The tasting room inside looks like it's still under construction so we were surprised to learn that the location has been open for more than a year. It consists of one large room with most of it blocked off and mismatched chairs in front around a coffee table. Also, there is no bathroom for patrons to use (kind of a problem if you want to sit and drink wine for any length of time). Not the most comfortable setting to bring a group. A homeless guy came in and asked us a question while we were tasting. The tasting list was short but we liked the two dry red wines a lot in terms of quality. The server was not knowledgeable about wine at all but was attentive.

Landon Winery was near by and we stopped in. The place is big but with that small town, historic vibe. Very relaxing atmosphere. I got a glass of Tempranillo and she had a frozen "Swirl" - a blend of peach and sangria. That was good. My glass was excellent. They have a nice food menu as well. We'll come back when we're not full from "brunch". You can get drink to go as well - I guess the city is good with sip-n-stole. Service was outstanding. What actually prompted me to come here today was my disappointment with 903. I had gone there with my wife for their Oktoberfest and to pick up a collectible stein and again, even though I got there much earlier, they supposedly were already sold out even though for the whole 45 minutes to an hour that I was there, I kept seeing other people being given Steins, but that's gonna be on my 903 review. This is all about Ivanhoe. So after leaving Sherman disappointed, we decided to hit Main Street liquor to pick up some Buffalo trace which is pretty much hard to find everywhere around here. After that, my wife had suggested we check out Homestead winery. We walked in through Ivanhoe and were pleasantly surprised with the fact they were doing Oktoberfest as well and had a really nice decorated brew hall. The ladies were dressed to impress and very politely offered me a stein, and I did a double pour of their Märzen. It was so much better than the one I had just had not even half an hour ago down the street at 903. That one was watery and flat tasting, this one had all of the hints and notes of a good solid Märzen. I was very impressed with it and also their level of service. Very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately we have missed the Oktoberfest band, but we did stick around to catch Van Ulrich in the evening, ended up staying there for several hours and drinking more beers and wine from their neighbors. I also tried their peanut butter stout which I also found to be delicious. 2 for 2! I believe we were helped by Anna. She was really friendly and even sat down with us for a bit. The whole time we were there, we felt like we were in someone's house as friends sharing a drink, which is the feeling that all brew and wineries, no matter how big or small, should strive for. Went back to the bar side to wait again, and eventually got fed up and left altogether. Now I'm not sure if we would give it another chance.
