Grass Master - disappointing service and unfair billing My experience with Grass Master was very disappointing. Several services were performed either without proper approval or under conditions that made them ineffective. The aeration and overseeding were done when the soil was excessively dry and compacted, resulting in shallow, non-functional holes, turf tearing, and poor seed-to-soil contact. Despite this, the company insists on full payment. A fertilizer application was also performed over a layer of fallen leaves, which blocked nutrients from reaching the soil and made the treatment ineffective. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In addition, another service was carried out despite a prior agreement to postpone any treatments.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I attempted to resolve these issues professionally and requested removal of the charges or a credit, but the company refused and continued to demand payment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Because of this experience, I have canceled all future services with Grass Master and cannot recommend them to others. read more

This is my season(2024) using this company. I used their 6 step process followed by season ending areating and over seeding. I didn't have any dandelions problems, however I did suffer from course blade grass and some crabgrass that may have resulted from me trying to put my lawn in early 2023. The quality of service has eroded greatly over the years. The staff is not attentive to customers requests or needs. They schedule appointments for services, and don't show up, or call to apologize. Their office staff is constantly changing, which says something. read more

Grassmaster ruined a good yard after my wife made a switch with a service I was happy with. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I gave them a zero rating on their website and informed them that I was terminating their service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They ignored my request and serviced my yard the day after the service I rehired treated my property.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to tell them again and again not to return to my property until I threatened to file a police complaint where I would charge trespassing and vandalism.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They are still trying to bill me for a service I terminated months earlier, and I have found on social media that they have done this with others. I was a loyal Grass Master customer since 2009 and had one of the best looking lawns in my neighborhood. In March of 2021 I sold my home and passed the information on to the new owners. When spring rolled around, Grass Master applied the first application and billed me. I said I thought it was a mistake and to bill to the new owners. They refused and since have been harassing me for payment. I refuse to pay and have disputed the bill multiple times. Now they claim they are in the same category as utilities and can damage my credit report if I don't pay. I reported them to the PUCO and the Ohio Attorney General. I went from a happy customer who referred them to neighbors to a disgruntled former customer due to how they have treated me. I cannot and will not recommend them due to their bad business practices. I was told about their annual auto- renewal contract only after 1st treatment when I got an invoice. 1st treatment- dead bunny found in front yard-- switched to "organic program." 2nd treatment- worker left a pile of fertilizer spilled in the street in front of my house for me to clean up. 3rd treatment- fertilizer left all over my driveway, which had been sealed earlier in the summer. read more

Horrible customer service. The Technicians do NOT read the notes regarding your yard. I spent 15 minutes on the phone with "Elizabeth" on 7/7/22 and we agreed to do a granular fertilizer, spot weed if able, and come back when temperatures cooled down to do a broad liquid weed control. I requested that due to the 90 degree weather expected that day and high temps throughout the week with little chance of rain. I look out my bedroom office window at 7:45 am and the Technician is spraying my grass with a liquid. I run outside and said is that a Liquid Fertilizer and he said yes. I then said you were supposed to go a granular fertilizer on my yard, per my discussion with Elizabeth. The guy didn't care. I called the Service Manager, Michael and left a message stating what happened and that I was done with Grass Master. He called me back and said they canceled my service as requested. He was very arrogant and didn't want to take accountability that his Technician screwed up. He finally admitted the Technician did NOT read the notes. But again, he could care less. He then made some sarcastic stating does my "agriculture degree" give me the knowledge on how to treat my yard. This company burned a part of my yard at another house years ago. I decided to give them a chance 2 years ago at my current home. Big mistake. My neighbor across the street used them last year and fired them too. This company does NOT care about your yard. They just want to get in, get out, and bill you. If you're smart, you'll look elsewhere for your lawn care. Period. read more

The Grassmaster truck drove by our house and waved at my wife sitting on the porch without stopping. I called in to complain and the office person said they will dispatch a service call but no one showed up. We got a bill saying the original guy was there at 8:30 which never happened. I sent an email canceling our services and stating no payment would be rendered and I have yet to receive a response. Last year they were pretty good but this last time not so. DO NOT HIRE GRASSMASTER OF CANAL FULTON!!!We got a new technician and our front lawn was ruined. They do not communicate notes about lawn specifications & customer requests! See pictures below. Our yard looked worse than untreated lawns on our street. Oh and the story doesn't end here....so they came out to assess the damage and blamed it on my soil....now mind you it is the same soil that they had been treating the previous years....Then I get a return visit and they retreat the front lawn and then the tech proceeds to go around back and apply weed killer .....WE purposefully DO NOT want chemicals on our backyard because we have a dog and a garden back there and it is specified on our account to fertilize the front yard only! So when I get home from work and realize this happened I call and the receptionist is very rude and says "most people have their entire yard done".....again no apologies. The final thing they said they would do was stop out in the fall to over -seed the yard that their technician killed.....by the time they showed up it was almost November and the new seed barely had time to germinate...Beware with GRASSMASTER your lawn could look like my picture below read more

We have been customers of Grass Master for the past several years. Prior to their service, the weeds (esp. ground ivy) in our yard were getting pretty bad. A previous service we had could not fully eliminate the weeds. Grass Master has done an excellent job for us. In addition, if I happen to be outside when the technician comes by, he takes the time to fully answer any questions I might have concerning my lawn. I was new to the area this season and looking for someone to take care of my lawn. Naturally I was referred to several companies and contacted each. Within 10 minutes of a request, I had a quoted price for my lawn. I responded and told the sales rep Steve that I was waiting to hear back from others before I made a decision. 3 days went by, each day I had a follow up message from Steve, but had not heard from anyone else. I called in to speak with steve. I got an office member by the name of Crystle, what a great person, she had great attitude with me and answered the questions I had before putting me through to Steve. Upon speaking with Steve, he got me set up on my program. He kept in touch with me all season with information that will not only improve my lawn, but also protect my family and pets with the introduction of their flea and tick applications. The technician who was on my lawn all year was amazing, Travis not only gave me the lawn I was hoping for, but was very informative about what he did each visit to the lawn. With all this, I put in a request to have a manager come out to see the lawn to see if I needed any additional services. Mike came out and explained aeration to me and the benefits of the program in great detail. Brad came out about a month later and performed a fantastic aeration, and also applied seed. After the 1st season, I get nothing but good vibes from a very professional company. I would recommend them to anyone. Take my word people, for a beautiful lawn, great customer service, and not a massive hit on the wallet, a call to grass master will be the best decision you make all year. read more

This company deserves zero stars for billing me for services they claim they applied to my yard on a snowy day in November when they were watched from my window hopping out of their truck placing a flag in my snowy yard and leaving. Try calling their office to speak to very unprofessional Crystal who will talk rudely to you and pretty much tell you she is reporting you to credit bureau if you don't pay the bill for services you did NOT receive.. she does not care about her job or her customers. Crystal is a serious LIAR and God will judge liars. She's unprofessional and argumentative, a gatekeeper that refuses to let you speak to other workers/staff or upper management about previous damage to the lawn and remedy. When my mother asked to come to their location to meet a manger with images and reports Crystal screamed NO and abruptly hung as we were trying to speak with her. Today, I called to report again fertilizer burn from a recent application they did a few days ago . Crystal, the liar, went as far as to say she closed my account because my mother and I threatened to harm someone in her office which is a complete defamatory LIE, and then abruptly hung up the phone. She made this up to avoid accountability for the property damages this company has caused and has refused to let me speak with anyone else. I have had grass master for 1.5 years. I had the 4 step grass program and the bug ban for around the house. I had no issues last year and they gave me okay service. This year has been the total opposite. They changed the fertilizer they used. My grass has weeds, dandelions and crab grass this year bad. When I call them to see if they can come out and reapply a step or to see what we can do, they give me horrible customer service. I was told my grass is bad due to not getting the 5 step program. Why would I buy more of a product that doesn't work? I was paying $77 for them to do the lawn and spray for bugs. They can't explain what changed. We have had plenty of rain and I even water my grass to help. My neighbors don't use any company to service their lawns and never water but their grass looks greener, thicker and way better then mine. There are other options out there and the lady that you deal with when you call in is always annoyed, pissed and so negative. I do not recommend grass master to anyone. read more

I have had Grassmaster maintaining my lawn for approximately two years now. My grass looks awesome. A week ago Friday I requested vegetation killer to be applied to the rock area around my backyard, around an inground pool. I was hesitant what to think because it was supposed to rain in the Cleveland area last Saturday. I haven't been able to do this good of a job myself in past years. David applied the vegetation control around my yard and did an awesome job. While the vegetation growing where it shouldn't is now dying off, I am so proud of seeing it is under control and not growing. It was well worth the money spent. You're awesome Grassmaster!! Terrible customer service. Been with them for years and was happy. Last year they sent new people that were not effective.we kept trying to work with him but our yard was and is full of weeds. My husband went out to talk to the service person every visit. We had to kill weeds in the first of the season and plant seed. The guy from last year showed up and the treatment did no good. We waited to talk one more time and to our delight the man that did our lawn care was back! I called to tell them we did not feel we should pay for the first treatment but we're happy our regular man was back. I mentioned we did not want anyone else. After years with the company we were told they would not send him back and they would no longer service our lawn. Plus!! They said we owe for inadequate lawn care! We had Grass Master out to do a fall cleanup in our yard this year. They were very flexible and accommodating as I initially just wanted curb-side leaf vacuuming service but later switched to full clean-up once I realized that I was running out of time before an anticipated snowfall. Their team neatly stacked up extra branches & limbs that had fallen around my property. I plan on having Grass Master come back this spring to help renew our lawn and get rid of unwanted weeds. read more

I've had a couple companies in the past 10 years treat my yard, Grass Master by far has been the best. Staff is very accommodating, knowledgeable, and very friendly. Services are very flexible, and easy to understand. Reading your paperwork is something I highly recommend, like all paperwork you receive. I see many people complain that they were automatically renewed, but were unaware. The paperwork CLEARLY states that unless Grass Master hears from you to cancel, they are going to continue the service. This is a standard practice with all companies and seems to me people just like to play dumb and not read their mail. I will continue with Grass Master and luckily don't have to call them to renew, LOL. read more

This company is the worst. For over 6 months they sent me a bill for services that I never requested. I had previously used their services and was NOT on a contract. They would send a bill in fall for discount and renewal for next season. In fall of 2014, I never sent in a payment and did not request the service for 2015 season. In early Spring, they were at my house and started to spray the grass. I told worker I was not on plan and he did not complete the job and left. I also called the office to tell the girl I did not pay to have service in 2015. She stated I would get a bill and if I didn't pay it, they would send to collections. Well, for 5-6 months they have relentlessly sending me bills and I have not paid as I was not on a contract and did not pay for 2015 season, That said, they now sent me to collection company in Farmington, MI and I am furious. Well I have a 830 credit score and I pay all my bills for services that I have ordered. I disputed it originally and they persist to harass me with mailings. Terrible service and terrible results. They came out to my house 5/18 and now it's 7/11 and they still haven't showed up. I was told on the phone they would be at my house sometime @6/22,,,never showed up,,,mean time my backyard is full of weeds that I supposedly paid them to take care of. Over 7 weeks have gone by since they last treated my lawn and I personally don't think they ever did my back yard going by the amount of weeds. I have proof that I paid 3 times to have the back done and they claimed it would take more than 1 treatment,,well why did I only get 1 treatment if I paid(with proof) for 3 times????
