My original plan was to arrive there in my Class C mobile home, but it died on the trip from Mississippi. I called to cancel my reservation and spoke to Chuck. He told me to come see them when I got there and they offered me a chance to stay in one of their trailers. Talk about a Godsend! During my three years there, the staff was like family to me. Harry, Chuck, John and the others. I fully expected to stay another three years and retire, but an unexpected promotion changed my plans and necessitated a PCS to California. I miss them and I think this is one of the best Military Famcamps I've been to (and I have been to a lot!). Highly recommended!

You have the option of renting one room at a time or the whole thing, depending on how large of a group you have. Each has its own bathroom and access to the common living area (which is super cozy and great for just hanging out- we escaped a rainstorm in here our first night!) The hookups were very convenient and worked well. The wi-fi was the best and most reliable we have ever found at a campground. We were even able to use it to stream to our TV, at least during the day when it seemed like most residents were away (not so great in the evenings and weekends). The sites were very wide and we were able to park both our truck and car beside the camper without feeling crowded. I am sure they will be adding more amenities as time goes on - they added several new spaces while we were there. We would definitely stay there again if back in the area.

And while it was on the opposite side of the road for me heading southeast, it was easy to make a U-turn back towards in a short amount of time. There was ample space for cars, trucks, and big rigs. Trash cans, cigarette receptacles, mostly clean restrooms, vending machines, picnic tables, barbecue grills, handicap, access, interpretive displays and plenty of room to stretch out your legs with the dog, but I'm not sure if there were any dog waste bags available. We didn't see any attendants on the grounds at around 10:30 AM on 5.24.2025, however, this rest area is well-maintained and no trash in sight. Recommended.
