The staff at Sugar Hollow are friendly and accommodating and are continuing to expand their facilities. While we were there, the laundry area was completed and six new "long term" sites were cleared by inspectors. It is a remote area of Tennessee, but has all of the necessities within a ten minute drive. Do yourself a favor and check out the wood fired pizza at Smokey Mountain Bakers nearby. The six cheese is our favorite. And if that doesn't satisfy you, larger metro areas are with a 30 minute drive.

A couple minutes later they called me back. Unfortunately they had no spaces but referred me to another campground and luckily they had a spot for us. The laundry facilities are good. Didn't use the shower facilities at all so couldn't review those. We have a 39' 5th wheel and had no trouble backing into space 11. The site we have isn't as level as we would have liked but we are making it work. The office, on first glance, isn't very welcoming but the owner is very nice and accommodating. Don't be intimidated by Adeline, the bull mastiff, who is often at the door. She is a big lover dog. The wi-fi is excellent and allows us to stream what we need. (There is no cable and antenna TV gives us 3 channels) We use a JetPak for personal needs. Our Sprint cell service is decent in park, as well. There is a large solar array across the street which tells me this is a pretty sunny spot, which we find to be true. Which is good since we are wintering here this year. We arrived Nov 1 and this was a pretty area in the Fall. We like it here very much and will come back again when we visit our daughter.

We had to call a tow truck to pull us out. Once on the asphalt road, a big rig has to do a three point turn to make a left on 421 from Vanderpool Rd. There needs to be a stop to these terrible campground conditions. The owner has no idea how to properly run a reputable campground and lies to your face about it being big rig friendly. We've been bless to have camped in all 49 continental States and we've never encountered such a dump.

Checkout time is 10 am, but it was midweek and there was literally no one else in the whole resort except one couple in one of the campsites, so we weren't stressing about being a little late getting out of our Rainbow Trout Cabin. We had put our dishes in the dishwasher and taken the trash to the dumpster, and I was zipping up my last suitcase, preparing to take it out the open front door and put it in our car, when the owner came walking up with her dog (which looked like a pitbull/boxer cross - it's large and muscular), OFF LEASH (the resort's rules supposedly require all dogs to be on leash). It was a little before 11 am. She intentionally let the dog run into our cabin, with us inside. She followed it in, yelling angrily -- not at the dog, but at US, shouting that "checkout time was 10 am!" etc. etc. The dog was barking at us, and charged at me, cornering me in the bedroom. I put my suitcase between myself and the dog. Eventually she called it away and let us get out of the cabin and to our car. The cabin was very nice, the river is great, it's a gorgeous spot with good fishing and swimming and a nice playground. But beware of the owner! Also maybe don't bring your dog, since she let hers run around loose. And the tap water smelled like sulfur, not sure what's going on with that.

This is by far the nicest park! The park is located on the Nolichucky River with beautiful long and wide sites. The owners and staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Bathrooms and laundry are cleaned several times a day. Firewood and ice are delivered directly to your site upon request. While here we had an Uncle pass away. My sister in law from Pennsylvania was able to rent one of the themed campers instead of staying at a hotel. She enjoyed her stay and we are planning a family get together here in the future. We don't have small children with us at this time but the playground is inviting. The attention to detail at this KOA is awesome!

We were following the KOA cancellation policy requiring 48 hours which would result in a $10.00 cancellation fee. I am sure he has rented the site for all 8 days by now because again it is a delightful spot Lesson learned Be aware that not all KOA campgrounds are going to adhere to the KOA cancellation policy before booking

They provide all of the amenities of home for their guests. We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit next to our cabin and rocking on the front porch in the evenings. The sound of the water moving down the river and the seclusion of the location is peaceful and good for the soul. Due to the convenient location we were able to enjoy sight seeing in North Carolina and Tennessee and take in the breathtaking views from the mountains when hiking. For anyone who loves the outdoors as we do this is the perfect location to spend a vacation. The small town of Erwin is a favorite of ours for its charm and unique shops. We look forward to spending more time at the farm!

When I arrived a few days later they took me in as if I were family. I had injuries from the trail and without hesitation got me the medical treatment I needed. They put me up in the cabin where again they made me feel at home...so much so I did not want to leave spending 5 days with them. I met many other wonderful guests who shared the cabin and stayed in their guest rooms in the house overlooking the scenic view of the river. As a USMC Veteran with a VA Service Dog, I had arrived at Johnnys to them not even wanting me to…read morestay and asking me to leave. after a brief discussion of about 30 minutes I was able to stay two nights. upon waking up, I was refunded my last night and asked to leave due to them having too many dogs at the location. Most being employees. will never be staying there again. Resupply is taxed at over 100% and sometimes closer to 200% in profits. Not satisfied and will NEVER return. camp across the street at the river and pay the $5 to shower if need be.
