Granite wellness center in Grass Valley has a very unpleasant front office. What I mean by that is that a particular employee that runs the counter and deals directly with clients is rude, unprofessional and takes great pleasure in making you feel like you are less than. His name is John. I recently reapplied because I relapsed. They called it the last minute and declined my application to reside there to get help. It's all predicated on the fact that the staff member John, told me if I didn't like it, I could leave. So I thought about it, and I said to myself if I'm going to be treated like a piece of s*** by this f****** guy, John specifically, I would leave because I didn't go there to get abused and harassed by staff. I didn't think that they would be so retaliatory. I need help now because of my relapse and at the last minute they declined to allow me to come into the facility. I guess this just speaks to the fact that we will treat you as poorly and unprofessionally as we want and if you don't like it you can just leave. Also if you express your concerns you are no longer welcome there because they don't take complaints about staff seriously. SHOP AROUND IF GOING VOLUNTARILY! My son voluntarily went to the Grass Valley location for alcohol detox The office was all about helping and giving hope after many conversations for a few days. Then the day came to drop off my son, again everyone seemed so helpful and made my son feel comfortable. After an uncomfortable hour in a half, they finally escorted him to his room and I left. Still helpful UNTIL the next day, they received payment of 1617.10 (balance insurance didn't cover) and then it was a feeling as if I dropped my son off at prison. AGAIN, he chose to go and get help at age 30. My son is a quiet person who typically just lets things go with out argument BUT this company needs to go through more training He wasn't there for a court order, he didn't get a DUI but he felt like he was looked down on and learned these employees LIE. yes lie. While you can't have your phone, if you ask they would allow for a call or pay a bill. My son tried on 3 different times and they always said "NO, You are not allowed to call from your phone". Since he was detoxing he had to take meds. They woke him every 1/2 hour to check on him...bright lights and loud noises , poke him to make sure he is alive. Night shift was the worse from 10p-7a. No heart!!!! Food is worse than hospital food. TV did not have a remote. Had to share with other rooms DVD's to watch but 80-90's maybe Scratched or missing Should have a bigger outside area to get fresh air verses a small sidewalk maybe 20ft for smokers. If you don't smoke, not fun Promises a therapist to talk to, for 7days , only had one 15 min conversation Doctor was a zoom visit Rooms are depressing looking For 450 a day, they can make a lot of improvements by adding some color , better food but most of all hire people who want to be there and are more sympathetic to the patients Shop around if you can. I believe this may be my second review for this terrible awful business. And business is all it is to these people there is no or very little I should say personal one to one relationships between client and employee here. Well I had a couple good counselors through the duration of my inpatient stay for 60 days at their live-in facility, prior to them losing the contract to a much better agency (common goals) my experience at the transitional living home that they placed me in was depressing and harmful to my all-around recovery and life is a whole. First off they placed me in a walk-in closet that they called a bedroom. It had boogers, snot, and other bodily fluids all over the walls which were riddled with nail holes and other holes from the ceiling to the floor. I had to scrape the boogers and snot from the wall using a putty knife and then I patched all of the holes with materials that came from my own pocket and I painted the room as it was dingy and dirty like a trap house. I was later admonished for painting the room without supervisors permission. To my credit I painted the room the same color white as the rest of the house it's just that having fresh paint and made the rest of the house look even dirtier. I was kicked out of the transitional living home after starting a new job that required me to service an area where there was no cell phone reception. While at work on my very first day there tea House supervisor Alyssa called my phone approximately 30 times and text me at least nine times. Alyssa's texts ended with threats to terminate my residency in the program if I did not give her a call back by 3:00 p.m. . I did not get to a place where I had cell reception until 3:45. I messaged her back and explained to her that I was working with no reception in the area and that I had just received her messages. She text me again at 5 something but I did not receive those until around 8:30 at which point they had already terminated my residency within the granite wellness agency. While staying in there agencies facilities I was told I could use their address to receive mail. After being kicked out I went to go get my new trucks title, registration, my new debit card, and my social security card. I was told all of these things had been returned to sender. On top of that the new job that I had only hired me because they were impressed that I was bettering myself and living in a transitional living home and that my drug and alcohol screens were all negative for substances. This place will not give me something in writing saying why I was kicked out therefore I was terminated from my position and my new job because they didn't believe that I was kicked out of the tea House for not answering my phone. I am now homeless again and living in my truck. I have no registration card and God only knows where the title to my vehicle is because these people claim to have returned it to sender, yet the DMV knows nothing about this. I recently learned that Alyssa, the young lady who was adamant about terminating my residency within the agency, is the girlfriend of a guy that I used to party with some years ago. Apparently Alyssa, whom didn't even know this man during that era, feels that I am somehow responsible for the things he went through while he was on the wrong side of society's norms and standards. This was what motivated her to pick me out of the agency and essentially ruin everything I was working so hard to get into motion so that my own family could be proud of me again. I guess this would be a good agency for you as long as nobody employed there has a personal problem with you. As for me granite wellness destroyed my life when I was just getting it back on track. These people, particularly those in charge of the tea houses, should be ashamed of themselves. They should be investigated and terminated as employees of this agency immediately before they ruin somebody else's life. It is things like this that lead some people right into the grave. Whether that be by an accidental overdose after relapse, or some poor depressed person who chooses suicide after being beat down like this. These people are a threat to the safety and security of the very people that they portray themselves as helping.
