We're sharing…read moreour experience so that other consumers do not find themselves being taken advantage in the way that we have been. Tile by Design does not disclose either in writing, verbally, or on their website if specific tile is special order/non-refundable. When we placed the order for our tile, we specifically asked if the 10% overage in square footage was returnable. A Tile by Design employee told us that it was in fact returnable. Additionally, none of the paperwork we receive, including the receipt, said that the tile was special order/non-refundable. After receiving the tile, we discovered that it was full of scratches, divots, pin holes, air bubbles, and chipped edges. When attempting to return the tile, they would not accept. They told us the only way we could return the tile was if we paid for a shipping and restocking fee, which resulted in 40% of the overall purchase. We even offered to share the return costs by suggesting 20% each and they refused. Their lack of integrity for both the quality of their product and treatment of their customers is unacceptable. We encourage all consumers to take your business elsewhere.

Then when the cabinets arrived they did not match the order specifications in color, style or dimensions. Because the island did not have align with existing cabinets the corrected the door style. However they were no able to correct the color, style or demensions of the other 3 cabinets. They stated I should return them for refund. Lance they finally picked them up 4 weeks later, the only credited me less that half the cost. Communication responses are slow they state they are working on it. We were looking for a more high-end, custom type of tile - wavy glossy charcoal tile to work for our shower renovation. We couldn't find what we were looking for online at other tile stores or at Floor and Decor, so decided to stop in here. Their tile variety is nice, and they definitely have some more modern, elevated types of tile! I was impressed with some of the styles. The shopping experience is mostly on-your-own: they have the tiles all displayed at eye height, and some samples below it. There are a few salespeople / admin team members stationed at a few desks with computers in the middle of the store, but found that they didn't approach me, so if I had questions or wanted to purchase I needed to go to them - like it was a check out counter. Staff is a mixed bag - some helpful, some not so happy to be there. The tile is certainly not cheap, but that's what you get for more luxe looking stuff I guess! I was a little bummed they didn't have what they had on display in stock, but what I ordered only took about a week to arrive in store. When I needed a few more boxes, they helped me reorder again - and again a week. However, they helped me get it shipped to their other location so I could get it a day sooner. They also took back my two unused boxes for refund. I liked the variety of quality options here and appreciated how what they stocked differed from other places!

If you are going to be doing anything that will require a sizeable amount of lumber, come here. You'll save a significant amount of money. Even a red cedar 4x4x10' will be $20 less than what you'll get at Menards or Home Depot. And that is just on one piece of wood. Plus, it feels like they take care of their employees as I see some of the same people and this is from shopping here multiple years. There are other things offered here that are from different manufactures too like doors, interior hinges, etc.
