The guy loaded them up and I drove off, again very friendly and helpful. My project started two weeks after that. My contractor went to open up the boxes and started to work. When he got to the third box, five out of six tiles were cracked or broken. My contractor told me they should stand by the tile and do an exchange. So I called them to let them know and that I was in the middle of my project and needed another box and that one box was broken, so would I be able to bring these pieces back and exchange for a new box? They informed me that once the tile leaves their store, they aren't responsible anymore! Do they think I enjoyed driving another 30 miles to deal with this in the middle of my project? So I asked I'm supposed to just buy another box with no assistance? She informed me that it was company policy! I asked her to talk to a manager, she came back and said, sorry we can't do anything for you. WOW! Thanks for letting me know you have such a crappy policy and ZERO customer service! I should've shopped at the TILE SHOP! Next time we will be.

We engaged John last November to do knock down ceilings and paint our entire house after he completed a very nice job on a flooring project the year before. This new project did not go well. We discussed and agreed to the project schedule and expectations. What transpired was a serious lack of transparency and management. We were taken advantage of including paying for work that was never done and were told it was, hurried work that required rework multiple times, schedule slippage by multiple weeks causing us to incur additional costs and rescheduling subsequent contractors. John discussed making things right, however we were well past the point of allowing for this to continue and paid for a different contractor to finish the remaining rework. It is a very low stress shopping experience where you welcome to walk around and look. Once we had questions, Kennedy was quick to answer our questions and help us figure out which of our choices were available. You can take home samples but you have to pay for them upfront and then get a refund when returned. Unfortunately between picking tile and getting it installed, one of our choices was on back order. Kennedy walked us through picking a new choice and had some suggestions when we stopped in. Overall it was a great experience!

When the rep did speak with us, his eyes were everywhere, but looking in ours. And when he spoke he was quick to tell us they didn't have what we needed. When my husband asked if he knew about any other shops where we could possibly look, he replied, "I don't know. I don't go to other shops." Hmmmmm. Great job Tile Shop. Perhaps a course on customer service, diversity, and inclusion would suffice. Just a thought. Something I could've kept to myself, but it looks like this place is known for their unprofessionalism. They create some of the most beautiful and unique custom tile-work in the world. 2. I own a salon in NE Minneapolis, which is located down the street from the Mercury Mosaic workshop. Not only are they local (which I love), they are run by the incredible Mercedes. As a female business owner myself, I love supporting other inspiring women-run businesses! I have followed MM on social media for a bit now, and have admired them from afar. I recently expanded my salon, and knew I wanted every aspect of my new space to have a story. Being a small business owner, you often have to prioritize function over esthetic. It was important for me to create a beautiful environment for my team, and our incredible clients, so I reached of to Mercury Mosaics via Instagram and asked if they had any broken tiles, or "remnants" that they would be willing to sell me. I was hoping to create a backsplash for my backbar area, and was planning to do it on my own (now that I understand the intricate process of tile installation, I realize what a ridiculous idea that was...), Not only did they respond, but Mercedes reached out and said she knew of my salon, and had a "crazy" idea. She wanted to help us design, create and install a custom "Steller" mosaic. MM also connected us with local artist, Josie Lewis. Josie's artwork is what inspired my designer and myself when it came to color scheme for this incredible mosaic. Josie is now a Steller client, and we are forever a Josie fan! The gift that Mercury Mosaics gave Steller Hair surpasses any expectation I could ever have had.  This mosaic is a visual representation of community, support and the beauty of connection.  We can't ever repay these incredible people (and I'm a competitive gift giver, so that is very difficult for me..) but what we can do is use this mosaic to share a story of kindness in an often times unkind world.  This mosaic creates an atmosphere and experience for our clients that reflects our mission and values Mercury Mosaics is so much more than a tile company. Mercury Mosaics is a collaboration of real people who are passionate about their craft, clients and community. I will forever be proud to display their beautiful work, and to call them friends.
