I have never before left a hotel after checking in, unpacking and staying a night, but it was our honeymoon and I hated every moment I spent in this "hotel". It's the oldest hotel in Porto and should be a hostel based on the conditions it's in.
First, the initial check in was awful. Disgustingly rude and unprofessional. The hotel check in time is 2 pm, to the point that they tell you that you have to tell them if you'll check in past 4 (never heard of that before). We got there at 315 and our room wasn't ready, and they unapologetically said the cleaning lady was on lunch. The front desk girl laughed at us, from everything to the fact it was our honeymoon, to the room we booked, was just clearly a turd in her real life and couldn't control her turdness at work.
The beds were like rocks, the sheets were dirty, everything was actually dirty, and it's like an old key system but you have to give them your key when you leave? And we had the do not disturb sign on the door but they entered our room regardless to "clean" (sheets were the same dirty ones,
Stains in the same spot so they didn't do much). The straw that broke the camels back was the bugs in the bathroom, and their denial of said bugs, until they came up to our room and we showed them. Their solution was another room, one floor below, which isn't a real solution if you understand how bugs get into buildings. We checked out in a rush , and went somewhere else. read more
