The door to my deluxe room is too heavy. In fact, I'm writing to you from my deluxe room at this very moment, because I haven't been able to open the door to properly check-out of my deluxe room at the suggested checkout time of 11am. I prefer to stay in deluxe rooms, because I'm a blues boy at heart and need the extra space to listen to my blues CDs while I'm traveling for business. Unfortunately, I've come down with the blues fever because I still can't open the very heavy door to my larger, more expensive deluxe room and I fear that my stay will be extended. Sadly, this isn't the first time my stay has been extended. I was once attending a blues concert at The Alley in Sanford, FL and witnessed a blues tragedy, which greatly affected my evening. The young gun guitar-slinger on stage was ferociously berated by the venue owner following some type of dispute after the show. I had been in the merchandise line to buy a new blues CD and was delayed by 10 minutes or so. I travel often for business and recreation.

So, while they may be fairly new, they've sort of got some really old fashioned things going on. They're still doing the whole credit card incidental hold thing and are making it really difficult to connect your devices. You don't see incidental holds so much anymore but they're still doing it here and it's laughable given there's no bar or restaurant or bistro or coffee shop or beer or wine or alcohol to buy. It's just an interest free loan for them. They also really don't want you connecting anything to your TV either. It's affixed to the wall so you can't tilt it to see it while you're at the desk nor can you easily reach any of the HDMI inputs. Of six devices, only two connected to the wifi login; usually they all do. So to make the Xbox work, had to force the login with the IP address on another device, then use that device's MAC address on the Xbox. Easy for me but most people would have given up and that's the idea; I think. No breakfast sandwiches on the weekends for whatever reason even though you'll pay more for your stay those days.

Carpet seemed newer too. Room include a refrigerator, microwave, and LED TV with Roku and other streaming services. The TV could have been bigger, and the mattress was softer than I like, but I had a good stay. The bathroom had a walk-in shower with tiling that looks only a few years old. Everything was very clean, so kudos to the housekeeping staff. I arrived after the office closed and kept leaving in the morning before it opened, so I never got a chance to meet the staff, but they texted me the night I arrived and made sure I knew where to find my room key. Would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Rittenhouse Inn last year for her birthday and it was nice. But, this place feels like home away from home with the nice touches of a warm welcome. We left our house after work so got here around 5:30PM on a Friday. Elaine had Sandy greet us and she was most welcoming with pamphlets of things to do. She prepared a local wine and cheese/grape platter while we decided for dinner. Plus, there was a bubbly mango sparkling bottle drink too for my birthday. In our room, she had some of Elaine's chocolate brownies ready for us as well. We ended up going to Swensons' Lake House restaurant only a couple blocks away. It was the best decision and recommendation from Sandy. Afterwards, we got the wine and cheese/grape platter from the fridge to relax in the gazebo. It was a nice a private area which we could enjoy the sunset. It was only the 2 of us in the house so it was nice to have some privacy with the house to ourselves. We woke up in the middle of the night and decided to enjoy some treats in the common area upstairs. We helped ourselves to some crackers and hot cider from Kuerig that Sandy showed us earlier. In the morning, we woke up and Sandy prepared our breakfast. We took a short walk around the lake and then to the church and back. Sandy was ready and served us a 3-4 meal breakfast. It started with a vanilla Greek yogurt parfait with cantaloupe, strawberries, and banana. Next, we had sausage with Havarti eggs and dill which was fantastic with some English muffins and homemade jam. Last, we had a bread pudding with whipped cream and chocolate chips. We finally got some great recommendations for hiking and checked out with Sandy. We enjoyed the wine so much that we visited WineHaven to pick up another bottle of the Stinger honey wine. Also, we picked up some of that local cheese down the road at Eichen that Sandy had for us when we arrived.

The staff is just plain awesome... friendly, helpful. We had some friends come to play in the pool, and while they charge a little bit for it, it's a pittance to get some swimming in when it's 26 degrees outside! The pool is good sized, and they have a changing/restroom area for outside guests. They also have a good-sized hot tub. All-in-all, this is my new go-to place to stay when we're in town.
