We replaced this year existing carpet vinyl with new carpet and luxury vinyl plank, and we can wholeheartedly recommend Bloomington Carpet One (BCO)! Josh was our salesperson, and was tireless, knowledgeable, and patient in working out different options and educating us about the pros and cons. We did some comparison shopping. BCO's good pricing, their responsiveness and promptness, and them doing their own work (not subcontracting) were compelling, so we went with them. After we ordered the work, BCO was able to put the job on schedule within days. The BCO installers accidentally installed the vinyl plank in the wrong area. This error also led to some other issues. When BCO realized this, it immediately acknowledged its error and responsibility, and worked to correct as soon as it could. The BCO installers were back the next day to start addressing the issues, and Eric and another employee even visited the job after their workdays, just to evaluate and determine solutions. Matt (general manager) got involved at the end to make sure that we were satisfied with the resolution. (We were!) However careful a company is, some type of error will happen sometime to that company - that's a fact of life. How the company - and the people at the company - respond sets the great ones apart. And Bloomington Carpet One, through its actions and the actions of its employees, clearly distinguishes itself as a great company! read more

I am hesitant to give a complete four star only because of several issues that arose with the 'first' carpet we had installed. The seam was placed incorrectly in our master bedroom( not the installers fault); the carpet could not be vacuumed with a Dyson and we came to find that out after the fact that would void our warranty; installers were late and never called and hence did not finish the job. On the other hand, I am truly impressed with the Beautiful Guarantee that assured we would not have a hassle replacing what was already installed. I would not hesitate to recommend Carpet One Bloomington but I think it is very important to ask the right questions of the type of carpet you pick vs just color and feel. We looked at a few competitors and I came across Carpet One and thought we would give them a shot. I'm glad that I did! Eric took fantastic care of my wife and I as we went through the long process of finding the right carpet color and quality (even driving out samples for us to look at and mailing us a number of different colors for us to compare). I couldn't believe the prices and the customer care we received from this business. After venturing to the big box stores and the nickel and diming up charges we were quoted, I went home and checked out Yelp. The one review was all it took to get me in the door. We went in and was greeted by Jennifer H., a designer who knows her carpet. Prices were unbelievable and no up charges to do stairs, move furniture and a slight price difference to upgrade the pad. We were offered and mailed numerous color samples in just a few days. The installers came on time, worked quickly, very polite. This process was just too smooth as it should be. We needed fo replaced the carpet in our townhouse under a tight deadline. The initial estimate was provided by Matt (store manager) in minutes over Yelp. Josh came out promptly to measure the place. The final proposal was consistent with the initial estimate. A team of three installers finished the project in one day (as promised) and hauled away the old carpets. The new carpet looks really nice. They checked in with me after the installation to make sure everything is ok. The communication had been great throughout the project. Completely inflexible installation. We were never asked if we needed help moving, and when it came to light that we flat out did not have room in our home to move everything out of a (very large) room we were having re-done, we were basically told "well that sucks" by the installation manager. We had been completely willing to swallow the cost of having the installers shift the furniture (a point even included on our installation prep guide!) However, when they arrived, the installers flat out told me they "didn't have time" to help me shift furniture around in our basement - again, no place else in the house for it. None of this was communicated to us at any point prior to the installers showing up. (Sidebar, nobody called me to let me know what time they would be showing up). The prices were pretty good, and they were willing to go over our vinyl tiling, so I appreciate that. But, flat-out, we don't have the size of a house where we can compress 2/3 of it into the remaining 1/3rd, and nobody communicated to us that this would be an issue. There was no "Ok, we will charge for this but we can take care of it," not, "We're sorry there was a break in the communication chain, what can we do to make it right?" Just "Looks like there were some assumptions you made." (Direct quote by the installation manager). If you have an easy job, Carpetone is probably fine. They'll be in and out in half an hour. If you have anything challenging that might require communication or coordination, look elsewhere. Places like Home Depot advertise free installation, and places like EmpireOne advertise free moving of furniture. If you need any help at all, consider them instead. Edit 1: Communicated with the store manager, Matt, and was told the group would be addressed to ensure better lines of communication in the future, and to ensure that installation part 2 would go more smoothly. I will update my rating and review again pending tomorrow's results. Edit 2: Only one of the two installers showed up - the other called me directly and asked me to basically be ok with stretching out my schedule again, rather than calling his boss. When I called his boss, I was eventually told that nobody else was available to come today, so I get to not live in my house and stay home from work for yet another day. Installation manager's response again was "we're sorry, and this is definitely a difficult situation but it happens sometimes." Yeah, and when it happens sometimes your customers have to miss work and inconvenience others for a place to stay. read more

This company ordered transition pieces for us in August. The "supply chain" issues delayed delivery. Once we received the items, they were not what we agreed to order. We had a disagreement about returns, but eventually, the store agreed to the return. Now, they have our money and the item, they have never refunded my credit card and I am fighting that. They were rude to deal with and have lied to us. Stick with the box stores where a receipt means something! read more

Had a great experience working with Matt and the rest of the team. I needed a carpet cut down to fit a new space, and he worked with me to coordinate that even given a tricky schedule. In the end, the carpet was delivered at the perfect length, right on time, and the cost was actually less than originally quoted. I went to Bloomington Carpet One because of the good reviews on Yelp. Unfortunately, I had a poor experience. The store itself is nicely arranged, the staff was knowledgeable, and the store has a lot of offerings in the higher end carpets I was interested in. They measured my home for carpets, and I asked for samples of a couple of carpets. From that point on, it became an ordeal. When the samples didn't arrive, I called.to try to find out what was happening. My calls were not returned, so I would have to call again. Several times I was told that they would check on things and get back to me, but they didn't. As this process dragged on for week after week, I finally went to Home Depot. By comparison, Home Depot was quick and efficient. This is the first negative review I have ever posted about a business. People are human, and I don't get upset by glitches and errors. Perhaps the staff at Carpet One Bloomington are simply too busy and overworked and doing the best they can. Update: In response to my review, Matt invited me to call him. He listened politely to my concerns and assured me that my experience was an anomaly and that he saw this as a good training opportunity. read more

After little success with a local carpet store we had worked with in the past, we turned to yelp for and read about Bloomington Carpet One. The problem I had with my former carpet store was that they really didn't seem to have the time to talk to me about their product and balked at the idea of coming out to my house to measure. We were replacing all of the carpet in our house and they couldn't be bothered. I met Lyn when I entered the store. He offered assistance right away and heard me when I said I wanted a decent carpet and pad without breaking the bank. He offered to meet me at my house to do a measure and give me a quote. And he was able to help me figure out how we were going to move everything for the install - we split it into two days. The carpet came in when promised, and they were able to install as soon as we were ready. The installers were very professional and did an awesome job. I chose Carpet One because of the great reviews on Yelp! and they didn't let me down. I needed a runner for my stairs and Shelly was super helpful at picking out an affordable carpet. They were also very helpful at fitting everything into my schedule, on a rather tight timeline. There were a couple little glitches on installation day, but they resolved them quickly, happily, and to my satisfaction. I will definitely be using them for future carpeting jobs and highly recommend them as friendly and affordable with good quality and lots of choices. read more

I wear a lot of different hats in life (old expression), so I come as a consumer with a lot of different perspectives and needs when ordering my new carpet, or asking them to repair my exisitng carpet. I order as a busy mom, as a smart consumer and as property manager and homeowner. They cover it all with the customer service and pricing. Let's talk about the installers...I'm in my 50's, and I remember the installers my parents had growing up (nothing to brag about) however BCO installers are almost like artists with what they do with seams, and repairs and butting up to tile, etc....and so polite I might add.
