Although the commute was lengthy via Jamaica-179 St Line F with 16 stops; it was a relief and money saver because it connected me to Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street Station where I was able to catch the Q70 LaGuardia Link SBS. Located in a high traffic area next to the MetroTech Center, the subway station serves as a major transit to downtown Brooklyn. I'm not sure if the OMNY (One Metro New York) card machine is always down, but it was surely not working the day I commuted from this station. It resulted in me having to go to a different location to purchase one. I must say that I have never had this experience in Chicago Illinois when purchasing a ventra card to catch the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) train, so I will assume that the OMNY card machine is always down. I am still open to commuting to-and-from MTA - Jay Street - MetroTech because it sits nearest to a hotel I will likely stay at again when visiting Brooklyn. See a concert or a sporting event and leave quick. Crowds when there's an event going on, but it's still not that bad. This also connects to other systems. Busy because there's so many trains stopping here. It serves the B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4, and 5 Trains. This is popular for making transfers. And you certainly have lots of lines to choose from. There's also many busses you can get on. All of these are just the MTA. There's also the Long Island Railroad. Besides the arena is a lot of other stuff around here. There's the Atlantic Terminal Mall. It has every store you care about. There's also many other stores that you care nothing about, so there's just lots of eating and shopping. Of course most use this to get to the arena. There's always some kind of concert or sport every night almost, or there's some kind of convention going on. I find it useful for more than just the Barclays Center. It's also a major transportation hub. There's many trains and systems you can get onto.

One thing I appreciate is that there are elevators, which makes it a good choice for people who need accessible subway stations. That makes a big difference when you are carrying things or helping someone who needs easier access. The station is busy, but that also makes it feel safe, and being right next to Barclays Center and Atlantic Terminal means you can grab food, shop, or head to an event without going far. It is not perfect, since clearer signs would help, but overall it is reliable, accessible, and part of the Brooklyn experience.

Too bad in this train station, I couldn't see the elevator going downstairs to the train platform. Also the ceiling paint is peeling and it is just very old. There was just one elevator going downstairs to the ticket booth and turnstiles. There is also a precinct inside this train station with lot of NYPD ropes all over the entrance. The booth staff was very nice in this train station and helped me open the door for my baby and myself. What generous man he is.

Having my Grandson stay with me in the hotel allowed them the freedom to complete the move much easier. The station, which serves the A, C & G lines, was the perfect way to take my Grandson to school every morning. The G train has a station very near his Elementary School. It was very close to the Hilton, which proved invaluable, especially on rainy days. There was an elevator close to the entrance of the station closest to Schermerhorn. The station was very spacious with a relatively long walk (for me...) to the G train platform. It definitely wasn't a quick sprint & you're there. Hoyt-Schermerhorn does hold a claim to fame as the location of numerous film & television shoots. Notable was the late 70's filming oF "The Wiz" and Michael Jackson's music video of his hit song "Bad". To me the station is the doorway to the many wonders of Downtown Brooklyn and surrounding neighborhoods. I think it must be the center of the world. Thank you MTA for providing a station that has been a great convenience for me over the years.

Even more amazing, it was just $25 for two riders for almost door to door service. Perfect when you are moving books, kitchen supplies and clothes from Brooklyn back to Houston while Southwest Airlines still has two bags for free. (This changes tomorrow!) Book the shuttle on the UBER app. Pick up is at the corner near the Atlantic Terminal. Scan the QR code and then you are on your way. So easy and so convenient. While we were waiting, we met a lady also waiting for the UBER airport shuttle. For one rider, it is just $15. What a bargain!

Today is the first time I used this ticket.. why? .. as you know from previous review there is no L.I.R.R. from Atlantic Terminal to Jamaica from 7.23-8.18. I board the 8:46 am train at Atlantic, the train employee punches my ticket, walks away with my ticket to talk to a colleague and then hands it back to me. I didn't inspect it and put it back in my wallet. Now, fast forward to catching the 2:52 pm train from Long Beach to Atlantic Terminal. The conductor proceeds to tell me that "your ticket has already been punched to Atlantic Terminal." I explained to her all of the above. She looks at me weirdly and says " Good luck going back on your next stop." Wow, great customer service! As if a L.I.R.R. staff member couldn't possibly make a mistake????? Okay folks, this is almost the straw that is going to break my back: -Stopping beach travel on the weekends at the height of summer -Forcing Brooklynites to travel further to Penn Station just to catch a L.I.R.R. - Accusing me of utilizing a " used ticket" I do not know how much worse this can get but I'm sure you will see another bad review next week. I empathize for homeless people however, when the platform is almost desolate it does not make a subway rider feel safe. I'm unsure as to why there were no policemen patrolling the station or the platform as Mayor Adams has put in place. I am not rushing back to this station for a long time especially on a weekend.

Located right down the street from the Barclay's Center it's centered around a lot of shopping and dining spots. Take the 2 or 3 to Manhattan and the Bronx, or the 2 or 3 the other way to New Lots Ave and further down Flatbush into Brooklyn. The station itself is pretty clean considering the amount of traffic it sees.
