My kids doctor failed to sign the pain med prescription after surgery. When the pharmacy called the office, the doc's office told the pharmacy to page the doctor. By the time I realized what was happening and started making calls, the docs' office was on lunch. The lunch service said they'd contact the doc. Because it was now it was time for my kid's pain meds, I asked what I was supposed to do, and the lunch service said they didn't know. They were just a receptionist. I called the doctor's office again and the triage line was busy. It was now 30 minutes after the time I was supposed to give pain meds, so I called the scheduling folks. Tanisha was AMAZING and actually started the process of getting the doctor to sign my kid's pain meds. The problem now is that all the pharmacies were closed for lunch. The doc office had no solutions for how to control my kid's pain and the office manager got snippy with me when I asked. This is an absolute failure of a medical practice. In addition, my daughter is also a patient of theirs and on the first day of her surgery, I had questions regarding a prescription the take home pages said she needed but hadn't been called into the pharmacy. Most unprofessional despicable doctor's office I have ever dealt with. Jordan the surgery scheduler is a joke. Voicemail is always full. Took 5 months to schedule my son's surgery and now they won't without another appointment because they ignored me for 5 months and failed to do their job. Dr. Azkoul and his staff are trash. Don't go to Grand Rapids ENT!! TLDR: Several visits here. Long wait times for appointments. Had a horrible experience with Dr. Kevern. If I could do it all over, I'd go somewhere else. This place really isn't that good at all. First off let me say that I am writing this review for the sole purpose of showing people that these are the things that I went through. I'm not trying to attack anyone or anything like that. I was referred to Grand Rapids ENT by my PCP for chronic pansinusitis and congestion. These were known problems that I had been dealing with my whole life. After many years of fighting, I decided that I would trust Grand Rapids ENT and Dr. Kevern with providing excellent care for my issues, or so I thought. At first she was amazing. Until she started acting arrogant. I told her my septum was deviated. She said it was straight and was about to send me away with just sinus rinse and budesonide. My gut didn't feel right about that so I asked for a CT scan. She acted like she didn't even want to try but after a brief moment she looked up my nose and saw nasal polyps in both nostrils and initiated the CT scan. The results came back and showed my septum was bowing heavily to the right. Was there any apology like, "Sorry about that, you were right." Nope. She isn't like that. She hates it when other people prove her wrong. And that's one thing I don't like about her. She also performed extra procedures on me at the surgical center without my consent and she didn't have them prior authorized by my insurance company. That made me really upset. Where's the trust? The professionalism? Dr. Kevern struggles with being a good leader. She told me what to do and changed it over and over. For example, I got told to saline rinse 3 times a day for 3 weeks. It changed to 7 times a day, then UP TO 7 times a day, then back to 3 times a day. Dr. Kevern's answers sometimes don't specify enough. For example, I asked her how long to use the ice pack for, she said 20 minutes. If you ask 10 people around you what 20 minutes means, some may say: 20/20 rule, 20 minutes for the whole week, 20 minutes for the whole recovery process etc. She never specified. Dr. Kevern embarassed me in the 1st post op appointment. I was very mad about the recovery process because it felt like I wasn't getting the help I needed and asking questions only led to Dr. Kevern changing her answers. This drove me crazy. I spent all that money on a surgery and zero support during recovery. When she came into the room, she got within 5-10 feet of me and said, "Oh, look! He looks mad, haha!!" I will never forget that. That comment hurt me so much. And to laugh at a patient! She just humiliated me in front of the younger woman on the laptop. Did I just get bullied by Dr. Kevern? Yes. Completely uncalled for! She never apologized for that. And throughout the whole recovery process she never called to check up on me to make sure everything was okay. That also hurt. Not even a simple 5 minute, "Hey how's everything going so far?" Nothing. Didn't even care about me at all. I had a discussion about the turbinate reduction surgery, prior to having it done and she never mentioned anything about empty nose syndrome. Had I known what that was beforehand, I never would've gotten it done. I asked her about it afterwards and she believes that the technique she learned where she shaves a little off the sides of the turbinate makes it impossible to get ENS. Google: Can you get ENS from a turbinate reduction surgery. She was wrong again. Countless stories all over the web about lives being ruined by the same surgery I just got. She didn't even try to warn me. No technique is safe and the risk is always present. Which leads me to my next point, Dr. Kevern will not fully prepare you and you will run into things on your own and you have to ask her questions or google the answers. I had no idea what scabbing or crusting was. I had to ask her several days after the fact. Which is so inconvienent and frustrating. read more

I don't even know where to begin. Dr. Artz is terrible. He is arrogant and wrong. DO NOT SEE HIM. He said basic things that were factually wrong (that tinnitus is never an ear issue), he prescribed medication that could cause me issues due to another ongoing condition he was very aware of, and dismissed any concern about it, again saying things that weren't true. He spent more time lecturing me about the need to tell everyone I know to get the v4x than he did trying to give me actual information about my situation or trying to diagnose the cause. There are two likely causes, and one he was dismissive of because it hasn't been proven in all sorts of trials. Nevermind that the NIH website has papers discussing the issue, and there have been studies done discussing the very issue he handwaves away. While he was very unwilling to discuss anything that wasn't FDA-totally-100%-approved-always-true-for-everyone-everywhere, he nonetheless told me I could try ginkgo (no studies proving it helps) and, of course, that I should push the v4x (known to cause long-COVID symptoms in some, won't have finished its trials until 2023). Then, my time-sensitive prescription was not called in for two days. I called on the third day, and it took them hours to get back to me. A week after my symptoms, I hope to be able to start my medication which is supposed to be started ASAP after onset. Thanks for doing a great job, Grand Rapids ENT! To top it all off, they CENSOR REVIEWS. Their website only lists highly positive reviews, but calls them "recent" reviews. No, they're "selectively chosen" reviews. They also intercept your negative review and trick you into sending them a direct message instead of a review. Only in small print at the bottom are you made aware that you actually need to click another link if you choose to leave a review, and in that case, it just goes to Facebook or Google (and of course will not show up on their own website's selectively chosen "recent" reviews). This is deceptive and harms patients who need accurate information in order to make an educated decision about their healthcare. Grand Rapids ENT does not want you to have accurate information. They want you to be propagandized so you'll think only good things about them. Shame on them for such a terrible practice. It's possible other doctors do a better job, but whatever you do, stay FAR, FAR AWAY FROM DR. ARTZ. read more

Giving them one more chance. Initially two years ago I suffered a bout with vertigo and need to see them because of a hearing loss later attributed to an infection of the auditory nerve. They wouldn't see me for a month and by that time they informed me that though they'd try steroids, irreversible long term damage had been done resulting in permanent loss of hearing. They said if only I had seen them right away, they could have helped. Next they couldn't even remember I had an appointment when I arrived to return a set of aids to take the next step in figuring what to do. The office smells bad, and it is very unclean. I saw a few roaches in the waiting room. Crumbs were all over the floor. It is possible that the owner does not have a cleaning crew at this place. read more
