My mom accidentally took my dog Molly here for a nail trim instead of Bubby Paws and we definitely regret it. Not only did Grand Groomers cut my dogs nails so short that they bled in multiple places, they sent her away without stopping the bleeding so when we came to pick her up, she bled all over our white leather seats. We took her back and pointed it out but come on, this is your only job. If you're gonna make my dog bleed; stop the bleeding. It's common sense! Clearly Grand Groomers lacks all common sense. I brought my dog, who's very anxious about being groomed, to Grand Groomers for a walk-in nail trim. I told them she had issues and had been barred from two other groomers. After successfully clipping her nails, I asked if they'd be willing to try grooming her, on the condition that they could call me if she misbehaved and I'd come back right away to get her. When I went back a couple hours after her first appointment, she had the best groom she'd ever had. I asked how she behaved, expecting a litany of complaints. The groomer said, Well, she did growl at me when I first started grooming her. So I said: Knock it off!! And, after that, she was perfect. There are usually three people working there. They manage to keep the atmosphere calm and business like. My dog's been groomed by two of the people who work there and has had her nails trimmed by all three, with no problems. I think this is a good fit for any dog who's at all nervous about being groomed. read more

My terrier has had only great haircuts from David, who somehow manages to get my terrified, wriggly dog through her non-relaxing "spa day". He truly listens to what finished product we want, and takes the time to do a thorough job. When I pick her up she looks like a little puppy rockstar! I will admit we had one bad experience when a different groomer did her trim who only took half the time David usually does, and I had to spend another hour at home fixing her up because she looked worse than when I used to do her trims myself (she had ridges in her coat from the clipper, it was super uneven, and her face/paws/legs looked like they had barely been trimmed at all - it felt like I had wasted my money). Well, my one year old Teddy Bear pup got a hair cut. Yep... cut! I said puppy cut with a round face (she didn't ask.. I had to offer this info) He got a flat top... and simply looks ridiculous. (4 weeks later) he has now grown out... looks cute. I don't like the "mysterious wall" in their reception area. Where did they keep Jax? Where did they bathe him? Is he in a crate? A room? Are there other pups to sniff? Will I go back? Probably not. There was no communication when I showed up... like even Hello! I really do like this groomer's service for nail clips for our beagle. The caveat for me is how infrequently they are open, even during posted hours. I typically will take our beagle there on a Saturday and there's a 50/50 chance they'll be open. It's a huge inconvenience to drive there when they're supposed to be open only to find the door locked and the lights out. I would call first but usually the call goes to voicemail anyway. If you can catch them there they do a fabulous job. read more

My dog daycare can spot a Grand Groomers haircut by sight because the cuts all wind up looking the same. If you want your dog to come out with skinny legs and a big round head, this is the spot for your beloved companion. If you have specific instructions go elsewhere because Grand Groomers will forget what you requested the second you leave your dog with them and walk out the door. Well, our first professional grooming of our old 17 year old girl, and we could not be more pleased. She has never looked this good, and her old coat has a silky shine and is softer to the touch. She was returned to us after 3 1/2 hours, calm as could be, and with a colorful kerchief tied around her collar. My mom always took our two Shih Tzu's to GG when I was growing up so when I got a Shih Tzu of my own I started taking him there. I always had a great experience but when we moved, I tried out some other groomers thinking I would have a similar experience. I have been to Petco in Highland, West St. Paul, Wendy's dog house and Pets Plus in S. Minneapolis. None of these places even come CLOSE to the quality of cut that GG provides for the price. I paid the same amount at Petco and ended up taking my dog back after my boyfriend picked him up because his cut was not what I asked for/uneven. Pets Plus tried to charge me for cutting the hair inside my dogs ears which is something GG does standard. Wendys Dog House was great but was $20 more for the same grooming. I am someone who likes my dog's cut to last I think GG's is the best place for that. They know that when I say "go short all over" that means "get him as short as possible so I dont have to come back any time soon". Also not sure about the other review that said the GGs cut is a round head and stick legs. I told the groomer last time to cut my dogs face short and they did a GREAT JOB following instructions. read more

Took my rescue Chinese Crested (read: nervous and shy) to be groomed here and they did wonderful. He was super happy when I picked him up and he looked great. He looked like a Chinese Crested finally and not a weird looking poodle (sometimes groomers just don't know what to do with him). He's a hairy hairless so pretty much hair all over. I have to tell you a little story of why I gave them a one. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly man which was a groomer and made an appointment for two day later which was a Friday. With the news of the Corona Virus that day with shut downs off all sorts of schools, work from home, and travel bans. My friend was going to fly in a late Thursday and I was to pick her up. And Friday she was going to take my fur baby to Grand Groomers while I was at work. As soon as I found out her flight was cancelled I call and left a lengthy explanation of why I needed to cancel my appointment on such short notice. Ask for a return phone call and to see if they could possibly get me in on Saturday. So I left a long message, texted them also( wasn't sure if it was a cell Phone). And would have emailed them also but no email on their business card. Since I have to leave home for work at 6 am. I called the groomers again this Friday to explain again why I had to cancel, asked to have an appoint Saturday. In which was another lengthy message. I offered to pay in full for my missed appointment and was to pay in full for the Saturday appointment also. So two phone calls and a text from me. Apologizing for my missed appointment and to see about a future appointment. No return phone call from the groomers either day. Now I'm writing this review late Saturday afternoon ( which is 4:24 pm). I have been self Employed for over 30 years. I know what it's like to not have an appointment show. It's costly and annoying. We used to live in the neighborhood and then moved to wisconsin several years ago. now we by-pass the dog groomers in Hudson, Woodbury and all the ones along I-94 to get to our beloved grand groomers. I took my two dogs to the groomers for a span of six months. They were never nice and always rude on the phone. All of the reviews were so great I wondered if They were just having an off day. My last visit we asked for the cocker cut, they shaved my beautiful Cocker Spaniel without calling me. Sometimes if dogs have mats they will ask if we will pay extra to comb them out. Or cut portions to keep the rest long. I would expect a call before shaving a dog like this. I will never go back there. read more

This was the first time we took our 2 chocolate labs and the last time! The wash was ok, but I'm not sure they brushed them out as there was a lot of loose hair still on them when I picked them up. Also they cut one of the nails too short and it bled which i know can happen. However when you fail to tell me about it and then when I call to ask about it they lied to me. They said it can start bleeding when it gets scratched from walking and they didn't know about it but were sorry and I could bring them back for some antiseptic powder. I said you already put powder on it so you must have known about it!!! Of course more excuses!!! I definitely don't recommend a business that can't be honest with its customer. read more

We were customers of grand groomers for years. For the last few years, the haircuts got worse and worse and the prices kept going up. Our Westie used to get beautiful haircuts, but the last few were terrible. They completely buzzed our dog without trying to cut his hair into a desired cut.
