I started my Jiu Jitsu journey again after a seven year hiatus. Although I was reluctant to start again, I cannot express how lucky I was to have found Logic. I admittedly first signed up in light of the fact that the academy offers late morning classes, which perfectly fits my schedule. Although it is an odd time for most, the classes have always had plenty of students of all belt levels. Prof. Lucas and Prof. Thiago have been nothing but outstanding! It is evident that the relationships they have built with their students goes beyond merely being transactional. There is genuine care, trust and concern for everyone's wellbeing and safely. Not a second is wasted during class. The instructors are always open to questions and concerns about the techniques. They tailor the classes to fit the students in attendance; so that nothing is too complex or too remedial. In my experience, my classmates have been nothing but respectful, careful and willing to help out where they can. At other academies I have never witnessed instructors for kids classes genuinely enjoying themselves. This is not the case here. Prof. Thiago beams while teaching. If our youth classes garner 1/10th the grace and respect show by Thiago, they will not only turn out to be genuinely good people, but will be confident in what they learn. I understand that writing these types of reviews are biased. But, if you have gotten this far, let me put it simply: Prof. Lucas has built a Jiu Jitsu community that allows for you to get whatever you want out of it. After driving past this location numerous times for years, November 2025 (better late than never as they say) was when I finally decided to reach out to the Logic IG account and get the free trial lesson booked. They provide a clean Gi for the trial lesson (just show up 10 mins before the practice starts) and off I went to link up with the rest of the group. The first 15 mins or so are dedicated for warm-up/stretching, thereafter the next 25-30 mins are to learn and practice several techniques, and the rest of the hour is to do live rolls/sparring. I was physically exhausted by the end of the trial class (I still get exhausted to this day), but felt great psychologically. There was no pressure to enroll, however it was a no-brainer for me. I want to take a moment to discuss the overall environment at Logic. Yes, I was the "new one" but felt welcomed and the folks I was practicing with genuinely wanted to make sure I was doing the techniques correctly. Everyone was (and still are) very patient. When I'd mess up a step, they'd say to not worry and try it again. They mentioned they went through the same process I was going through when they started. Professor Thiago is also open to questions and provides constructive feedback to ensure you succeed. He goes around and has a knack to notice where his presence is needed to support us. The second part of my review has to do with the kid courses. When I took my daughter for her trial lesson, the same structure that the adults go through they also experience. The exception is there are more coaches present to ensure the kids are focused when they practice, provide feedback and hands-on support (if necessary), encourage them, and most importantly keep them safe. The latter being a big positive since kids sometimes forget to tap, so the coach will tap for them and then reset. I echo the passage on a previous review with regards to Professor Thiago and all the instructors/coaches with the kids. They're enjoying themselves out there while teaching our young ones. It's infectious in a positive way. At the end of their lesson, they have the kids play a game as a reward for the hard work they put in. If you're a parent and are a bit hesitant on having your kid pick up BJJ, you can rest assured that you can trust the folks at Logic. Just give the trial lesson a try and see/experience it. Lastly, in addition to learning self-defense, you'll notice your body changing. When you're sparring you get both cardio and strength training. That's the cherry on top. I'm going to say this jiu jitsu academy is by far the best gym I've ever trained at. I started my first class back in 2021 when the pandemic was ending. Professor Lucas welcomed me with open arms into trying a class and Professor Thiago have been super informative, innovative, and super friendly, with creating a safe environment for anyone who wants to start on their first day or has been training. Their kids program is outstanding seeing the ways their coaches like Coach Adonis and Coach Josh with their patience. If I had kids, this academy would be the first that comes to mind when enrolling any youth into their program. Swing by and try out a class, always great to make good friends/teammates. read more

The county's top BJJ school. Professor Rocha and Thiago welcomed me when I initially entered the academy. The members of Logic are all genuinely welcoming. The Professor are really serious about what they teach, and the classes are excellent and essential. You'll improve your physical fitness, learn self-defense (sometimes they teach self-defense in real-life situations, which is great because no other martial arts gym does that), and you'll get stronger. Jiu Jitsu challenged me to develop personally, helped me gain confidence, lose weight, and reduced my stress. I would have bad days but after going to Jiu Jitsu class, I feel much better. You'll feel like a member of the family and make friends. The community is extremely friendly and kind to everyone that enters the academy. All of the members don't view sparring as a competition; instead, they will match your skill level. Even if you disclose to your sparring partner particular injuries, they will work with you. Even the professor will understand if you explain that there are some things your body simply cannot accomplish. They have multiples locations each with a unique timetable. I find it convenient that if you miss a morning, you may come back later in the day or visit a different site at a different time. Locations at Irwandale and La Verne they both have a kids area where you can drop off your kids if that helps anyone. Also If you would want, they might even take you to a competition. Being a member of the academy is like being in a creed. They have other great Professor such as Kaori and Mike they're both really great and helped me so much with my Jiu Jitsu game. I highly recommend trying to ask advice from them also. They also have their locations Kaori is at Irwandale and Mike is at Alhambra. I encourage you guys to check out other locations. Every Professor has a unique way of teaching. Just in case if anyone wants to know, at Arcadia location they have a restroom, changing room, and benches so you can bring spectators if you like. Fantastic training under some serious black belts. Good vibes and good training. I've been coming here for about a year now and could not be happier. Professor Lucas is a world champion and the nicest guy you'll meet. That duality of taking bjj seriously, but not taking ourselves too seriously trickles down to the gym. Great atmosphere and competitive training. Friendly for first time white belts and challenging enough for upper belts. I typically go in the morning/ noon classes and the class usually has about 7-15 students with a good mix of belts and body sizes. All classes are taught by competitive champion black belts. This is a wonderful wonderful place to train and to grow as a bjj practitioner. The professors are top notch and the environment is always welcoming. I started my bjj journey in 2017 at another school in Pasadena. Rarely at that other school was the lead professor actually teaching the classes or even present at the school even though his name was on the door. This is not the case at Logic. Professor Lucas trains and teaches at the Arcadia location. He is knowledgeable, egoless, and passionate about his school. And professor Thiago, who also teaches at Arcadia, is an amazing teacher, competitor, and just about one of the nicest people you will ever meet. There are also many black belts on the mat who train at Logic. They are just as helpful and egoless and encouraging. The school provides a safe, clean, and professional environment. Can't say enough about this school. I took two years off during the pandemic. So glad I started a new bjj chapter at Logic. I've been meaning to write a review for some time. Couldn't be happier.
