.
I will be posting future updates on how the owner is responding to this incident which seriously ruined the trust that we have rendered to his team at this facility.
