I have never used JSK for martial arts instruction, but I have benefited greatly from their…read moreservices and character. Specifically, in the emergency that befell Flemington in Hurricane Ida. We were en route to a family wedding near Doylestown, PA, and arrived at the US202S-South Main Street intersection the evening of September 1, 2021 as Ida's flash flooding hit Flemington. The rescues reported in the media were extraordinary.  Once they had plucked an endangered soul from the raging intersection, and had "deposited" him or her on high ground (many on the Point Mall knoll at 245 US202S), they returned to the floodwaters to save others. But what became of the numerous soaked, cold people they deposited?  There was immediate need, but no care services (like Red Cross) were available because road access for hand-off care providers was non-existent. We can tell you what DID become of about 30-35 stranded souls from about 7:30 PM to midnight: the JSK Taekwondo studio unhesitatingly stepped up and opened its doors to all comers.  JSK's on-duty staffer was a model practitioner of The Golden Rule.  Not only did he provide a safe, warm place out of the storm for the terrified people on his doorstep, he offered what food and warm clothes he could.  And not incidentally, he also made bathrooms available, not only to the refugees under his roof, but also to those who had driven to high ground in the Mall and parked outside the studio for 4-6 hours.  All of this came at great personal cost ro the staffer, having to re-clean the studio from his dripping and dirty charges, before endeavoring to make the long trip home himself to Basking Ridge.  Given the road closures that night, I suspect that he may have ended up sleeping overnight at the studio. I'm sure that JSK's extraordinary kindness is reflected equally capably in its instruction, and I hope this review encourages many locals to seek out JSK's martial arts instruction.

The community aspect of the Clinton Orange Theory keeps me consistent in attending and I feel a strong connection to the people. The head coach is very consistent, informative and upbeat. The manager is inspiring in her work ethic and supportive nature. The front desk people are welcoming. I have lost almost 40 pounds since this time last year and I am excited to see what my second year at Orange Theory brings!

The women's locker room is always tidy, the indoor pool is clear and doesn't smell like mold, the outdoor pool is like a spa. I love the layout of the fitness floor and how open it is. Yes it gets crowded but you should expect that at any gym during certain times. What really gets 5 starts though is the kids academy. The whole staff there is really awesome. They take care of kids like their own. I feel safe and confident leaving my little ones there while I exercise.

As a former…read moretennis player, I was excited to learn pickleball since it is the primary racquet sport offered at this location. Unfortunately, my experience with the pickleball program has been extremely disappointing. While the facility itself is beautiful, the culture on the pickleball courts is the opposite of what I expected from a premium club. The staff came across as gatekeepers rather than customer service professionals. Instead of making members feel welcome, I often felt as though they were deciding whether I was "allowed" to play. As a paying premium member, I should not feel like participation is a privilege granted by staff. The skill assessment process is another major concern. Members are required to pay for an assessment to access different levels of play, yet there is little transparency about how ratings are determined. In my experience, the results did not reflect actual on-court performance, and there was no meaningful explanation of the evaluation criteria. A player can compete successfully against intermediate-level players and still be placed in the beginner category without a clear explanation. A transparent, objective rating system would be much fairer. Reservations can also be canceled without meaningful notice or explanation, making it difficult for members to plan their schedules. After speaking with other members, I found that several expressed similar frustrations about the management of the pickleball program. People join Life Time because it is a premium club, and the membership fees reflect that. Members deserve professionalism, respect, transparency, and consistent customer service. The facilities are outstanding, but the management and customer experience of the Bridgewater pickleball program fell far short of the standards I expected.

I studied martial arts under MMA's owner and his team for 2-1/2 years. Regretfully, I had to stop…read moreover the last couple years due to professional reasons but am now working on going back -- and bringing one or two of my kids with me. First, I have to acknowledge that nobody and no business is perfect. But -- I gotta tell ya -- MMA comes close. They tell you what its policies are up front and they honor them. My experience with Montgomery has been uniformly positive and I can't wait to get started again. The owner is a pro, knows his art, treats his team well and manages the business firmly but fairly. No surprises -- what you see is what you get. He's a charming devil too, but that's not the point (grin). No review of this nature is useful unless the reader is familiar with how the majority of martial arts schools operate. If you do a careful, time-consuming local survey, you'll become educated find many of the local schools to be in a similar or higher price range -- up front. But after you are involved, there are significant fees associated with testing for next rank and a variety of other things. I have a little experience in this area. I call these belt-farms. You or your child will definitely get a black belt from one of these schools, but that is much different from BEING a black belt. And that brings me to the topic of quality... To pursue and become a black belt, you must be dedicated, humble and avail yourself of the benefit of the best teachers and management. That is what I found at Montgomery Martial Arts. I studied the same discipline in PA and in CA as well. In PA, the the talent was there among the leadership but the classes were poorly organized. In CA, the teaching was "OK" and so were the classes -- when they happened (unreliable). As I have been considering going back, I have been taking my kids to watch in the windows of other schools during their classes. Even my kids can see the difference. Do what we did -- go to other schools and watch through the windows. Pay close attention to individuals of higher ranks like brown or red belt and watch them carefully. Especially when they are kicking, watch how much control they have. How is their balance. Do they look confident. Do this at three schools to compare and then do the same at Montgomery Martial Arts. I guarantee if you do, you will arrive at the same conclusion as my 7 and 9 year olds who want to train at MMA. Bottom line -- Montgomery Martial Arts is a great school for adults as well as kids (which is also unusual). The instructors are first class because the owner won't have it any other way. And the owner is a fair and indulgent guy. If you're interested, follow my advice on the research and go for it! Have fun!!! John
