Beautifully appointed hotel with excellent service and fantastic location. Very close to both the train station and airport. We booked as part of the AmEx fine hotels and resorts and so we had both breakfast and one nights dinner included in our stay. Breakfast buffet was very lovely offering both typical Spanish breakfast cold cuts and breads and fruit/yogurt as well as eggs (scrambled/sunny side) bacon and sausage. The dinner was hit or miss, we went two nights and once was incredibly busy and the food and service was sorely lacking but the other evening we went, the service was 10/5 stars and the food was phenomenal. They provided a coloring book and a washable stuffed bear that my toddler son could play with and even gave him some free French fries to snack on as we waited for our meal. The foie gras creme brûlée starter was one of the most unique and delicious appetizers we had tried in Spain, it was fantastically prepared. The mains were also impeccably prepared and full of flavor and we were extremely pleased with our dinners. For the location and service and walkable options around the area for tourism I would def recommend.

This is the only Melia property I've stayed at but it's lovely. The red staircase is striking against the traditional Spanish architecture and design. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The bed and pillows were so comfy, I was alone so I didn't mind the two twin beds. I was able to let in some air from a small terrace door that opened up. The breakfast buffet is amazing so get the rate that includes it. They have a Thai massage spa that looked beautiful but I didn't get to try it. They have an adequate gym that I did use, dim lights and zen-like. They offered tea in the gym but no hot water? The only other thing I was missing was an outlet in my room that would allow me to plug the hair dryer in and see myself in the mirror at the same time. So a mirror on the desk provided could fix that, as I like to see what I am doing. However the hair dryer was fantastic for a quick dry!

On a birthday European trip. We were deliberating between this hotel and intercontinental and we are very glad we chose this hotel. Facilities were top notch from the lobby to the rooms but what makes this stands out is the people working here. The receptionist racquel was very helpful and welcoming. She even made a restaurant reservation for my birthday at St. James restaurante, since I was craving for paella and the place did not disappoint. The most classy thing the hotel did was suprised me with a birthday treat of champagne and cake in my room. Thanks Gran Melia for a memorable time in Madrid.

    Dirty door vent.

Like most European hotels, you have limited control over the thermostat. When the heat is on, you aren't able to switch to a/c. As someone who prefers a cooler room temp, this can be solved by turning off the heat and opening the window. The property has a nice gym and there is a bar/restaurant in the lobby. With the WiFi, it is a nice place to have a drink and work in the evening. NH is part of Minor hotel group, and they have a solid rewards program, particularly if you live in Europe. I have used my points to pay for drinks and snacks, and will use them one day to book a hotel when planning a European vacation. As a special touch, the staff always leaves a welcome note and a farewell note. Such a thoughtful bit of customer service!

They had six floors and only two elevators. One of the elevators was broken, so it was tough going up and down stairs. The one elevator working only holds a maximum of six people. The room was very pleasant, except it had twin beds pushed together, which was strange. The bathroom was really nice, but they need a grab bar in the shower. I loved the mirror for make up. The hairdryer was on the heavy side. They should have a newer one that is much lighter. They had slippers in the room which I loved, and also a light that you just touch the top and it gave you really good light. The breakfast was better than most. I love fruit and yogurt and some of the breads were really good. Lots to choose from. They have a small bar And we ended up having gin and tonic's 2 nights. They were made really well and we got snacks with them.. We were close to numerous restaurants and expensive shops.

For context, I booked a reservation, and cancelled the reservation in proper notice. Turns out there was an error and I had two reservations. I did my due diligence ahead of time to email and ask if there were any other reservations in my name and they said no (which I have documentation of) Yet they charged me for my stay regardless. Since charging me, they have been unresponsive despite my months and months of outreach asking for a refund/to rectify this wrongful charge. I hope no one experiences what I experienced and the best way to avoid this is by not booking with them. Don't take the risk.

Comfortable bed, two sinks and a big beautiful shower. There's even a tub in the room. The view was decent - neither good nor bad, facing the main street. The rooftop is awesome. Nice bar, solid views and a fancy pool that I imagine gets busy during peak season (more for hanging out vs swimming laps). We didn't eat here but they also serve food. Super friendly service from everyone we interacted with. Good location as well, on a main street with restaurants and shopping nearby.

Okay minus one for the extremely slow moving elevators but the room was really nice, service was excellent, and the breakfast was chefs kiss! The room was decked out in a beautiful gold with a sofa, table, and spacious bed. Amenities included WiFi, complimentary shoe cleaning, and glass bottles of water daily. The outside view was nice (top of the palace or something), bathroom was spacious with complimentary body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and lotion. There is a coffee machine in the room as well as a small fridge with drinks and snacks priced per item. They had 2 robes in the room, velvet clothing hangers, and the softest room slippers. They have an awesome breakfast buffet, which cost 45 euros each day or about 30 euros if you pay for all days of your stay. The breakfast although stayed the same every day, were all healthy and fresh ingredients from creamy scrambled eggs, thinly sliced jamon and Manchego cheese, to fresh fruits, fresh juices, buttery croissants, fresh honey comb, pancakes, churros, and make your own omelet station. Also right across the street is the famous Prado Museum and The Cooking Clubhouse cooking class. Their service was excellent helping me load-in and load-out my luggage and there's even an indoor lounge and bar. Would come back 10/10, Salud!! :))

It's also only a 20 minute walk to Calle Gran Via which is a very busy street for shopping, shows, etc. Also, there is a Madrid-Metro entry right at the Hotel's entrance so getting around longer distances is quite easy. About a 30 min train ride, if that, to and from the Airport.
