Had my bridal shower for 40 people in the Platinum Room on a Sunday and I have no regrets. It was well lit and spacious for me to take pictures and greet guests. We had so many compliments about the food especially the penne vodka, salmon, eggplant and potatoes. They even packed a few trays for us to take leftovers home. A handful of reviews said they clean up before your time is up and it's like they're kicking you out but we had no trouble while we were cleaning up until 4pm (event ended at 3). The only issue that came up is we had guests fill out advice cards and staff had thrown them out. Came here for a work event and it did not disappoint. The facilities were very clean and well kept. The bathrooms were stocked and tidy, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food wasn't bad either! From the banquet, I had the Caesar salad, two pieces of pepperoni pizza, and The roasted potatoes. Whoever seasoned those potatoes deserves a raise, they were so good! I came here for a wedding. I was impressed by the parking lot. There was plenty of parking to accommodate guests. The ceremony was held outside. After the ceremony, we head inside for cocktail hour. The staff were attentive and quick to assist. I took a tour of the place. There were 3 to 4 rooms of different sizes. I like the room my friend used for her wedding, because of the natural light that lit up the room. That natural light came in handy when the venue lost power! For about 15 minutes, all the power went out. We were told PSE&G were doing a repair nearby which is why the power went out. The power did come back quickly so it didn't affect the wedding. The food is what I was impressed with the most at this place. The best penne alla vodka pasta I ever had! It was a small portion since it was part of the cocktail hour. But holy cow I had to ask for another plate. Everyone at my table agreed. The main meal was good. Nothing negative to say about it. It was simply good. I don't normally eat dinner rolls especially since I had a lot of carbs eating two plates of penna alla vodka pasta. Something about the dinner roll was sooo good. I kept eating it since no one at my table was touching it. I must have eaten 4 rolls. The friend I came with tried it since she saw me eating it. She also agreed the dinner roll was delicious. This was a banquet hall with multiple rooms and an outdoor patio for seating too. I was in the room on the lower floor for a memorial luncheon. It was spacious with plenty of available tables. The service was friendly and appreciated. Regarding the food, there was a variety to choose from. There were wraps, Caesar salad, roasted vegetables, pasta salad, chicken Francaise, sliced beef, penne vodka, roasted potatoes, etc. It was all solid for the most part. I won't explain everything I ate, but just give some high-level thoughts. The Caesar salad was decent. The Caesar dressing was watered down. My favorite was the beef entrée, cooked nicely with plenty of flavor. Regarding dessert, they had Neapolitan ice cream with several cookie choices. The chocolate chip cookie was outstanding. Came here for a bridal shower. Loved how it's tucked away off the main road and has its own lot, so you're not fighting for a spot on the street. Our event was in one of the smaller rooms downstairs. You'd think it would be a dark, dirty basement but this was far from it. There was a door leading to a patio area outside so we had natural light coming in. And we were close to the bathroom. Speaking of, those were clean and there was enough room for 1-3 people to get ready and do makeup at the mirror. I knocked off a star because the food was subpar. This was seriously one of the best experiences I have had with a venue. From the very first meeting with Al, he was so so nice. So accommodating, so professional while also being really cool. Not pushy at all. He was so wonderful with everything that we walked out of there knowing we were going to stop looking at venues because this was it. Leading up to our event (which took place last night), Al was amazing at keeping in touch and was so friendly any time that we called to ask questions. He was also superrrr chill which was such a breath of fresh air. The venue itself is BEAUTIFUL! The rooms are so so nice. We had the platinum room and it was the perfect size for our guests, DJ, Dessert table, etc. Now onto the actual event: could not have asked for it to go better in terms of the venue and staff, food etc. The staff was INCREDIBLE. They were so so nice, so friendly and so professional. They were so respectful and worked so hard so that we could have a good time. Al was there, looking super fresh I might add. We also had Tyler, Samantha, Roseann, and Joanne. AMAZING. I truly want them to get recognized for the awesome job they did. Finally, the food: delicious. This was the perfect place for my cousins small baby shower. The terrace room was gorgeous and the place itself is very clean enforcing all covid protocols. I could definitely see this place as a great party/sweet 16 place. I loathe catering hall food but this place was the best! The vodka sauce was drinkable, and everyone wanted seconds from the buffet (IMO you can have all the bells and whistles but if the food is awful I won't want to return). We had our daughter's Sweet 16 at this venue, we had the mirror room with the outdoor space, The venue has multiple rooms to chose from Depending on the number of guests. The service we received from Joanne, the Manager was excellent, very flexible and very helpful throughout, was able to reach her whenever I needed assistance or had a question, She was very responsive and always offered a solution. Her team that evening was excellent ensured our guests were well taken care of and the servers too were excellent, the food was superb everyone had a great time. I have nothing but good things to say. My husband and I had our reception party here and from the planning to the execution I would go as far as to say that everything was flawless. Al was amazing to work with. He was welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure I was at ease throughout the entire planning process. He made himself available as often as I needed him to be and was was such a joy and pleasure to work with. I even spoke with Gary, the owner and chef a few times, and each interaction with him whether over phone or email was always pleasant and he was super responsive. When I walked into the reception room for the first time once everything was decorated I was so pleased with how everything turned out. The room was beautiful, and the set up of the room was exactly as I requested/envisioned. As a type A person, I was really nervous not having full control of every little detail, but Al and his staff really came through. Throughout the evening they took care of absolutely everything my husand and I needed. The food was delicious, the drinks were flowing, and it was overall a perfect evening in my opinion. We received so many compliements from family and friends on how lovely everything was, how friendly and accommodating the saff was, and how the food delicious. We were married here on June 13, 2021! We had our ceremony and reception here and I honestly have zero complaints. Only good things can be said. From our initial meeting with Gary the owner to my calls in to Joanne!Al was our maître d' and seriously he anticipated every single one of our needs and then some! He put together my candy bar and it looked amazing! He kept the flow of things moving perfectly and flawlessly! He's been in this business for a long time and it shows! He is seriously an amazing human who made me always feel like he cared and I never felt like his time was divided! As the bride I could not have asked for a better experience!!! As I was getting ready I had Arcadia helping me and she was a gem! She helped me get dressed and she helped me keep calm and stay focused on the good things! She held my dress for me and helped me get around before the ceremony! She even came in clutch when I'm the bracelet I had was too small for me and gave me a beautiful brand new bracelet that I have not taken off since! We got so many compliments on the food and the beauty of the room. We loved the food so much that we already ordered trays of food for Father's Day from them! We had the terrace room. It was so beautiful with the balcony and the windows! They decorate everything so nicely there and having the balcony was a huge plus for the smokers in the family. They weren't outcasts and could still be part of things because of the wall of windows. If someone who was smoking was needed they were able to quickly come right back in not missing anything. What Can I say about Gran Centurions? Well, I came here last week for an NJIT event for work. The Hall wasn't very large or anything spectacular but we had 200 guests to accommodate for and we all fit in conveniently. Every staff member was polite and at the end of the night they were flexible with providing two bills for us. One for food and one for the renting the venue. We needed to have the bills split that way purposely and not many locations provide that service which we were grateful for. There was a cash bar and hors d' oeuvres going around. There was coconut shrimp, calamari, stuffed mushrooms, and chicken skewers. When it was time for the food to come out, they were unfortunately late and the executive table didn't receive their salads. That wasn't a good start to upset the executives. There were three different entree options to choose from; chicken, salmon, or vegetarian. I selected the salmon entree and was not impressed. The butter sauce on the salmon was too tart and not the right type of butter sauce for a salmon in my opinion. The entree came along with veggies and mashed potatoes but was like a brûlée. It was hard for the most part and who wants hard mashed potatoes? Dessert was only one option.... ice cream. It was 20 degrees out. Again, the executive table did not receive their coffee and received their ice cream five minutes before leaving. Not to mention, the ice cream had that icy texture so we knew it was probably old. We came to the Centurion as a last resort when the other venue that we booked 2 years earlier decided to up-sale our date! I could not ask for anything more from Fran who bent over backwards to accommodate 120 people last minute! We had the ceremony & reception all in one place and even though it was not exactly what we wanted, it still came out beautiful! The food was my favorite part of the night! Not what anyone expected after reading the reviews but we decided on a buffet and OMG everyone was going up for 2nd and even thirds & we still had plenty left over! Would I book this venue again? My wife and I just had our wedding and with all of the stress leading up to our big day I honestly can not thank Fran and the rest of the Gran Centurions staff enough for putting us at ease for the whole ceremony. We didn't even have time to be worried or anxious as the staff was insanely attentive and detail oriented from the second we arrived as "nervously betrothed" to the last few moments as we collected our things and left happy newlyweds. With fantastic food, an atmosphere that manages to feel grand and gorgeous without being obnoxious or over the top, to a genuine enthusiasm from an attentive staff who seemed just happy to be part of our special day. This venue is phenomenal. We had an awesome experience 8/5/17 for my daughter sweet 16. Fran was there for every step to help us through the process. I love her spirit, and she is very direct and upfront, which is awesome. They were very professional. The staff that served us were friendly, nice, and helpful. My daughter and her friends got dressed in a bigger room, because there weren't any other events going, and she let us come in at 11:00 am to set up, which Fran didn't have to do. Joanne was at first what sold me on this place for our wedding. She is very understanding, patient, and her response time is amazing. She gets back to me right away so I don't have to worry about her not communicating (we've had problems with that with other venues). I attended a baby shower this weekend and I must say I was extremely impressed with this venue. The facility itself was very nice and the food was surprisingly good (a number of people commented that our meal was better than what they had experienced at many 4-5 star restaurants!). However the service was absolutely incredible!! The staff was friendly, courteous and very attentive. They clearly wanted everyone to enjoy themselves and they were willing to do whatever they could to help out in any way possible. Everything went smoothly with the help of the staff - from the planning, to the set up, to the events that day. The outdoor garden area was beautiful and simple. The staff took all necessary covid precautions, yet we were still able to feel normal and celebrated. The food was excellent - there were so many different dishes and everyone complimented it! Gary (the owner) was very nice and easy to deal with, he was very laid back and didn't rush us with payments, dates, menus... Nothing! My mother's wedding was in July so I'm super late! JOANNE is the best! Before I rant about her excellence id like to say that the entire staff was amazing! The staff at the buffet( shout out to the cooks the food was beyond amazing) , the bartenders ( super fun and fast) and even the people who were bussing tables were super pleasant. I was amazed at how fast they worked. I didn't spill a plate on my dress( my usual behavior). Do you know why? It's not because I'm an adult and I'm super careful ( I am an adult but I'm clumsy,.babies keep their clothes cleaner than I do.) It's because as soon as I ate the last crumb, the plate disappeared. Before I can blink everything was clean and stayed clean all night. Joanne is the definition of a powerhouse. One minute she was serving food, the next she was bussing a table. I danced for a couple minutes and boom, shes serving cake. I think what makes her so great is that she smiled the whole time. She genuinely loves her Job and you can tell. Shes able to organize and keep everyone in check but she also put herself in the line of fire (she actually worked with the crew). I have a lot of respect for her and the staff. They made my mom's special day perfect. There was a lot of us and the staff didn't break a sweat ! I had a great time and honestly it's all because of the great staff at the Gran Centurion. Went to Gran Centurions for Mother's Day Brunch. The advertised price was $35.95 plus tax plus service charge. Be aware that the service charge is not the tip!! So we were charged $35.95 plus tax plus a 20% service charge (no one could tell us exactly what that service charge was for) and we left a 20% tip for our server....which equals a combined 40% service charge and tip for at best mediocre food. The staff spent more time outside taking breaks than attending to the party. There was no water or soda on table and tables were pushed so close to the bar with one bar tender and a huge line that it was uncomfortable. Not only is this a great venue, but the incredible customer service really made our night special. From the manager's can do attitude to the wait staff's personal touch and commitment to customer satisfaction, I highly recommend this venue for events both big and small. The decor is styled just enough for you to add your personal touch or just go with what they provide. The food is pretty good but it's probably worth the menu upgrades for more options. They make sure you have plenty food for your guests too. So much so, we took some home after our 60 guest event, which was great! Went to the Gran Centurions' Mother's Day brunch today and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. First off...the food...which was eh...ok...nothing great for a $35.95 buffet but secondly, it's the deceptive pricing that had me and my family so upset. Advertised as $35.95 plus tax and a 20% service charge. I get the bill...4 adults...2 children...total $230 which for the quality of food is way overpriced. I ask our waitress if her tip was included in the bill and she says "no." Both my mom and dad say it was, so we go up to ask the hostess "Jeannie" and she says "Yes, there is a $7.20 added for every adult ($35.95 * 20%). So walking out of the dining area I tell our waitress what the hostess said, and she reiterates... "No...there is no tip included...and the same thing happened to me with the Easter brunch." Going back to the hostess I again ask, "where does the 20% go?" She now states "It goes to the house." "How much do the bartenders and waitstaff get from the 20%?" "Ummmm....nothing...it's paid to the house" she replies. So apparently the buffet is deceptively priced at $35.95 even though they're charging over $43 plus tax. Just advertise it $42.95 plus tax...instead of trying to make it seem like you're paying the waitstaff with the 20%. I know I will never be back...nor will any of my family...I walked out of there paying almost $300 for 4 adults and 2 children...absolutely not worth it. Shame on you Gran Centurions....I actually feel the worst for my waitress who was excellent...how many of her other tables walked out thinking the 20% was going to her when in reality, the greedy owner was pocketing it. read more

I was here last year for a friend's wedding reception. I thought the place was nice and the staff let us in early to set up the table decorations. The food was tasty, and really my only complaint was the lack of staff dealing with the bar. The bar space was a bit small and most of the time there was only one person at a time doling out the drinks. For a reception of about 100+ people, the line got pretty long, so you ended up ordering 2 drinks at a time just to save yourself some trouble. So we got married 10-20-18 @ the Gran Centurios/ceremony in the gazebo and reception in the terrace room. First of all Joanne is such a lovely lady to work with, We were so pleased to work with her. I was having issues finding a place since we had a very intimate wedding 35ppl, but Joanne worked with our numbers. Very good prices! I completely fell in love with The terrace room, its renovated- white shiny floors and walls and a beautiful chandelier in the center. It's just such a classy, modern room. Perfect princessy room The Gazebo was decorated very pretty with lights and flowers and the set up was beautiful. Food- was amazing, the Penne vodka is the best- "we had buffet style and the cake was included" Service-was great they are very friendly. Recently we had my fathers repass at the Gran Centurion. I felt the need to write a review because the service we received was exceptional. Given the situation we didn't have a lot of time to plan and we had a limited budget. The owner, Gary worked with our budget and the menu so that we could have a very nice repass that was affordable since we had over 100 guests. The food was great, the staff was pleasant and on top of everything. The venue was clean and the room was very nice. Gary went out of his way to work with us and make things as easy as possible for us given the situation. I can't say enough good things about my experience with this venue. Additionally, for what you get the pricing was extremely reasonable in comparison to other places I called, the food was very good and everything was displayed nicely. I will absolutely be using the Gran Centurion in the future and greatly appreciate all they did for us to accommodate all of our requests. Just had Easter Brunch 3:00 pm seating. Food was cold except for pasta station. Selection was not good. Very disorganized this year. Waitress was good. Mamossas were mostly orange juice. Carving station, pasta station and omelette station were all together creating a bottleneck. Desserts ran out early. They were refilled as we were leaving. Empty platters stayed empty too long. I attended a Holiday Party at the Gran Centurion, food was ok nothing great. The bartender for our event didn't know the difference between tonic and seltzer water, throughout the evening she was only concerned with packing up food from our buffet to bring home. As soon as the DJ started to play music the rude management would come to make him turn the music down (which was not loud by any means) and began to berate our hired DJ. The staff would walk around and take plates even if you were still eating or glasses that you were still drinking from. Will never recommend this place to anyone, really a big waste of time! read more
