We commnuicated through email with a couple of phone calls. I sent her pictures of exactly of what I wanted and she was able to replicate everything except the gazebo. I sent her a picture with curly willows going up the gazebo with vertical flowers hanging from it and I got were curly willows. If the gazebo went right then she would have been the perfect floral vendor. Nonetheless, if I have another event, I would most definately go to her again. And, most importantly, the guests that took the centerpieces and floral arrangements home told me the stargazing lillies and roses were still alive two week after the wedding!!! So, you totally get your monie worth.

Unfortunately, we were locked in with Jena Paige due to her being the exclusive florist for our venue. From the very beginning, communication was chaotic. I spoke to her over the course of 3 fifteen minute phone calls the entire in which I was constantly being interrupted. She would promise to attend meetings and then simply never show up, with no explanation. Every attempt to get clarity felt like pulling teeth. Instead of being a supportive vendor during an already emotional process, she was often combative, dismissive, and, at times, outright rude. She even argued with my mother **on the morning of my wedding**, which is the last thing any bride should have to deal with on that day. It was devastating. And then came the actual flowers -- the part we were trusting her with the most. We received **wilted, dead florals**, pink flowers we explicitly said we did *not* want, arrangements that were **tiny, dense, and not at all what we paid for**, and in some cases, pieces that were simply **missing**. We had no backup option because she was the exclusive florist for our venue, and she did not deliver the quality, professionalism, or product we were promised. What makes this even more painful is that I had reached out time and time again to both the Venue and Jena to convey my worry and lack of confidence in receiving what was ordered and we were still wildly disappointed. When we reached out privately to have a reasonable conversation about these issues, she denied everything -- every concern, every discrepancy, every missing item. Your florist should make your wedding more beautiful, not more stressful. Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite, and I would strongly caution other couples to think carefully before trusting this vendor with something so important.

But that's how good of an impression Vito and his team left, and how confident I am that we made the right choice for the wedding. I am completely hopeless and lost when it comes to design and having an artistic eye. Other than "we get married, everybody parties," I had no specific vision for the wedding and walked into the appointment utterly clueless. But when my mom and I walked in to the appointment, Vito took the time to get to know us and what we were looking for. He actually showed us some real samples, rather than solely relying on pictures. He is incredibly personable and made both of us feel very comfortable and at ease. He explained how the flowers would work with our venue and everything about the coordination process (it helps that he's worked with our venue several times). Vito also has an incredible eye for design and his prices are extremely reasonable (in fact, at this rate, it feels like a steal!). They work quickly too - not even 24 hours later, we got a follow-up email from his team with all the information we'll need moving forward. After just one appointment, I can't recommend Vito and Carl Alan Floral Designs enough. My mom and I can't wait for the sample appointment, and I can't imagine working with anyone else!

Our sweetheart table did not have flowers on it as discussed (only greens which I'm sure is much cheaper) and they did not use pillars to display flowers on the sides of the table. The team who set up was nice, but they ran late even though they were aware of the allotted time for them to set up. We were planning to rent additional vases for a couple hundred dollars and they did not end using them. The venue made sure I was aware of this too (because they used their vases instead). Since they did not use them, I asked to be refunded for what I paid for the additional vases (nothing else) and was basically ignored. I was told they were sending a check, never received one... then followed up a couple times and never heard back. After spending thousands and thousands of dollars on flowers with them, it is mind boggling to me that they cannot return a couple hundred dollars that we are owed. Our wedding reception was last May (2021) so they have had plenty of time. Does not seem ethical to me at all and because of this I will not use them for any future events or recommend them.

I live on the west coast, so I had to get creative about showing up to the wedding somehow. I decided to "be there" in flowers and offered to make floral arrangements for my brother and his bride. I found Alisha Simone Elegant Event Flowers & Decor. I was excited to support this amazing Black-owned business. I called many florists in Collingswood, and Alisha Simone was the most thoughtful florist I spoke to on the phone. Very kind and professional. She listened and connected with me on a human level, empathizing with my inability to attend my brother's wedding. She was hopeful that she could support me and make the flowers a special offering, a token of my love. Alisha Simone certainly delivered, and I've been singing her praises ever since. To be safe during COVID-19, the wedding was small. I explained to Alisha that it was a party of 8 people including the bride and groom, the parents, the maid of honor, and best man. Alisha worked with me on figuring out the best flowers for each person involved and sent me a portfolio of sample arrangements for the bouquets as well as boutonnières. I could tell that it was going to be special working with her, because she had asked me what the bride's dress looked like, how tall my brother was, his build, their heights, etc. She explained that she tries to tailor the floral arrangements to match the same style and mood of the bride and groom. Her attention to detail meant the world to me. The bride wanted a mostly blue bouquet with white flowers, she had mentioned hydrangeas but was also open to any soft blue flower. I really wanted to make sure the bride would be happy with her bouquet. Alisha was brilliant, she recommended delphinium. But I was worried that it wasn't going to be enough blue for the bride if we just used delphinium. I had heard that hydrangeas wilt faster, but Alisha worked hard to accommodate the bride's wishes. She also affirmed the need to add hydrangeas to provide texture. So she said that she could put hydrangeas in small water tubes so they could stay fresh in the bouquet throughout the day. She assured me that nothing would spill if she set the bouquet down. As you can see, the bridal bouquet consisted of white roses, delphinium, some hydrangeas, and some greenery. On the day of her wedding, the bride was so happy! She felt that the bouquet was perfect. Alisha really listened to the bride's needs and my concerns. The groom's boutonnière had a wonderful soft blue accent to match the bridal bouquet, while the rest of the party had uniform white roses with some greenery. The bride had asked for the mothers to have corsages, but we went with petite bouquets instead when Alisha mentioned that the corsages might die faster and become a nest of dead flowers without the stems to dip in water. This was a really good point. Alisha kept in mind that the weather would be hot, and if the wedding party was going to be in three different locations (ballroom, church, house) then it might be better for the mothers to have petite bouquets. That way, she said, they could put them in water throughout the day and then take home their bouquets to enjoy them longer. I loved this suggestion so much. This shows just how thoughtful Alisha is as a florist. Alisha Simone is a florist that you can trust. She has my highest recommendation, and I would definitely work with her again. You will feel cared for as you plan your wedding. If you're long distance (like me) and you'd like to deliver flowers in Collingswood or the greater Philadelphia area, you will appreciate Alisha's clear communication. We were in touch by phone and email. The payment process was easy. Anyways, I wish I could've been at the wedding in person. But it was such an honor to celebrate my brother and new sister-in-law through the flowers that they held/wore on their special day. Thank you, Alisha. After I did not hear from her, however, I decided to give her a quick call to make sure she received the form on her end. What a mistake that was... My excited bubble quickly popped when Gina greeted me with a very pessimistic view on my budget and experiences vetting other florists prior to talking to her as she made a ton of excuses for both herself and another florist who completely stopped talking to me in the middle of our planning process. Instead of trying to get to know me and additional details related to our wedding, Gina proceeded to leverage herself as being in high-demand and encouraging me to look at more 'basic' florists as she is really 'top-notch' and 'the best of the best.' Additionally, she told me that she responded to my message multiple times (which she never did), and also felt the need to tell me that she's not going to communicate regularly if we do decide to choose her saying, and I quote, 'If communication is what you're looking for, you're not going to get it here. That's not my style!' I do not recommend Gina purely based on her SEVERE lack of professionalism and poor approach to talking to a potential new client. Update: I did post this within an hour of speaking to Gina on the phone because, quite frankly, I was appalled. While she did state that she was "Go with the flow," she also made it clear that she would not be communicating regularly as that is not how she operates with the quote above. In regards to her comment below about flower shortages and her "assistance in my journey to find a florist," that's a nice way to put it but the reality is that she pushed me away from the beginning of the conversation to the very end. Kim obviously listened carefully, because she turned everything we mentioned into beautiful floral arrangements for the ceremony, the wedding party, the tables and the reception room that were exactly what we wanted, and more.
