Ok let me start off with I hate gimmicks...I mean HATE gimmicks. Tried this restaurant with family for the very first time last night for a nice valentines dinner. The restaurant is about 40 miles south of NYC, is located in a strip mall and has ample, free parking. The incentive for driving all the way to this venue is that it offers an all you can eat seafood buffet which includes snow crab legs and ginger scallion lobster, which is only available on certain holidays, this being one of them. The price is also very reasonable at around $25 a person. The venue is typical of most all you can eat Chinese buffets, was clean, and allows you to BYOB which they kindly open for you. The restaurant offers a variety of items all of which were VERY GOOD, light and not salty or overly greasy like most buffets. My problem with this location is that we paid a set price for a seafood buffet and barely had any seafood b/c there wasn't enough or the trays were empty after 5 minutes of being placed out. The lobster was served in a super small tray, you had to wait in line for a small portioned bowl, provided to you by staff, and they would run out in 5 minutes and tell you more is being made, which took another 20 minutes...the crab legs were non-existent. I felt like the all you can eat lobster/crab legs was a complete gimmick to get you into the restaurant. Of the items I did try, I was very pleased. I tried the cream shrimp, steak, and stuffed clams as well as various sushi items which were very fresh and delicious. I eventually was able to try the lobster and felt it was good but not great. One tip that could be helpful is to go after the prime dinner hours, after 8pm, bc clearly the restaurant could not keep up with the amount of people that came in during the 6-7 pm shift. I noticed that the lobster was no longer being "guarded" after 8pm bc the amount of people in the venue had significantly decreased. There were still no crab legs in sight though. The restaurant also has a typical dessert section with various cookies and cakes as well as ice cream and fresh fruits. The almond cookies were delicious. Again, don't get me wrong, the food was very good. I just believe if you advertise something you should stick to it. read more

Note: This is really 3 1/2 stars. The reason I went with 3 is because this almost two restaurants, one 4 star, and one 2 star. Let's get 2 star out of the way: on a weekday, the food is often dried out, not replenished, and generally bleh. On a weekend, it becomes REALLY nice, for only like $2 more. The food is as good as it used to be, there's lobster and (if you like this sort of thing, which I do) a Mongoloian barbecue with a really nice chef behind the counter. The staff, regardless of the day, are friendly and helpful. The seafood options make it worth the cost of admission (although you should get the lobster when it first comes out; there are some nice meaty pieces, which enough people know about that they go quickly). read more

The Grand Buffet has always been a go-to for our family and we have been coming for years and years. The food is always fresh and they have a great variety of foods. The hibachi area is awesome. You can pick from a variety of raw meats, veggies, egg, and noodles, then you pick a sauce and they will cook it fresh for you! We also LOVE when they have the ginger scallion lobster pieces. It is so delicious and they refill it very often. They used to only have lobster for special occasions (Father's Day, Christmas, NYE) but they had it on a weekend not that long ago and it was an exciting surprise! OK, I am DEFINITELY a fan! This place is fresh, selections are plenty - and the food is DELISH. Staff was a bit standoffish at first (hence the 4 stars) but they do grow on you after a while. I should know, I've been coming here a while. I DREAM of their seafood selection - really the best around!! Best Chinese Buffet I've even been to. Came for lunch at 3pm on a Friday, and the place was jamming. Lots of ppl for 3pm. I soon found out why. Great sushi bar, widest selection ever. We were really impressed by The Grand Buffet the first few times we ate here in the Pre-COVID Era of American History. The buffet was clean, spacious and had a great selection of different food including Sushi & Wok plates. After visiting recently the menu has been converted to more of an All You Can Eat style and there are noticeably less items to pick from. You circle the food you want on their paper menu and cross your fingers it will be good when it's served, which wasn't the case for the most part. The dining experience and food has significantly declined in quality. Hoping The Grand Buffet makes a full recovery from the uncontrollable issues affecting its well being. read more

Their pork dumplings and chicken on a stick were raw. Brought up to a waitress. Who then showed a manager. Manager claimed the pink color was from soy sauce 2 days marinating. I threw up after and they couldn't refund my seat. They said they'd bring it up to the chef, though. read more

We get seated and drink order taken , the server throws the straws on the table and walks away .. no hi nothing just what are you drinking and tosses the straws . Unremarkable and average buffet. Paid $17 per adult on a Monday night . The food wasn't bad but it was great either . Desert selection was slim, with soft serve (vanilla, chocolate or twist) being the standout favorite . I ate lots of green beans, broccoli and baby bok Choi . While this buffet being quite and calm despite the other reviews, the food was average. And the mood of the place confuses me. It's like they try to be an American Buffet, (with chicken nuggets and garlic bread) and also a regular Chinese food place. But that doesn't have anything to do with the food or staff. Well dressed and they look proper but the waitress did not introduce herself, and instead yelled from across the dining room where we sat asking, "what do we want to drink". When checking out, much confusion about the check, and the guy at the desk as well as the waitress were very rude about the whole situation. (What was even weirder was the guy at the desk was talking to us and while we were mid conversation, he took something out of his mouth and threw it away. Always start with a kettle of hot tea and then an assault on the bars of filled with a wonderful selection of every Chinese food delight, sushi, and a fresh hibachi grill (plus even pizza and nuggies for the little buggers). I never ever do buffets. Not sure why I decided to try it out tonight. Staff was nice. Place was nice and open. Food was less than desired. I actually have a pretty high tolerance for lackluster Chinese, fast-food. Grand Buffet sets a new low for quality (taste). Since Covid, they have closed the buffet (which was ok for buffet food). It's mostly order and dine in or take out. The take out is inedible. I ordered General Tso's chicken for lunch. The General would be turning over in his grave if he knew how bad it tasted. The only reason I didn't rate it lower is because the staff is nice and polite. Go to McDonalds, Burger King, or even White Castle. At least you know what you're getting. We were vacationing in Northern New Jersey, this place was across SR 17 from our hotel. Originally a typical buffet, do to Covid 19 they've updated the system. They now have you sit at tables and pick what you want to eat from a large list, each item is served individually in a small serving size container. Offered sushi also. Pretty good food, good service, clean, very little to complain about here. Nice job Grand Buffet. read more

What can I say... it's like any other typical Chinese buffet. Came here for Father's Day because my Dad likes an all-you-can-eat. Seating is either at a booth or a table. It can seem like a maze trying to get to the buffet if there are a high volume of tables being used. Service is attentive, for being a place where you serve yourself. And the food is average, with no one item standing out as being the best. In addition to the pile of thin napkins on the table, moist towelettes would also be helpful as they offer quite a few eat-it-with-your-hands items. All in all my experience wasn't terrible, but it wasn't spectacular. And they seem to have their share of regulars, so that's gotta count for something. read more

This place was yummy but there were some flaws like how the egg rolls and the gyoza(dumplings) tasted a little raw inside and the sushi was soft and did not taste too fresh. The pork chops weren't very warm but the other foods were. The salt and pepper chicken barely had any meat on it either. Other than the food, the interior is nice, spacious, and seems clean. My family enjoyed the ice cream machine (vanilla, chocolate, mix) and there were sprinkles. The desserts like the mini chocolate cake were a little hard and I'm not sure whether that was on purpose or not. Overall, the food is tasty and edible but not the best. The waitress that was here spoke and understood English and she was polite. I'm not sure who handles the other customers but we had a good experience with our waitress. First, remember that a Chinese buffet isn't striving for a Michelin star. What they give - and what I want - is standard takeout fare in an AYCE setting. I don't live very close to this location, but when my favorite buffet place in Bergenfield closed, I went searching for alternatives. Found an expensive one in Saddle Brook. Wasted my time and money at horrible quality buffets in Lodi and East Rutherford. Then I tried Grand Buffet and found an ideal price/quality balance. At dinner, they offer actual Chinese BBQ ribs on the bone. Love it! The pepper steak is tasty. The rice noodles were excellent. I tried a little of this and that - that's the point, isn't it? When you add up ribs, egg roll, soups plus some entree food, you're definitely getting your money's worth at dinner. I love ending my meals with fruit and soft serve ice cream. The pineapple is fresh, not canned. The cantaloupe was good and reasonably ripe. Grand Buffet definitely delivers what a Chinese buffet should at a reasonable price. if you're a buffet snob I could see why you wouldn't be impressed. we saw some of the reviews and managed our own expectations when coming in for dinner and we were quite pleasantly surprised. it was super affordable for the value that you get. we came for a dinner and adults were around $23 while my child who's 5 was just $8. we frequent buffets ourselves and what we found surprising was the mountain of lobster (cantonese style) was replenished multiple times during our time dining here. they cleaned our plates timely and there was a good variety of choices for dinner. it would have been 5 stars had their wings been up to par (they're not bad, I've just had better), and if their cheesy baked seafood didn't have so many veggie fillers. it just didn't taste like the usual cheesy baked seafood (imitation crab). I would recommend it for anyone traveling thru and just looking for a simple dinner where you won't need to spend an arm and a leg. read more

My wife and I are long time patrons at this Buffet. 1st that everyone needs to remember it is a Buffet. We believe it is the best one around. Fast Forward as the Pandemic has hurt the restaurant like many, they recently re-opened and my wife and family decide we would go out for lunch and support them. This was the first restaurant we have been to in almost a year. We were seated and given a menu that we could order anything "FRESHLY COOKED" and as much and often as we wanted. The actual get up and get your own is not in play during the pandemic. We were not rushed at any point and the waiter was always nearby to take our orders and in a short time bring out our meals. They even had a cart come around with Sushi. Needles to say-we walked out FULL! If you want them to stay in business, please come out and support them more than ever. read more
