Even more amazing, it was just $25 for two riders for almost door to door service. Perfect when you are moving books, kitchen supplies and clothes from Brooklyn back to Houston while Southwest Airlines still has two bags for free. (This changes tomorrow!) Book the shuttle on the UBER app. Pick up is at the corner near the Atlantic Terminal. Scan the QR code and then you are on your way. So easy and so convenient. While we were waiting, we met a lady also waiting for the UBER airport shuttle. For one rider, it is just $15. What a bargain! read more

Well here we go again.. cue "Jaws" theme: Dunnn Dunnn Dunnn.. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse... I purchased a round trip ticket on July 23rd from Atlantic Terminal to Long Beach. Today is the first time I used this ticket.. why? .. as you know from previous review there is no L.I.R.R. from Atlantic Terminal to Jamaica from 7.23-8.18. I board the 8:46 am train at Atlantic, the train employee punches my ticket, walks away with my ticket to talk to a colleague and then hands it back to me. I didn't inspect it and put it back in my wallet. Now, fast forward to catching the 2:52 pm train from Long Beach to Atlantic Terminal. The conductor proceeds to tell me that "your ticket has already been punched to Atlantic Terminal." I explained to her all of the above. She looks at me weirdly and says " Good luck going back on your next stop." Wow, great customer service! As if a L.I.R.R. staff member couldn't possibly make a mistake????? Okay folks, this is almost the straw that is going to break my back: -Stopping beach travel on the weekends at the height of summer -Forcing Brooklynites to travel further to Penn Station just to catch a L.I.R.R. - Accusing me of utilizing a " used ticket" I do not know how much worse this can get but I'm sure you will see another bad review next week. This is a nice LIRR terminal that watched I get remodeled years ago when I worked in the building above. It's generally clean, bright and easy to move around in. Many people use this terminal daily so it is obviously subject to the daily rush of tens of thousands of people. Bottom line is that is a sleek modern design building, the station is clean and functional. The terminal has a Starbucks which is great for some coffee either coming in or going out. I especially like the Wetzel's pretzels. Bathrooms are clean and functional! Lines are not bad comparing to other LIRR stations like Penn which is a HUGE hub for New York. There is a lot of easy access to many subway lines which also add to the convenience of the this station. The station has both ticket machines and a ticket booth. Always good to have a choice. The person who reviewed this as a clean station is laughable. I have been forced to ride the LIRR for a month because I recently went from PM shift to AM shift for my job as an accommodation. Its during rush hour I always catch the 434pm Atlantic Terminal to Ronkonkoma LIRR at terminal 3. I have got to say the LIRR isnt what it used to be. People riding the LIRR during this time have no human decency. A clearly 8months pregnant women gets on the LIRR and noone seems to want to offer their seats on a daily baisis. They all seem to be blind and dumb-foundly shocked. No SIR I am not fat. I'm just pregnant. You blind pieces of shit. I have got to say out of the 30+ days only 2 decent human beings offered their seats. Some people eat on the LIRR and crumb everywhere like dirty fat slobs. No wonder NY transportation have rats and bugs. If you go to Taiwan you're not allowed to eat on public transportation, otherwise you'd get fined. I think this rule needs to be implemented here in NY to keep clean. I wonder if these peoples houses are this dirty. Also I wish people would shower. I can smell all your dirty asses for those who dont keep clean and dont know how to use deodorant. You dirty people! It's... fine. It's the Atlantic Mall, which is the a-hole of Brooklyn (well, one of them). Trains are usually on time, and the track numbers are accurate. There's a bathroom, but I would advise you to go to Target and use theirs instead. Sometimes homeless people there. Can get crowded during rush hour, so plan accordingly. Entire place smells like Auntie Annie's and McDonald's. read more

This is a very busy station due to the LIRR & regular trains, so it would be best to refill your metro card prior to getting to this station just due to the long lines. There is usually a line for the ticket booth as well. The trains do leave on time, which is a good thing. There's a Starbucks upstairs as well as the entrance to the mall that has stores like Bath & Body Works, Verizon, Target, MAC & a Applebee's just to name a few. F.Y.I for all you yelpers, sometime last year I had used my credit card at one of the vending machines to purchase a LIRR ticket(it was one of the vending machines near the ticket agent) & my account was compromised & when I contacted the MTA they stated & I quote "oh this happens all the time" :-| so going forward I only use cash or go to a ticket agent. read more

This is a really busy terminal with a lot of people commuting from long island railroad to Brooklyn or leaving Brooklyn going back to queens or long island you can also get your tickets right there at the machine or at the ticket counter window i have been using the longiland railroad for a lil while now and it is very accessible and convenient to get to Brooklyn from queens with out taking the crowded and slow subway trains.that would take you so much longer to get to Brooklyn from queens if I would take the subway. You save a lot of time .you will make it there in a new York minute back to Jamaica long island railroad station. Were you have access to buses and cabs or even the airtrain or to subway $2.75 and the airtrain fee is $5.00 .the atmosphere was pretty decent in the terminal .and don't forget you can get to Penn station from there really fast . The longiland railroad Atlantic terminal side was pretty clean also I have to admit. So I will definitely use it again in the future read more

This is the Main Terminal from Brooklyn location on the Long Island Rail Road line very similar to Penn Station in Manhattan and I can imagine how the Grand central terminal will be so busy on the Long Island railroad when that opens up in 2022. so if you reside in Kings County - (Brooklyn ) and you have family and friends or work at those destinations that reside in parts of Queens, New York or (Long Island -Nassau or Suffolk County) This is a get go to the downtown Brooklyn area from Borough hall or Fulton street mall and Brooklyn and federal courthouses and there plenty of Colleges and University nearby ( Saint Francis College, Saint Joseph's College, Brooklyn law school, the Long island university, Pratt Institute, and Brooklyn Tech High school etc campus ) the school in the downtown Brooklyn - Fort Greene, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill - area there are considered the upscale neighborhoods of Brooklyn area there plenty of shops there Fulton street mall - City point mall and there Junoirs restaurant the Barclays center and there a shake shack and a chick-fil-a and there the Apple store and there B.A.M- brooklyn acamedy theater, The Atlantic Terminal shopping mall- ( Target stores , Chuckie cheese, Old navy,Shop and stop supermarkets, The guitar center , Best Buy electronics store ,The D.M.V- drivers motor vehicle , Uni qlo, Citibank and Carver federal savings bank and etc shops ) and Modells sportings goods & Whole foods supermarket is located near apple store , and there the famous Brooklyn clock old Williamsburg bank clock tower building which is now converted to a resedential condo i called it the Brooklyn version of "big ben", Brooklyn hospital and Cumberland diagnaostic clinic - Hospital center is near by this atlantic terminal and the Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge and B-Q-E and the Gowanus Expressway is near by this Atlantic terminal . This is the only long island railroad Brooklyn station that is indoor, Nostrand Avenue and East New York are considered outdoor stations but there have weather top covers on the outside platform stations, usually, when I take the long island railroad I take it from Nostrand avenue its much convenient for me to get to my house from the bus, this Atlantic terminal station is not dirty neither its pretty clean and plus there a Starbucks in the station or a Dunkin' shop near the P.C, Richards and Modell's sporting goods store outside the station, so if I'm in the downtown Brooklyn - fort Greene area of Brooklyn I wouldn't mind using this station !!!! very convenient by the MTA transportation: subway: 2,3,4,5,Q,B,D,R,N-Trains. This review is for LIRR Atlantic terminal. It's a super convenient station right on the northern tip of prospect park. It sure beats Penn Station!!! I take the 845 transfer at Jamaica in the morning to the Huntington line onto Hicksville. It's super easy. Abit pricey of peak round trip ticket of 19 dollars but that's NYC! And that's off peak!!! The LIRR station here is actually limestone marble! A musician looking for tips usually plays the violin, so it's actually very relaxing. It's reminiscent of fiddler on the roof in it's genre. There are so many trains back to NYC directions in the afternoon! So no prob. Take LIRR and relax. It's vinyl seat luxury travel!! Frankly there are several destinations that the subway MTA does not reach. LIRR/MTA has a great app online that tells you the schedule, pricing, and purchase the ticket in advance. However, I just go to the machine at the station by the way is actually a less used, open one close to the counter window itself ironically. I attended (overrated) Brooklyn Technical High School from 1999 to 2003. I used to use Atlantic Terminal all of the time. Back then, it was known as Flatbush Avenue Terminal. It was drab and decrepit. Fortunately, it was renovated and now it looks like a mini Grand Central. Atlantic Terminal is overlooked by many LIRR riders who cram into overcrowded trains heading to Penn Station. What they don't know is that Atlantic Terminal is surprisingly convenient. A myriad of subway lines stop at Atlantic Terminal. In fact, there are quite a few parts of Lower Manhattan that are actually easier to get to from Atlantic Terminal than Penn. Recently, the LIRR started offering discount fares, known as the Atlantic Ticket, for travel between Atlantic Terminal and several stations in Brooklyn and Southeast Queens (Nostrand Avenue, East New York, Jamaica, Locust Manor, Laurelton, Rosedale, Hollis, and Queens Village). The Atlantic ticket cost only $5. There's also a weekly Atlantic Ticket which includes unlimited subway and bus rides for $60. In addition to the cheap fares, Atlantic Terminal is also ideal since there are many dining options at the Atlantic Center, which is above Atlantic Terminal. There are also a plethora of big box stores in the area. If you like watching concerts, WWE events, or a JV basketball team known as the Nets then you can head to the nearby Barclays Center. And now for the negatives. The waiting area is way too small, and it's deserted after 9 P.M. Another caveat is that the platforms aren't long enough for most trains, meaning that in order to get off the train at Atlantic Terminal, you'll have to walk through the train to the first 4-8 cars of the train (depending on the specific platform). If you're boarding the train at Atlantic Terminal, only the rear 4-8 cars will open and you'll have to walk through the train to get to the front. I have one more complaint. The men's room often doesn't have soap. I feel bad for the guy who dropped a deuce and then found out that there wasn't any soap. If you're heading to the MetroTech area, Lower Manhattan Financial District, or Chinatown, then I recommend taking the LIRR to Atlantic Terminal and then transferring to the subway. Just be careful at night and bring hand wipes. read more

Maybe a 2.5 would be more accurate. They had no working ticket machines when I was trying to get a ticket for LIRR but the cost from here to other places is the same as it would be from Penn & you don't have to do that mad dash to your train track. The train is actually at the track or you can wait comfortably at the platform for the train. In my book, it's far more convenient not to deal with the stampede & the train actually left here within the time period they claimed it was leaving. The Atlantic Terminal formally known as Flatbush Avenue, is a small and quaint terminal with a lot of connections to both subways and buses.

Definitely a nicer hub than Penn Station, but far from Grand Central, and with much trashier commuters, but could be worse.

I find this station ultra convenient if you work in downtown Manhattan. Almost all subway lines go through here and the 2,3,4 and 5 are easily accessible from the LIRR. The station is fairly clean and the signage is clearly marked which makes moving around the station easy peasy. Definitely recommend Atlantic Terminal over Penn Station any day of the week. read more

Atlantic terminal is great when you arrive on the LIRR you can swipe right into the subway from the platform. It is 100% more convenient then going to penn station if your destination is in lower Manhattan. I also find there to be less delays going to Atlantic terminal then pen station. read more

I was buying a ticket today for Huntington train station at Atlantic Terminal and the lady helped me was very rude I asked her how much a one way ticket would cost ,she answered me ,there was a lot of background noise and I did not hear her properly I asked her to repeat what she said and she said to me are you deaf or disabled I told her none of the above but that if she would speak into the microphone I would hear her better. This was a very unprofessional behavior on her part and can be a cause for a ADA complaint. I am not deaf but do have a hearing problem and it is not her place to assume that someone is disabled unless they specifically state that they are to her . People who behave like that should not be allowed to work with the public read more
