Beautiful reception room with Italian motif. Gorgeous floors, beautiful Italian furniture and vases. Our room was a suite with two balconies, and a picturesque view of the sea and Mt Vesuvius. Our room felt secluded and private. Beautiful and comfortable sofa and chairs in the room with all the bathroom amenities you would want. We would love to come back and spend more than the four nights we were there! I would highly recommend the hotel installing some safety features in the shower, as it is very slippery and there are no rails in the shower to hold on to. I would imagine someone has probably slipped. The breakfast was enjoyable and relaxing, the omelet maker girl was very nice! We really enjoyed walking the grounds including the cave to the waterside. It was a beautiful pool and very relaxing with drinks. I would also recommend the hotel accommodate travelers who would like to mail a post card and do it for them. Most hotels will mail it and even put the postage on the card. I would also recommend water to be handed out at the concierge or lobby desk for NO CHARGE. We had to pay 7 euros for one large bottle. We have stayed at other hotels and they just ask how many boxes of water we would like. This hotel is close walking into town, we would definitely go back! read more

Great great view. Nice sized rooms, plush lobbies, lemon and orange trees, pool, jacuzzi, lifeguard availability. Most amenities that we Americans would want. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My brother and I stayed here for four nights. If you book private tours you will enjoy your stay even more. A complete breakfast was included in the deal. Remember, if you're price sensitive, please check where you are: you're in Sorrento, and during the season, May thru October, price are higher as expected. read more

You wont find a spec of dirt in the entire place, which is phenomenal. Beautiful property. Pool, ocean deck, inside, everything. Truly the property is Second to none. When you request something from the front desk, it comes within minutes, worst case. Mario and Lorenza are an absolute pleasure to be around. Both of them light up a room with there positivity. Give them both a raise, big time. Salvatore - interesting cat. Looks and acts absolutely miserable. Hes an older dude, so i get it, hes toward the end of his career, doesnt give a shit, etc. If he smiles his face would crack. This hotel couldnt replicate the show White Lotus more if it tried. Head statues everywhere, same lounge chairs, unneccesary creepy shit all over the place, etc etc etc. Whatever you do, do NOT order a steak. They couldnt cook it to save there life. Very unfortunate considering its a $100Million dollar property. 4 stars. read more

Wow! This is one grand hotel. I'll start with the location. Situated on a cliff a few hundred meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea, there are views of a beautiful seascape, piers, Mt Vesuvius, and la isola di Capri; breathtaking especially at sundown! The front of the hotel is right on the Main Street but the rear is where the attraction begins. You'll see a gorgeous array of palms and all sorts of semi tropical flora that leads to the aforementioned cliff. Seating and outdoor dining are also there. Fantastico!! Our room was plush with many amenities including rear French doors leading to a veranda with a great view. Staff and concierge services were top notch. Breakfasts were most enjoyable. Every conceivable continental breakfast item was available. The pool was very nice too with its own bar and gelatoteria. A most enjoyable stay! read more

I'll start with the good. Hotel has a friendly and efficient staff, nice and clean rooms, an excellent pool (though I wish it was closer to the view) and even a fun beach (small, rocky that you take an elevator to but nice to lie there and watch the ferries). If I just stayed there and did not venture into the restaurant, five star experience. Unfortunately, for some reason I do not remember, I went with half board and regretted it. Breakfast was your typical high-end buffet, omelette station and lots of pastries. Normally it was good but one morning my wife had smoked salmon that she stopped eating after a couple of bites due to a strong fishy taste, for the next four hours she was dealing with stomach issues. The dinner was the true disappointment. Even in the smallest restaurants in Italy, food is great. Here, I started dreading going to the dinner. They seemed to have a special menu for half board. In general, it wasn't great but the true disappointment was the preparation, especially the mains (the starters were good). The first night I had pork and it was dried out with no flavor. The second night I had gnocchi with tomato sauce (how can an Italian fail on gnocchi) and it had a bad flavor and chewy texture. Frozen gnocchi would have been an improvement. The third night we went out because I could not face the restaurant again. The restaurant did have great service, especially Luca who was both personable and efficient. As I said, everything else in the hotel was great but the food left a bad taste in mouth (sorry). read more

This hotel was such a delight! You cannot tell from the exterior but once you are inside and see the expansive grounds - WOW! Hard to believe how much outdoor space they have. Tons of outdoor seating, a huge pool, and a beautiful, large private sun deck over the water with chaise loungers, umbrellas, and bar service. I had a seaview deluxe room (the "orange & red" decor) and it was spotless. A/C worked well, and LOVED the Etro bath products. Housekeeping was efficient daily, and the food was good. (Only complaint is the service during breakfast was overwhelmed and slow)....but maybe that's a symptom of the pandemic. Also - I had been in Italy for a week prior to my arrival, but the hotel still required a negative Covid test in order to check-in. I did not know about this requirement- but the hotel arranged a rapid test on property same day at no charge; so all good! (They also offer departure rapid testing at a cost of 28 euros - which I thought very reasonable The hotel is a 12 minute walk to Sorrento's main drag where all the shops and restaurants are. My wife found this hotel for our stay in Sorrento. The location came highly recommended from several travel sites. We were not disappointed with our stay. The check in process was flawless. The hotel property was beautiful with plenty blooming plants and awesome views of the water. If you enjoy a big breakfast, I recommend you stay on property and enjoy the hotels. It's for 7am - 10am. The hotel room size is typical to many European hotels, smaller than those you might be use to in North America. The location is a 10 minute walk from the train station straight down the street. The city center and shops are another 10 minute walk out and to the right of the hotel. The marina is also close if you plan a day trip to Capri. We really enjoyed our stay at The Grand Hotel Royal. read more

I have to say, that I'm a little conflicted about the review of this place. On one hand, the location is Central in Sorrento with a nice Oceanview and very close to the bus stop where many tours leave from. The Decour is nice and we had the free breakfast buffet which was above average. The rooms were just OK for the price but I have seen much better in Europe. I think you were paying for the location rather than the nicety the room. Our room had a balcony which could be seen from basically everywhere in the hotel from all the other balconies and someone could climb over the small railing between the balconies into your balcony so you must lock your doors. The hotel staff was generally nice but they charged me a lot of money for a car to the Naples airport. Also they had very poor information on the tours to Capri and Pompeii. The concierge really push group tours over private tours and they get a nice cut of the money. They also made us pay in cash which was very inconvenient. read more

We came here by accident and was pleasantly surprised with the view. My wife and I came here as customers of the restaurant which is located in the back of the hotel. This review isn't about a hotel stay but just about their restaurant and their customer service there. The restaurant was a hidden gem and there weren't many people there at all, but it was a bit on the pricier side, but for a view? I thought the price was worth it. Dining in Sorrento and overlooking a nice sea view, I'm sure there are many options but this has got to be one of the better ones, with no or a little crowd, it was just people dining there and plenty of tables to spare. The staff didn't really speak much English but enough to get by. They were courteous and helpful. I would come back here if I were in the area. read more

The hotel surpassed our expectations, and we would have given it 5 stars, but the air conditioning could not be turned on because, according to the hotel, it was too early in the season and programmed to heat only. Keeping the door open would have been fine, but it was too loud with construction. Moving past the only negative aspect of our stay, the room was exceptional; clean, beautiful, comfortable. What more can you ask for?!?! We did not get a sea view during our stay, but were able to enjoy a nice view of the lemon groves across the street, and the gorgeous view during our down time near the pool. The staff was extremely kind and welcoming. They even arranged pick-up from the train station in Naples and export to our next hotel in Positano for us. The breakfast included in our stay was fantastic! Made to order omelettes are always a plus! I would highly recommend staying here if you would like to enjoy a stay in Sorrento with a beautiful view, and just a short walk to the beautiful downtown streets for shopping and fun. read more

When I arrived, the man at the front desk was rushing to get me through although there wasn't anybody else in line or in the lobby. It was ridiculously unwelcoming and disrespectful. Later on that night I called five minutes after the kitchen closed for some food and they would not accommodate me with anything so I ended up having to grab crappy food from the mini bar. The next day I called to have an iron sent up and the lady told me they only have a laundry service for an additional price. These are simple amenities that should be in every hotel for $165 a night. The decor is all old and falling apart. The rooms are just average. It's a great location and it looks good from the outside, but the inside is nothing special and the staff has not been friendly. Weird because this place has 4 stars on yelp and trip advisor. I guess people don't know what a real 4 or 5 star hotel is. I would be cautious. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this Seaside property. My kids and I happened upon the hotel while walking though Sorrento and the front desk manager made us a good offer for a sea view room. The room included breakfast as well as afternoon snacks. The view from our room (519) was spectacular, we could see Mt. Vesuvius in the distance as well as watch the locals dive (I assume for mussels). The pool area is beautiful and the staff was very attentive. Do yourself a favor and stay here while in Sorrento. read more
