Had a quick stop for lunch at this place and it was good. The place was nice and not busy and our server was friendly. I've ordered the Grand Pub Fat Burger and it was okay, the pork belly was a bit gummy but overall tasted good. The Clam Chowder was good, has a lot of mixed seafood it it but I wished it was more hotter as I was craving for soup after 3.5 hrs long drive. Food was spectacular. I had the single Yorkshire pudding stuffed with bits of roast beef and then a side of mashed potatoes and gravy! YUMM-O!!! I was full! Too bad this was a road trip thru Merritt because now I want this all the time! Service was great and attentive. The Decor is a casual bar and clean. On the road from Vancouver to Clearwater and wanted some tummy filling food for lunch. We stopped at the Grand Pub in Merritt as it was easy parking, right on the main highway. It's very casual and chill. They have an extensive menu and everything looked good. I ordered the Seafood Chowder and my hubby ordered the French Dip. The chowder was perfect and came with garlic bread on the side. My husband was less impressed with the French Dip as the meat was tough. Bit his side salad was fresh and tasty so he ended up happy. Just wanted something simple and a ice cold glass of beer! Our very friendly front desk person at our hotel recommended the Grand Pub & Grill in downtown Merritt. A short drive from our hotel and we are there, enter into a very local pub atmosphere and was great!! Our server greeted us and told us to seat wherever we wanted, after settling in and ordered our Alexander Keith's we proceed to order, found out that Tuesday is BBQ Rib night! You get 1/2 rack of BBQ Ribs, Caesar Salad, Baked Potatoes or Fries for $9.95!! The ribs were so tender, the meat were falling off the bones, the BBQ sauce was just right not too tart or sweet. We were impressed by the food that we ordered a soup if the day: Beef Barley Soup; this is a meal in itself! Stayed in Merritt for a few days filming a movie. Had wonderful dines here with coworkers. Lots of beers and juicy eats. The Cajun sandwich has is juicy but not too spicy. The short rib is tender and has some decent fat on it. Recommend the Bad Tattoo if you'd like to drink local. read more

I had high hopes for this place after reading the other reviews, but there really isn't anything worth mentioning about this place. The service isn't all that fast, and the wait staff is too busy talking to each other to help their customers, or they'll be so focused on their regulars (which I do understand) that they ignore everyone else. I had the bacon cheese burger. I couldn't get it lettuce wrapped, but I won't hold that against them. The bacon was fine, but the patty itself was so underwhelming it was sad. No seasoning, no spice, nothing to differentiate it from any other burger place. The food wasn't bad? But it sure as hell wasn't exciting or left you wanting more. read more

Grand Pub is a friendly neighborhood place with a variety of reasonably priced menu options. We split the Cowboy Kiss salad, which had greens, grilled onions, mini mushrooms and acallops. Really great! We also had the Grand Yorkies, which are Yorkshire Pudding popovers stuffed with roast beef on top of mashed potatoes and gravy. These were really good but would have benefitted from fresh rare roast beef instead of typical diner-quality beef. Our waitress was as friendly as can be, and we can't complain about the prices. Stopping in the tiny town of Merritt, we found ourselves in need of some hearty comfort food and the Grand Pub presented itself to us, and we decided to take advantage of some small town charm. This pub is pretty interesting, with daily food and drink specials and an environment that crossed somewhere between dive bar, country sports bar, and casino. The casino part was because they actually had pull tab and some sort of lottery gaming system available in the restaurant. After losing a handful of dollars on these games, we settled into a wood booth and attacked the menu. Drinkwise, the beer selection is pretty sad. All big brands like Budweiser and Coors, not a single local beer to drink on offer. That said, I took advantage of their margarita special which was clearly a frozen drink mix but at least had a decent amount of tequila in it. We also polished off some reasonably priced pints of Sleeman Honey Brown which were also on special. Food wise, we ordered a bunch of things. I had the meatloaf which was served on mashed potatoes with corn and bread. It was really nothing special, the meatloaf was pretty dry and the mashed potatoes were clumpy and not very good until smothered with gravy. No one else really had anything too impressive to say about their food either, but no one seemed disappointed in anything aside from the garden salad which was a sad mix of greens and tomatoes past their prime. Everything was reasonably priced though, so while not impressive, it was indeed A-OK by my Yelping standards. The one thing I will say, is that the place had some of the friendliest servers that we came across during out trip. Any mediocrity of food was offset by the friendly server and bartender who we engaged with during our visit. read more

We split our time between Merritt and Vancouver and we were looking for take out, but were on the fence based on mix reviews. Our take out experience was great. COVID THUMBS DOWN. Spent a week on the road and visited a different place to eat each day. Was very impressed with most and the measures they were taking to protect their customers.The grand pub & grill was terrible as far as covid protocol. Yes they had an enter and exit door and sanitizer as well as a clip board to put name and number but as we sat near entrance door many people not only didn't sanitize they never put there name on clip board. They walked in sat themselves down and I personally watched our waitress put her fingers to move 4 wine glasses, made our drinks and brought them with her fingers on rim of our drinks. No masks no self distancing as people seated themselves and no measures to protect customers. I could only imagine kitchen protocols. could go on about other incidents but that would be a long list. Not exactly my idea of a great place to eat. My burger was half cooked and when I sent my pink sloppy beef back to the kitchen I herd the cook yelling that if they didn't like his food perhaps we should have stayed home. Completely unacceptable and the waitress looked like she had been up all night and day and smelled of booze. The food is over priced, staff is sloppy and the food is something to check over. I have been here once before and the experience was just ok. Nothing special. Today I tried again because the Home Cafe had a line up. The place was barely half full on the music festival weekend. That should have been my first clue. Our server walked past several times without acknowledging us. She finally brought menus and came back a few minutes later for drink orders. After about 5 minutes of her walking past our table without eye contact, I flagged her down to take our order. It seemed she was pre-occupied with other patrons that she obviously knew. As I sat waiting for our food I witnessed the bartender making a couple of delicious Caesers in large beer glasses. When our server came by I asked her if I could get one. She ended up bringing me one in a small glass. When I questioned her about it, she informed me that you have to order it in a beer glass. I asked if it was the same price and she stated it was. Then she stared at me. She didn't offer to get the drink re-made or if I still wanted it. Clueless. It seems if you are not a local you don't matter. I won't go back.
