For 20+ years I had been applying for a Maine Moose Tag with zero luck. 2022 gave me the same results but my friend John was drawn and got a tag, fortunately for me he had already successfully tagged several large moose over 40 years of hunting so he transferred his tag to me. Lucky me Game on! John and I met Jay on route to the hunting camp. From the first moment I met Jay I liked him and knew we had hired the right guide for this one in a life time hunt Jay is one of the nicest people you will ever meet if you come to Maine. When we arrived at camp I didn't know what to expect since we were going to be essentially camping deep into the Maine woods minutes from the border of Canada with no power or running water. We arrived at the Taj Mahal of all Maine tent camps. John and I had our own large private tent with comfortable beds and heat. There was a tent for uncle Ted the cook, a tent for Jay and his son Matt, a kitchen tent, a dining tent, a shower shower tent, and of course a bathroom tent. The only tent we were missing was the game room tent lol. Never expected such an amazing set up. We had every possible thing we could need and Uncle Ted the cook fed us well. Nothing like waking up to a hot pot of coffee and an amazing delicious breakfast every single morning before we went hunting for the day and later that evening coming back to an incredible outdoorsman's dinner. Jay asked us do you want to drive around in a pick up truck and hope to get lucky or do you want to go deep into the woods where I know we will see some amazing moose??? Of course we chose to go deep into the Maine woods and Jay was absolutely right we did see moose. We passed on the few that we saw the first two days but on the third day Jay was calling away, like he did the previous two days and all of a sudden I heard the grunt that stopped the 3 of us in our tracks. The forest grew silent to me and all I could see was the tree tops starting to move. It was amazing to see the tree branches move back-and-forth to hear the branches on the ground snap as this moose approached us. Jay was incredible, he called in this gigantic bull moose too within 60 yards where I was standing patiently waiting. This humongous bull moose, was thrashing and stomping as it stepped out of the woods into a perfect shooting lane. What can I say, Jay gave me the perfect shot. I pulled the trigger and then John sent a second shot into this amazing creature. The bull ran 30 yards and collapsed into the woods. Oh my God we couldn't believe what just happened. The three of us approached this 900 pound moose and stood there in amazement and gratefulness. We were thankful and celebrated our amazing experience. There was no backing up the pickup truck for this hunt. Jay went back and got his son Matt who was scouting where we were suppose to hunt the following day and uncle Ted insisted on joining us back deep in the woods to help us prepare and transport the moose back by sleds, back packs and even a canoe. We took our time and properly butchered this bull moose while of course uncle Ted cooked us yet another delicious meal. Later that evening we celebrated once again at camp with uncle Ted's fine cooking. It was exactly what John and I hoped for, a dream come true and Jay, Matt and uncle Ted delivered 110%. I highly recommend any hunter who is looking for the moose hunt of his or her lifetime to reach out to Jay. Friendly knowledgeable and just a class act. It's true you get what you pay, hope to do this again some day! Eric Pronovost

Nice people, good fishing, delicious food and a relaxing environment. Definitely a good place to…read moreunwind. Having to head back to "reality" at the end of my stay was the only downside. Even if you don't fly fish (the pond has native brook trout), Tim Pond is a nice spot to relax. The owners and staff are welcoming and helpful, the cabins are rustic but really charming, and there's a lot of natural beauty and wildlife to take in while you're there, whether you're out on the pond, walking some trails, or sitting in a rocking chair on the porch. This year I went up for the fly fishing school taught by Bonnie Holding, who is, among other things, a Master Maine Guide and extremely patient instructor. I had been doubtful about it at first (I went with my boyfriend), but by the end of the weekend I was yanking fish out of that pond just like a pro. If I'd kept any of the fish, the kitchen would have prepared them for me for breakfast the following morning, but I let them all go. Maybe next time. Speaking of food, the freshly-prepared meals are de-LICIOUS (Saturday night: choice of prime rib or scallop-stuffed haddock) and always include a mouth-watering dessert if you've got room (the brownie pudding was in-CREDIBLE!!). (And really, who doesn't make room for dessert? Silly people, that's who.) And then there's the cookie jar, which is always well-stocked and accessible whenEVER you want a fresh chocolate chip cookie. Yum. Each cabin has a bathroom with hot and cold running water (with a toilet, sink & shower), beds with fresh linens, a wood stove (or fireplace), and a cribbage board for just in case. I saw pictures in the library taken in the early 1900s that suggest that some of the cabins may be original to that time period. Definitely adds to the character of the camp, as does the kerosene lantern you can use when the generator shuts off at 10:00 and you're in the middle of a "best-out-of-three" cribbage match. (No, I didn't win.) If you're looking for swank, this isn't it. But if you're looking to unplug, relax, and enjoy some good meals with good people, Tim Pond is the place to go. :)

My family of 22 booked almost $1000 at the Bethel outdoor adventures in campground for a day of tubing down the river. We were greeted with a long snarl of a face in the main office and while still on the river with multiple family, waiting for us to get off the river, they were yelled at and mistreated by Erin. And when I got off, I went to retrieve my keys to leave, and I was treated as if I was a moron when I tried to explain that I just had given her a fob, not a full set of keys. She treated me like I was a two year-old idiot and was very sassy with me and again with her long snarl of a face. This is not how Customers should ever be treated and you should not be the face of this company. I highly recommend another tubing company if you visit Bethel Maine
