This is a historic old hotel, with excellent accommodations. The rooms are updated, clean and comfortable. The tile work in our bathroom was beautiful. Our windows in the corner room on the 3rd floor were the original "float" glass which dates to early in the 1900's. Rates were very reasonable for the quality of accommodations.

Fabulous place for a nice little getaway. The Hotel is Historic but don't be confused with it not being modernized. It was gorgeous and the Meal in the restaurant was terrific! This place is a must see!!

Lovingly restored historic hotel with an excellent restaurant. The rooms have all modern comforts yet retained their old-time ambiance. Very comfortable beds, super clean bathrooms! Overall a very enjoyable experience.

The room was neat. The staff was so pleasant and accommodating. Made you feel welcome and at home. Never rushed through anything.

When we…read morearrived at Lark and Laurel we were greeted by Ross, one of the owners of the B&B, He showed us to our room and gave us a tour of the home and explained the rich history of the house. Absolutely amazing! We left the B&B as we had to set up for a wedding and rehearsal dinner. We got the keys to the house and our room and were off. We returned at 10:30 to find that the house was still open for us as Ross knew we would be in late from the rehearsal dinner. We sent straight to bed. We both slept well which is unusual for us as we normally do not sleep well the first night in a strange bed. In the morning we were greeted with fresh coffee and breakfast and what a great breakfast it was. A pancake, with a flat egg on top of that followed by a sausage patty topped off with black beans, picante sauce and sour cream. Absolutely delightful! We were off for the day. We returned at 8 p.m. to a quiet house. The owners were out hiking for the day. We made ourselves at home in the large, well kept garden, and socialized. When Ross and Laurie returned from their hiking trip, Ross made sure we had everything that we needed such as sufficient light, etc. In the morning, we enjoyed coffee in the parlor while waiting for the scrumptious breakfast. Laurie had made 4 cloud pancakes with syrup and a thick cup piece of bacon. The syrup was not the traditional maple syrup but a lemon cream type of syrup. Absolutely fantastic! Overall, this B&B has set a high standard for us when we stay at our second B&B, which will be sometime in the near future now. Thank you Laurie and Ross for being such great hosts! I still think, Laurie, that you need to publish a breakfast cookbook. When you do, please let us know, we will buy the first one! Lee And Bert, Michigan

We were given a room with a nice view of the river. Our room was a king studio suite that was set up in a typical Springhill fashion. Our room did have a balcony in case I had to sleep out there if my wife got mad at me. The bathroom was also typical Springhill with a barn type door separating the bathroom from the sleep area. Soap, shampoo and conditioner were the Bonvoy special. Breakfast is served downstairs. Nothing really stood out about the breakfast except that the breakfast was Bonvoyed. Their gym had ellipticals, bikes and treadmills for cardio. Dumb bells were provided for strength training. The gym was clean and good enough for me. They had several fireplaces with each fireplace a different color. They were a good hotel and provided me with a good night sleep so that I could drive 600 miles the next day. The train didn't wake me up probably because of sleeping pills and ear plugs.

There's a number of things physically that could be better, being able to control the temperature in your room or even being told that you couldn't would have been at the top of the list. However, I'm not sure these folks even understand that they are in the hospitality business. The "I just work here" comments are epic. Sad really. Our room was baking, I used my sweatshirt as a pillow because the pillows were about 8" tall, coffee machine in the bathroom (eww), etc. Tried opening the window/door to outside patio, but was startled a handful of times in the middle of the night by loud bangs, crashing so sweat it out in the sauna inside our room. Our room also looked absolutely nothing like the photos on the website, not even close. Even after the worst experience, a simple I'm sorry, I'll take your concerns to the manager would have been better than an "I just work here". First and last stay for me.

After the train we exchange gifts (quietly) and have hot chocolate by the pool after it closes. No rowdiness, not disturbing anyone. Tonight we were asked to leave, and told there wasn't any area we could hang out outside of our rooms after 10 pm, unless we went to the bar. Talked to the general manager, tried to reason with her but she was extremely stern and combative. After paying $221 for a single room, that we booked 3 months ago, that was $179 last year. Talk about inflation! Plus take away the Christmas fun for all of us in 4 rooms. What a disappointment! I'll never stay here again. Born and raised in this area I'm disappointed that the small town friendliness is gone. Do not recommend this place to anyone any more. Over priced, not accommodating and not luxurious enough to be charged these prices!
